AARP Carnival Gift Cards

The easiest way around this for Carnival would be to not allow gift cards for casino bank. I think they could do that relatively easily if they want to. But if Carnival isn't losing money on this then they probably won't bother. And on a personal note I am liking the Allstate program better than the AARP where I ran into trouble 😉 .

I read about Royal Caribbean redemption procedure on allstate and it is a bit of a pain compared to Carnival. You have to email a copy of the certificate and wait 10 days compared to logging in to Carnival and applying directly.

That wasn't my intention....I just wanted to know if there was a way to get extra back without it going on a gift card...My last cruise was in 2011...and not cruising until 2021....so don't want money sitting on a gift card that I don't use....I don't even care if I get the extra 10%...

Can I use it to apply to another rooms account who is traveling with me if I have extra?

We feel the same way. We don't want our money tied up in Carnival cards. In following some advice I read on here, we don't even buy the cards themselves right away. We're saving the money that we'll use to buy the cards, then start ordering them closer to our final payment date. That way, again, we don't have money tied up in gift cards and also don't have it tied up with our Carnival balance this far out from the cruise so it isn't stuck as a future cruise credit if we have to cancel. As it gets closer, we'll give ourselves plenty of time to order cards and pay down the balance.

If you mean applying gift cards to someone else's S&S account when you're on board, yes you can. Just go to Guest Services and have them divide the gift card however you want. I've done it with my son, but if you're doing it with other adults, it's probably a good idea to have them with you. Especially if they're part of a different booking.

The number of promo codes that I receive via email from AARP drastically dropped several months ago for me. I know we can do quizzes, but I used to get quite a few codes just from their newsletters. I'm an AARP member and they were sending me two different paper mailings via Postal. I didn't want them, so I called and had them cancelled. Well, the CSR who cancelled the paper mailings also removed all of the email newsletters that I had signed up for (just for the codes). When I went back into my account and subscribed to them again, that's when it seems as if the promo codes all but stopped. I think I'm lucky to get one a week now, when I used to get several a month. At only 150 points per code, it's pretty much not worth it.

But between that account and Allstate, I have more than enough to get us through this next cruise.

How do you get in trouble at AARP?  Push a wheel chair the wrong way down a one way wheel chair hallway?

There was a code given out here that turned out to be too good to be true. Several of us got carried away because the code was reusable and things went downhill from there 😉 . I am in AARP jail .

They aren't going to make it more difficult for people in the casino to get money into the slot machines. That much I know.

That's the bread and butter, so you are correct 🤣. Plus it gets very obvious if you are trying to cash out 1000 dollars to make 100.

You cancel a cruise that you had booked on Holland America and rebook it on Virgin.😁

As a Allstate customer they are getting awfully stingy giving out the codes lately. Only received two in the last month, Three if I count the one that I figured out. At this rate we will be taking a cruise in a row boat.....:classic_sad:

I let them track me on the phone app selectively and the points rack up pretty fast. Just checked and got 3800 points on the app in a month.

AARP has been the same way for me. I used to get enough codes that I didn't really have to worry about taking any of their quizzes. Now I'll get maybe two codes/month.

If you'll notice, the rewards websites for AARP & Allstate are almost identical. At the bottom of each, they both say they're owned & operated by the same company, Deluxe Financial Services, LLC dba Deluxe Rewards. I wonder if they also handle the promo code distribution.

Alright Boy's & Girl's I have deduced another code not found in a email. No I am not going to just give it out. It is worth 1000 points. I am however going to give clues to help you find it. Your first clue:

On the Drive wise website there is a pig wearing sunglasses sipping a cocktail through a straw laying on the beach.

Yep, that's it for today. Next clue tomorrow that is unless someone can figure it out.

Update: The pig is not sipping a cocktail and has now moved to a hammock.

Upping the ante, there is actually 4000 points associated with the pig in the hammock on the beach wearing sunglasses....

Can you find them?         Good Luck, Cabo Bob :classic_ninja::classic_ninja::classic_ninja:

And....Just in, another hint for another three thousand more points.  Three variations of "MOMSDAY" for a thousand points each. Hurry though they tend to inactivate them after the holiday....Cabo Bob, Code Detective....:classic_cool:

Thanks for the heads up Bob regarding the 3 variations.  Just snagged another 3000 points.  No idea about the pig though

Clue #2, Look in the Auctions for the Pig. He's laying in a blue hammock between two palm trees on the beach wearing sunglasses. He's getting pricey, his bid is almost a thousand points. It is there you will find your clues for 4000 points.....
