DW and I appreciate you doing this. Will be on the Summit for a NE cruise late September. Thanks for the info on Bar Harbor. Enjoy your cruise!

You're welcome, Bar Harbor was a wonderful experience for us. Definitely recommend starting with the Shore Walk and then doubling back down Main Street followed by a mid morning or afternoon tour of Acadia, which was breathtaking.

Sadly, the fireworks are not visible from the ship for the Boston fireworks, too far away. I am hearing mixed reports on the Halifax fireworks. The shuttle to the Halifax Common for the fireworks (for $36) is already sold out, but I'm guessing a lot of the people who signed up for it will be very upset when they get there are there are a hundred thousand people there who have been waiting there since the am! I think we are going to be staying on the ship in Halifax and hope we see them. In Boston, our local friends will be taking us somewhere for a good view of them without needing to get there at 9am!

$36 for the shuttle is crazy. A taxi is cheaper .. and there will be at least 20,000 local people there. The fireworks will be spectacular and there will be many vantage points as they will shoot from Citadel Hill. Lots of spots on the waterfront or the streets running along where you may be able to see between buildings. It is new for us locals as they usually shoot from a barge in the harbour. You may even see from the ship depending on sight lines

Chris Sweets is the CD. Not sure about OZ and Luigi assisting, perhaps but I haven't caught them yet. Truthfully, tonight's show has been our only "Celebrity Life Activity." It's tough getting to many organized activities with a 3yo, but we did see the show tonight, which was very good. They started the show off with the video on the Eden from the EDGE and it received a lukewarm to tepid response when Chris asked "after seeing that, who is excited?!" I thought it was hilarious and telling (although the audience on this cruise is not the intended target audience for EDGE, I think we might be in that demographic, but who knows).

I'll find out about the Sunset Bar staff for you. We were back there when the pod of whales appeared and they were very into and made it seem special, as if that sort of thing didn't happen every time they go past Massachusetts.

Thanks so much. Tough with a 3 year old for sure. My son (13) really wants to go on the Edge when she launches. Have to see what deals they offer in August when we are on board

Dinner last night was a mixed bag. The lamb dish was outstanding and the best item we've tried so far. Thought hard about ordering a second! The wedge salad, caprese salad, the shrimp cocktail (warm) and steak and chips were only ok. The rigatoni dish and the strawberry angel food cake were dreadfully tasteless unfortunately.

Right now we are in Saint John. It is raining, grey and nasty right now. We booked the Freedom Tours "funds Coast to Fundy Shore" excursion privately. We are 40 minutes into it and so far it has been pretty awful. The speaker on the bus doesn't work (either does the restroom). The tour guide is a low talker if you have ever seen Seinfeld and nobody on this bus can hear a thing he says. Despite us all telling him to speak up, he won't or can't so we all sit here looking into the rain not knowing what we are looking at. Sigh. We're on a highway now, but have no idea where we are going. If I don't provide an update in a few hours, call the Mounties!

Boston on the 4th, what fun! Go to the Public Gardens & ride the Swan Boats! A must with the little one (& a good way to relax & sit down!). Have dinner at NoName Restaurant then Go to the Boston Pops. You will not be able to see any fireworks from onboard, the skyline gets in the way. Enjoying your review

It doesn't happen for every ship every day. Consider yourself lucky.

We have each been to Boston numerous times and I loved about 45 minutes away for 4 years so will be spending the day with friends. Thanks for the tips though!

Today's tour has picked up. The weather stinks (nobody's fault obviously) and we still can't hear a thing the guide is saying, but the stops have been really interesting.

Our first stop was at Reversing Falls which was at slack tide, however we were promised a return trip on the way back to the ship to see them in their low tide glory.

Our next stop was at Duck Pond which was nice to get out close to the water of the Bay of Fundy. Despite the fog, we enjoyed the sea air and DD added some really nice rocks to her collection.

We then made a stop near the sea caves where there was a lovely lighthouse, covered bridge, gift shops and wharf where you could see the boats in the Bay at low tide! We were also lucky enough to be there right after a lobster boat returned with its catch, which included a nearly 8 pounder!

We next went to the sea caves of St. Martin where we hiked to the sea caves which we could do because it was low tide. At high tide, there is 30+ feet of water with mere feet of the cave remaining. Kayakers sometimes enter the caves at high tide. It was a fun walk.

Up next was a very early lunch at The Caves restaurant, which was awesome! Our seafood chowder and biscuit was outstanding the clam strips DD got were very tasty and the type we get at the Jersey Shore in the summer. The food everyone else ordered looked equally amazing and we will definitely be back if we find ourselves back in New Brunswick.

Our final stop was at the Saint John City Market which was so cool. We love local markets. We purchased some maple syrup and I tried the local delicacy - dukes seaweed! It was...interesting. It wasn't bad, but I won't be buying any anytime soon!

Unfortunately the tides did not change at reversing falls so we did not get to see it which was what I was looking forward to most, but se la vi.

OMG. I love St. John. Our very first cruise in 2000 took us there. My son was only 10. He actually ate the Dulse and still does. I do not like it. Love that Market. Wish I was there. Maybe next year.

There use to be a woman at one end at the entrance of the market that sold homemade candy. It was so good. I did not see her last time we were there in 2007.

Absolutely loving your review. Thank you so much for sharing.

Obviously I meant Dulse seaweed, not Dukes. Apologies for the typos and errors throughout. Doing this all on an iPhone with stubborn autocorrect!

You are doing a great job with the review! Love all the pictures and information. We will be doing this same cruise next year. It's nice to read a review with such positive thinking and good sense of humor. Thanks so much for taking the time to post. I understand about auto correct on a phone...it drives me crazy!

What a lucky junior cruiser you have! Thank you for great reporting and pix. And comments. Taking Summit in September...picked Oli's Trolley, will wander St. John, and am revising packing list! And, food pix especially good! Sure trump my DIY meals! Enjoy .

Thank you for doing a live review. We were on the Summit to Bermuda 2 Summers ago. Great ship!

Can you post a picture of the solarium pool? Particularly to show if the faucet pipes have been re-installed in the corners? We had them when we sailed and loved them. Then they were removed but then I heard they were back.

Going on the 14 day to Quebec in September and want to be prepared!

Thank you so much!

Looks like we may have to upgrade our classic package to premium. If we both have 2-3 martinis / day, which is not a hard thing to do on vacation, the upgrade will pay for itself.

(I was thinking about sticking to the classic and paying the difference, but just realized that I like sparkling wine with dinner, and that's not included in the classic package.)

Thanks again!
