SteelMagnolia9 Posted November 1, 2015 #76 Share Posted November 1, 2015 If Princess or other cruise lines want to provide additional special amenities for suite guests as mentioned in the above posts, it's not going to impact my cruise in any way (and it never has on any cruise line in the past), including suite guests receiving reserved seating in the theatre, getting on a tender first or having a roped off area in the MDR. The number of suite guests is just not that significant. And until I joined CC, this never even crossed my mind (as well as the topics of lounges, loyalty programs and tiers which seem to be mostly about receiving free laundry and alcohol). caribill Posted November 1, 2015 #77 Share Posted November 1, 2015 I want reserved seating at shows for suites like RCL has. RCL also allows their top tier reserved seating. RCL's top tier is 25 cruises which is considerable more then Princess. The cruise gives the perks to gain loyalty or money and that's not going to change. If there are no added perks for a suite or elite then why book with Princess, I'll look elsewhere. RCI no longer used number of cruises as criteria. To get into the top tier (Pinnacle Club), 700 points are needed. For cruisers who earn one point per day, that is 100 weeks on RCI ships, much more than 25 cruises would normally get you. However, 50 weeks in suites would also get you there.

On the Grand Class and the newest ships there are probably about 50 people in suites. o Should 50 seats be saved for all theater performances each evening in case they want to show up? o Should 50 seats be set aside in an anytime dining room in case they all decide to eat at the same time? Since you directed your questions to me: I don't have an opinion on what suite amenities Princess should offer. If those amenities above were offered to 50 suite guests, it would not impact my enjoyment of my cruise in any way. As one of the masses on a cruise, it just wouldn't. On the other mainstream cruise lines like Royal, the reserved theater seats are released just prior to the performance just like the seats reserved by other guests. The separate suites dining areas are not a part of the MDR and the biggest appeal to me and mine is that Formal Nights are not celebrated in these areas. The dress code is always smart casual. xavier Posted November 1, 2015 #85 Share Posted November 1, 2015 I completely agree with this! I'd much rather cruise more often. That's why there's chocolate and vanilla. We would much rather cruise in a suite once a year than take 3-4 cruises a year.

Iamcruzin Posted November 3, 2015 #91 Share Posted November 3, 2015 Question:How appealing is the following group of additional Full Suite Amenities: Reserved Theater Seating Reserved Seating for Movies Under the Stars Daily Complimentarey Lunch in Specialty Restaurants Dining in an Exclusive Area of the Mail Dining Rooms In Suite Embarkation Day Lunch Upgraded L'Occitane Bathroom Amenities Daily Bottled Water Then, finally, they asked what amenities would be appealing? I listed these but am interested in your ideas! Tender tickets for return to ship Good idea Priority line to board ship on dock in port Chilled, bottled water when returning to ship in port Celebrity provides this service for all guests Dedicated stewards with fewer cabins to service. I have to say that most of their ideas would not sway me to spend more but that's just me! It looks like they are going the route of NCL and Celebrity with the ship within a ship concept. I like the idea of suite guests having extra perks but they should be part of the original fare not an extra on board expense. I never consider a suite on Princess because we just don't need the extra space and there really isn't any special service of value worth paying that price. We spend most of the time out of the room. The one time I booked a balcony we barely used it. I am at least open to the idea of booking a Sky suite on Celebrity or a suite in the Haven on NCL because of the amenities. Princess will have to upgrade their suite experience in order to compete with the cruise lines going to the ship within a ship concept. Not only have NCL and Celebrity implemented this concept, but Royal Caribbean has as well on selected ships. Many would disagree and would like to see flexible pricing where those who want these things can have them for a fee and those who do not don't have to pay. It was my impression from the survey that these perks would be available as a package for a fee.

It was my impression from the survey that these perks would be available as a package for a fee. My understanding is the same. The survey seemed to indicate there would be another level of Suites where you could pay more to have enhanced amenities. I love reading through all the ideas on this thread. Bottom line to me - we all sail in different cabins for our own reasons. We have only sailed in a suite once because we got a steal on a Window Suite. While we enjoyed the suite - especially Sabatini's breakfast - I couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on our next cruise on the Royal. Even though we will be in an Inside cabin for the first time, I'm sure we will have a great time. After all, it's not like we will have to wear a badge indicating our cabin category:D. Enjoy your cruise in whatever cabin you desire! Whatever floats your boat er, ship! :)

cruiselvr1 Posted November 4, 2015 #95 Share Posted November 4, 2015 We stay in suites only been on princess and carnival. Carnival perks are almost nil. But I don't get the butler thing that other cruise lines have. What does he do that I can't. I'm on vacation and have a of of free time to book a diner or unpack. We are in our first suite in November. I agree who needs a butler, also I don't need someone escorting me my room. Suites already have priority tender disembarkation, I don't have to have priority tender embarkation.
cruiselvr1 Posted November 4, 2015 #96 Share Posted November 4, 2015 I'm not opposed to Suites having their own lounge, but not Skywalker's. Suites could have the Adagio lounge converted or use Sabatini's. Personally, if I could afford a suite, I wouldn't even sail on Princess. I would charter a private yacht. Even in a suite, one is still on a mass market cruise line. It's not even a high-end cruise line like Crystal. On a yacht, one wouldn't have to share the ship with the rest of us. Just a thought. You make it sound like, just because someone is in a suite, they think they're better than everyone else.
cruiselvr1 Posted November 4, 2015 #97 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Not true. They took the Skywalker's off the Grand (the first one) for engineering issues. They fixed the problem on all subsequent Skywalker's. I have heard that Princess found they have saved fuel costs with the Grand. They are still thinking about taking them of the Grand class. HUNKY Posted November 4, 2015 #98 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Anyone notice that the suggested new full suite amenities have little or no cost to Princess? Princess probably doesn't pay much for bottled water, and L'Occitane will sponsor the cost of the toiletries in exchange for the names and addresses to market their products to the suite guests. shredie Posted November 4, 2015 #99 Share Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) I have heard that Princess found they have saved fuel costs with the Grand. They are still thinking about taking them of the Grand class. Just another rumor. Do you have any idea how expensive it would be to modify all those ships? On the Grand, they replaced Skywalker's with another bar that had to be specially built. That wasn't cheap. Would the expense of doing all of this outweigh the cost on fuel? This "taking off Skywalker's" story makes the rounds now and then, but it's just a story. Edited November 4, 2015 by shredie
A_Sea_Bugg Posted November 4, 2015 #100 Share Posted November 4, 2015 I agree. I cruise the way I fly. First class is nice if I get bumped up there, but I'm not paying that much just to get someplace. And although we do prefer balcony cabins, we have cruised interior or OV to stay in budget. I would rather cruise more than pay suite prices. Some of us are only able to take one vacation a year. I am a truck driver and I work 60 to 70 hours a week. We are slow in February so that is when we take our vacation. I only take at max 10 days so with a 7 day cruise and getting home before I fly then getting back and getting everything ready to go back to work I don't really have much time. So yes I will pay for a suite and I will take advantage of the perks I have paid for. Because I don't have the luxury of taking MORE cruises so the one I do take I want it to be the BEST.
