Thanks for the great picture! I like her look. Can't wait to see what the aft looks like since I booked an aft S1 - hopefully some good sun back there. :)

Thanks for the great exterior rendering. Have you seen any renderings of the aft view. I have booked a sunset verandah and would really like to see what the aft cabins look like. Thanks!

No such luck - if I come across I'll post here.

You can just make out the raked aft profile similar to S class ships - at least to the hull. So glad they didn't go for a straight apartment block rear!!

Me too ;). With the flush sides, it could have looked completely like an office/apartment block. Those aft cabins I think would be the ones that would interest us most; pity there are no details for those. Do we know the size of the SVs?

A standard balcony cabin with the Infinite Veranda is listed at 241 sq ft (201 sq ft cabin and 40 sq ft balcony area).

A sunset balcony cabin has a standard balcony and not the Infinite Veranda. It's listed as 317 sq ft (228 sq ft cabin and 89 sq ft balcony).

Thanks for checking, that sounds good :). The cabin and balcony will be larger than a standard balcony cabin. Wonder if the aft design will be the same as the S class i.e. tiered without any structures obstructing the views?

Hard to say just yet. I would say from the higher decks yes. There is going to be this glass canopy thing all the way aft, some kind of lounge or restaurant. It may have some impact on the lower deck SV cabins, but I'm not sure.

...and THERE is your funnel X. Instead of being on the sides, it's created by the front of the superstructure of the funnels (behind the magic carpet). After seeing this rendering, I'm liking the bow shape much more. Also, hoping that Deck 5 glassed enclosure at the back is something similar to 270 on RCL Quantum class. That was one of my favorite spaces.

One helpful detail is that we know where the funnel is located and can therefore trace the likely path of ductwork and ventilation down through the ship. You can also use the known location of passenger elevators and stairs to draw logical conclusions about the location of crew elevators and stairs...

Do you know what the extra staircase is on decks 6-10 just afore of the forward stairs? Is this a crew stair that shouldn't have been included in the public deck plans?

I really like the concept of the Magic Carpet, but did they need to make it orange? And a very bright orange at that.

I think they want to attract attention when the ship is in port, so that people are intrigued and want to check Celebrity out to see what it's all about. Hopefully the future E-class builds will not need to shout about it.

I think privacy should be OK. Passengers are not allowed on the magic carpet when it is moving. At most you will see a crew member passing by your cabin.

Ah... I didn't know passengers were not allowed while it's moving. That explain everything then!

I fully admit that I haven't been following the process for Edge, so can someone please explain what the heck that Magic Carpet is for? I think it's ugly and makes the ship look strange and not elegant.

OK I just looked at the rendering of the Carpet and it looks like it could be ok, but then I looked at the cabins/suites and I'm very disappointed. They look uninviting, colorless and way too industrial. Whomever designed the interiors was just looking for ultra modern and not elegant in any way. They look like hospital rooms in movies I've seen that depict the future. Just too cold and unwelcoming. And what's with all the plexiglass? Yuck.

I have given it a day so I didn't have a knee-jerk reaction, but boy that Magic Carpet is a dumb idea - Have these ship designers ever been on a cruise ship?

I laugh at the stupidity of the Lawn Club Grill with its plastic blinds down and people huddled inside, while the rain is lashing down, but this is madness - I get that it's doing the Caribbean, but it isn't going to stay there forever. I do not believe enough cruises are hot and calm enough for this gimmick to be worth uglifying a ship and making the cheapest suites obstructed view cabins

The other bits look okay though - looking forward to seeing the rest

I don't think it makes those cabins and suites obstructed view. The Magic Carpet is not an elevator that will be going up and down all day long. It's a platform that may get repositioned once a day or twice max. It may block the balcony view for less than a minute as it repositions once or twice a day. Not a big deal.

I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the interior designs are on the cutting edge of today's trends. These designers know what they're doing. If you ask me, the interiors are stunning. They're classy, but modern. And for reference, I'm an interior design student.

PS: Where do you see plexiglass?

I think X have been very clever locating those S3 suites in that area by the Magic Carpet (feels more like I'm discussing Disney than X when I've just typed that :D). Pax will book them if even if the location is obstructed/less desirable because they will gain access to all the suite offerings - intelligent move by X ;).

Any thoughts on where the basketball court may be located? I'm not asking because I like to play, I'm asking because the main reason i never sat in the front areas of the ship for sun was because the basketball court was up there and the constant balls banging on the court were incredibly annoying. It appears the suite retreat area is up this way so I'm really hoping celebrity thought this one through and don't put the basketball court nearby. It would completely ruin the retreat experience for me.

I also think what some people are reading as "grey and colorless" in the renderings is actually beachy, warm, simple elegance. Those grey floors are reminiscent of driftwood, sand, etc. I live in Miami Beach and this is a style you see in the newest, most expensive buildings right now.

Agreed. You also have to take into account that these are digital renderings.

I just always find the "hospital room" comments absurd.

It's quite possible EDGE will not have a sports court, at least not a traditional outdoor one. The Rooftop Garden behind the funnel is where it's located on most ships. The Solstice Class has them forward but that is a bit unusual. Of course the Retreat will be forward on EDGE so no space there. I guess you can't have everything. There is only so much room on deck.

It is possible there will be some kind of multi-use sports court on a lower deck, similar to where the ice skating rinks are on Royal Caribbean ships. There is still a lot to be revealed. Spa, entertainment, dining, shopping, casino, etc.

wouldn't be a loss in my book, I prefer to get my workout done and over with in the gym in the morning so I can spend the rest of my day relaxing! ;p

surprised no one mentioned this, and maybe it's not a new thing on other ship builds (I don't follow any line other than celebrity) but as a new pool-building trend, looks like they will have built in loungers in the shallow "shelf" areas of the pool. we built a shelf in like this to our home pool and LOVE it. it's perfect for staying cool while relaxing at the same time :)

Agree on the basketball court -- seems like an underutilized space on the ships I've sailed. Also loved the look of those loungers on the shelf -- but when will you or I ever see them with only 3 pax? Celebrity had better get ready for chair-hog wars over them!
