Ugh, Tony Tillman Agan

Recommended Posts

I have no real status on any line and I can tell you cruise ship entertainment is the same all over.  Wanna be Broadway production shows, magicians illusionist, comedians and tribute bands. If you have seen one you have seen them all. There is no need to see anything a second time. Unfortunately unless you change ships or cruise lines the shows run longer than the longest running Broadway production.

Hint to OP.

You might want to avoid the same Oasis class ships over and over again.

Oasis has Cats

Allure has Mama Mia

Harmony has Grease

Symphony  has Hairspray

Sigh!! 🙄  I will live... it means I will end up in the casino during that performance. That may very well be the reason to keep it. 🤣

Careful what you wish for, RCL might use your post to indicate passengers are fed up with shows and turn the theatre's into more cabins.

That's only funny because it's true.

Depending on the age of the ship some of these shows have on-going for 5+ years.

Then diving into the ice shows on Oasis, Freedom, and Voyagers, they have been going on even longer.

If I don't like a particular show (like Cats, sorry John an,d Mama Mia) I don't go and find something else to do.

Just because you are tired of an act doesn't mean other people have seen the act.  Or other people feel like they can see an act over and over again.

For example, I love piano bars.  If I find a good/decent one, I will go over and over again, even if they are playing the same set each time.  For other people, that may seem boring and repetitious, but I enjoy it.

Nice thing about a large cruise ship, is that there are other entertainment opportunities.

You might want to mix up your cruise ships or cruise lines.

Hairspray, once is enough.

We've seen Mamma Mia, Blue Planet and all the other production shows on the Allure and would see them five more times, given the opportunity. They always performed in front of a full house, for a reason.

Personal preference.

Everything on Royal Caribbean is the same.....ships all kinda look the same except some are bigger & have more but still pretty much same.......lounges & bars the same......cabins look the same......menu/food is the same....same specialty restaurants.....they play same lame games...stores on board all the same selling same stuff...Entertainment pretty much sounds the same anyway. Piano singer singing piano man is sorta the same. Same silly waiter dance in dining room. Shoot the guests all kind of look the same!

*disclaimer, this is a snarky answer. In no way is it to show any personal dissatisfaction or unhappiness with cruising.Only meant to show absurdity of worry about a single entertainer!  😉

Passengers aboard Crown Princess have voted, and have picked Tony Tillman as Princess Cruises Entertainer of the Year. Four finalists performed and passengers cast their ballots onboard.

Tillman is a singer and dynamic entertainer often compared to Sammy Davis, Jr. or Ben Vereen. A star of “The Rat Pack is Back” tribute show in Las Vegas, Tillman’s fast-paced and energetic style endeared him to the Crown Princess audiences.

We have seen Tony a few times early on in our Rccl cruise. The first time, he was good then got a little boring after that.  This is the only bad thing about being loyal to Rccl, the repetitive entertainment.  I refuse to see another acapella group.  Enough with them.  However, I understand everyone likes something different.

We just go now to the shows we haven’t gotten tired of yet.

I had to chuckle when I seen this thread.  Was on the Ovation in May and couldn't believe my eyes when I seen who was the entertainers one evening ,  Mario and Daniel Two Funny Guys.  I think they have been on at the least 10+ cruises I've been on ,  I now just skip the show.  Their bio says they have been entertaining on cruise ships for 18 yrs, but I swear they were around in the 90's.

The Princess demographic can relate to a Rat Pack performer better than the Royal Caribbean demographic. I wonder how many  millennials even know who the members of the Rat Pack are?

He's corny and BAD.   Saw him once and left about a half hour into the show shaking our heads.   Search him on Youtube .. you'll see.

I'm with this OP -- he needa go.

I didn't post the video I just commented on it and my opinion was the same as yours. I'm old enough to know who Sammy Davis Jr is and watched him perform in the 70's on TV. I couldn't sit through that show now. I can't image young couples and families sitting through that performance. I'm 58 and didn't make it through the video. However my 87 yr old parents would rave about it. They have to have a variety of different types of entertainment to accommodate all ages so I guess he is popular among that group. Others at the show might have wondered in not knowing what it was about. It's like the Gift on Anthem. Many seem to go but from the comments I read here and from personal experience most come out not knowing what they saw. Yet it's still going on.

Tony Tillman is my absolute LEAST FAVORITE headliner. I won't even step foot in the theatre when he is performing - and unfortunately he seems to perform on a lot of our cruises!

If we paired him with having John Blair as the cruise director that would be the cruise from h@ll in my books! LOL!

I get the issue with repetitive entertainment(kind of)  I like most acapella groups(but not all) and still go to all the Beatle tributes(good and bad) I guess once you 've seen Cats once your good forever(unless your John)
