njkate Posted June 22, 2018 #4852 Share Posted June 22, 2018 No, but I am a web developer/programmer so I do have a lot of familiarity with databases and information processing. Also, as you can see by my screen name, I pride myself on my logic. :D Great logic making perfect sense, but, that's why it's a crap shoot for all bidders, because we don't know :)

erdoran Posted June 22, 2018 #4854 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Jamie, thanks for your analysis. My own logic (I'm a scientist) is: I'm in a CY penthouse, and was offered 2 BR CY PH or DOS to bid on. DOS shows up as sold out, there are three 2BR PH's left on ncl.com. Sail date is 9/1/18. If I bid on both then I'm almost definitely going to get the 2BR (if I get anything) because there are at least 3 available, vs only 2 DOS on the entire ship. If I only bid on DOS then that would increase my chances of getting DOS because that's the only way they will upsell me, and they can accept someone else's bid for 2BR PH. However, given that we're past final payment and DOS shows sold out, the probability that anyone will get one is very low, regardless of amount bid. What do you think about the above logic? wine_aholic Posted June 22, 2018 #4855 Share Posted June 22, 2018 I bet you'll be hearing any time now! Good luck and do come back and let us know!! Hope so, but still pending at 16:30 and the 48 hr to sailing is 19:00 tonight. Can they really let us know after that time? I thought all upgrades were done 48hrs prior to sailing and everyone notified too.
erdoran Posted June 22, 2018 #4856 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Is there any notification if your bid is NOT accepted, or is the lack of email at the 48 hour mark your "silent notification"?
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted June 22, 2018 #4857 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Is there any notification if your bid is NOT accepted, or is the lack of email at the 48 hour mark your "silent notification"? Everyone receives notification, one way or the other:halo:. Fastest way to know it's good is to check your credit card. Good luck to all.
Rare JamieLogical Posted June 22, 2018 #4858 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Jamie, thanks for your analysis. However, given that we're past final payment and DOS shows sold out, the probability that anyone will get one is very low, regardless of amount bid. What do you think about the above logic? I think with the DOS, you are right that your chances are near zero of getting that one. I would bid what you feel comfortable with on the 2 BR, if you are interested in it and then just put in some sort of Hail Mary bid on the DOS, knowing the chances are very low you will get it. Just be sure it's a bid you are okay with *if* it does get accepted! In your case, I don't think bidding on the 2 BR PH hurts your chances of getting the DOS, because the chances are near zero anyway.

NCL4EVA Posted June 23, 2018 #4865 Share Posted June 23, 2018 We got our bid for family suite accepted for our upcoming Dawn cruise (w/out balcony tho :()! I submitted a bid that was in the "low/average" chance range ($700pp was my bid out of max of $2000pp) of getting accepted so was pleasantly surprised. This was upgrade from a balcony suite on deck 8 that was "privasea".....wasn't crazy about the idea of partially obstructed view - the photos of the balcony rooms on the privasea section resembled more like concrete porches with an aluminum window - so was very pleased to get this upgrade. Only question I have is if we get the perks with the family suite or if the upgrade is for the room only? If anyone can answer this would most appreciate! You get all the perks of being in a suite such as a butler and concierge, breakfast and lunch in Moderno/Cagney's and priority boarding, tendering and all the other benefits of being in a suite. You keep your original "Free at Sea" promos.

You don't get any added promos, but if you're in a full suite starting with an S, you'll get the suite amenities such as escorted on and off and suite breakfast and lunch, and concierge services. Crap shoot because you have no way of knowing if you are bidding against 10 people or 100 people at even the maximum bid

BirdTravels have you ever won bids two cruises in a row? I once heard a theory that NCL doesn’t want the same person winning cruise after cruise. Also, as you can see by my screen name, I pride myself on my logic. :D I think you got it right. NCL wants to maximize revenue so they start the Havens at crazy high rates with catching some folks. Rest is more dollars to them with the succession in chain of upgrades. As far as sold out, few mention of getting into sold out category and GUESS is that due to cancels. Our recent trip our category sold out about 18 months in advance. Never came back as available yet people were getting option to bid for that category. Rare Nclgetawaymenhoney Posted June 23, 2018 #4874 Share Posted June 23, 2018 Both my dec 2017 escape cruise and may 2018 dawn cruise we won our upgrade bids. Escape went from ocean view to midship mini suite great location, bid in the low range, dawn went ocean view to family midship balcony just above poor range. Happy with both outcomes. Our recent trip our category sold out about 18 months in advance. Never came back as available yet people were getting option to bid for that category. Cancels or they got an upgrade and it opened up the room they booked. I have been told for 2 weeks now the Bliss 7/7 sailing is fully booked. Yet my upgrade bid on a MS was accepted this past Monday. Up until today, MS showed as "not available " on some staterooms. Now if you look at the site for a mock booking on 7/7, MS show as "sold out" and everything below that shows available to book. My understanding is that "not available" is not the same as "sold out" and if you attempt to book a "not available" room as a single guest it will come up and allow you to put a 24 hour courtesy hold on it. You then can call and ask if they will change your courtesy hold to a permanent booking and book for how many guests you need and pay your deposit. I also note although Balcony show available now, they were only GTY no stateroom choice up until last night. Now you may select a stateroom.
