GUT2407 Posted August 7, 2014 #76 Share Posted August 7, 2014 Because I'm in a suite and thus get two scoops of ice cream and the rest of my family are in 27 inside cabins why can't they get the 2nd scoop too? I think it is unfair.
Rare kazu Posted August 7, 2014 Author #77 Share Posted August 7, 2014 Or, you may forfeit your Explore4 for 1 piece of apple pie without ice cream. #29 My aft wrap neighbour sits out there 24/7 eating apple pie, and the smell is driving me back into my cabin. You know, there are lots of cruise lines to choose from. If you don't like the smell of apple pie go on a different line. I will not sail HAL until they ban apple pie on the balconies:p:D glad everyone is having FUN:)
Rare 1of4 Posted August 7, 2014 #78 Share Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) Enough already!!!! I went to bed giggling and now I just snorted tea through my nose at work.... Keep it coming. I need a good laugh to try to erase the commute I just endured! Who knew apple pie was such a "hot" topic...:rolleyes: Edited August 7, 2014 by 1of4
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 7, 2014 #79 Share Posted August 7, 2014 Fun thread, Kazu! Seems we've been too serious lately. :( 1 of 4 - your comment on the chocolate diamonds touched a nerve with me -- how innocent questions end up stirring all kinds of negativity. Goes like this: OP: My TA told me HAL is going to place freshly baked apple pies in all the staterooms on embarkation day. Has anyone else heard about this? Poster #2: What kind of apples? #3: I am allergic to apples. I don't want the pie in my room. #4: Are they going to give us plates and a pie slicer? #5: We'll need forks too. #6: Oh, I am so tired of hearing about allergies. Get a life. #7: I am diabetic and I can't eat pie. I might see if I can get OBC instead. #8: I wish it were chocolate pie. #9: Who is your TA? My TA didn't say anything about pie. #10: Allergies are serious. I have an allergy to peanuts. #11: Good thing it's not peanut butter pie then. #12: I suppose this means prices are going to go up. #13: Do suite guests get a better kind of pie? #14: What kind of apple pie - Dutch apple pie? This is too vague. #15: Can't wait to enjoy it on the balcony while I smoke. #16: If you're smoking on the balcony, I'll have to eat my pie in my room. #!7: Not another smoking thread. #18: The smell of apple pie bothers me. #19: The OP has only 125 posts. Methinks it is a troll. #20: I just talked to HAL customer service and was told it's a cherry pie. :D:D:D:D:D This is a winner!!!
ksqueak Posted August 7, 2014 #80 Share Posted August 7, 2014 thanks for this thread - I needed a good laugh this morning. And it's early enough I'm not bothering coworkers. I will never look at apple pie the same way :p
Corgi Girl Posted August 7, 2014 #81 Share Posted August 7, 2014 I was thinking since so many of us are interested in the Apple Pie and Ice Cream, we could charter a cruise. What do you think? Then we can tell everyone that all of the bars are closed.:D

Oceanwench Posted August 7, 2014 #83 Share Posted August 7, 2014 Everyone here is so creative ... I've been laughing my way through this thread this morning! What great posts. Wish I could hit a "like" button under each! :) Thanks, Kazu, you really inspired us with this thread about laughing at ourselves and having fun. I guess I'll plan on taking my apple pie to the Neptune Lounge on Westerdam, since the sideboard of desserts is no longer there.
ger_77 Posted August 7, 2014 #84 Share Posted August 7, 2014 "We" never eat apple pie (it's usually of such low quality like the welcome aboard champagne) - can we take it to the concierges in the Neptune Lounge and exchange it for a fresh peach crumble instead, or should we just have it credited to our account? Smooth Sailing ! :) :) :)
Rare cruisemom42 Posted August 7, 2014 #85 Share Posted August 7, 2014 For goodness sake, this must be the 20th thread on apple pies this week. Hasn't this subject been (b)eaten to death??? :D
babyher Posted August 7, 2014 #86 Share Posted August 7, 2014 We are Double Elite Platinum Titanium status . Will we be able to have our pie in the DEPT Lounge ? And if so will they be allowing children in the lounges during pie time ? We are childless by choice , and do not wish to be bothered by children running around while we are enjoying our pie . Also a place where pie, and ice cream , and possibly cheese is served , is no place for a child to be. Great thread .....the funniest part about it is it is so true > :) Thanks for posting

CJcruzer Posted August 7, 2014 #88 Share Posted August 7, 2014 if there is a group onboard, will I be able to eat my pie in the venue I want? Will the group take all the"good" pie ? Actually, will there be any pie left for me at all!:( I KNOW! let's form an "Apple Pie Eaters" group and book a cruise! then, we can eat our pie anytime, anywhere, anyhow! jaguarstyper Posted August 7, 2014 #89 Share Posted August 7, 2014 This might be one of the funniest threads I've ever read on an internet forum. Definitely the funniest I've ever read on Cruise Critic. Sometimes it seems like senses of humor are in very short supply around here. Well done!!!! babyher Posted August 7, 2014 #91 Share Posted August 7, 2014 I can't believe people are making such a big deal over these pies. We come from New England where the apples are far more superior to anything you get on a HAL ship. We find them meely and have no flavor It has been years since we have even had a HAL apple pie. Also anyone who does not believe that apple pie is an allergen, I have posted a link to a study done at The University of Vienna in 1967 by the esteemed Professor Jonathan MacIntosh which proves apples contain heavy doses of Methylethylohell that when mixed with cinnamon and baked at high temperatures produces the chemical Grannygala that has been recognized by the CDC as a known allergen

babyher Posted August 7, 2014 #93 Share Posted August 7, 2014 HAL just announced that they are banning apple pie on the balcony. Will we still be able to eat E-Pies on our balconies. It isn't made from real apples, and the aroma is just water vapor scented with Glade Apple Valley Morning Air Freshener?
CowPrincess Posted August 7, 2014 #94 Share Posted August 7, 2014 A-hem. I'm lactose intolerant. If there's going to be ice cream, I hope HAL provides a choice that meets my dietary needs ;) Well, I need gluten free pie crust...can they ante up? Can someone please answer this? Or am I going to have to contact the Special Needs department? I don't mind doing that, I am kind of special :D
babyher Posted August 7, 2014 #95 Share Posted August 7, 2014 Oh and in case anyone has seen the movie "American Pie" a few too many times and is thinking about joining the "Balcony Club". There are cameras that pan the entire length of the ship and you neighbors can see your reflection on the other side :)

Rare cruisemom42 Posted August 7, 2014 #98 Share Posted August 7, 2014 I'm just back from a recent cruise on HAL and I could not believe all the people in line at the front desk wanting to remove the daily apple pie from their room. Apparently, there are parts of the world where apple pie is simply NOT eaten. Honestly, just think of the poor hardworking room stewards who get paid so little. They depend on those leftover pieces of apple pie to supplement the hard tack and water that HAL gives them for sustenance....
