Cigar - Grand Princess

I know there is a cigar bar on the Grand Princess, but are there any additional places a passenger can smoke a cigar? A friend who is travelling with us on this cruise asked me and I told him I knew where I could find an answer.

Thanks for any information,

There are a couple of designated smoking areas I'm aware of: Deck 15 aft, starboard (behind Hearts & Minds), and a small section of the promenade (Deck 7). And, of course, the casino, except on designated non-smoking nights. I was not sure if those were cigarette-only, but the Princess website doesn't mention any such limitation.

On the first day of the cruise, the Princess Patter states that cigars should only be smoked

In the cigar bar.

Cigars stink really bad, and it is gross to ruin the outdoor environment for others by smoking cigars.

Amazing that anyone would want to ruin the sea air by polluting it with cigar smoke.

LOL, Ok little bunny, I'm a bad boy....I'd be fine smoking in the cigar bar only but it is full of cigarette smokers, I love cigar smoke but get overwhelmed by a lot of cigarette smoke in a confined space.

Only issue is when we had a balcony right under aft smoking section on the Ruby - cigar smokers would flick their ash chunks over the stern rail onto our balcony deck, table, and chairs. I think the cigar smokers were Russians

Amazing that even though rules are clearly established that some people feel the rules don't apply to them.

They used to have rules about who could sit in the front of the bus. Not all rules are good.

Having recently sailed on the Grand, we (a group of 3 cigar smokers) were looking forward to relaxing and having a nice cigar and a nightcap after dinner. Upon entering Snookers we immediately were overcome by the thick cloud of cigarette smoke in the bar. We actually had a hard time finding the one open table that was available - the others were all occupied by cigarette smokers.

The problem is that there doesn't appear to be a 'smoke-eater' air cleaner as found in many other cigar bars. Cigar smokers generally don't inhale their smoke and breathing all of the cigarette smoke in the room made us all light-headed (this obviously doesn't bother cigarette smokers). We had to leave, and since cigars are banned everywhere else on the ship, couldn't enjoy our cigars on the ship at all. We all ended up snubbing out three perfectly good $10.00+ cigars and walking out.

This 'cigar bar' is very poorly designed and unless Princess puts in a 'smoke-eater', they should consider making the bar a cigar-only bar. After all, cigarettes can be smoked throughout the casino and on designated areas of the outside decks. This is the only Princess ship that I have noticed all the smoke, so I'm assuming that the newer ships may have some sort of air cleaner in place.

We don't smoke. I absolutely despise the smell of smoking. However, I have to agree that it seems ridiculous to have a cigar bar that is unusable due to cigarette smokers. As you say, there are various venues where cigarette smokers can congregate but only one place to "legally" smoke cigars and pipes. Neither of those types generally inhale the smoke into their lungs. Being in a room full of a big cloud of cigarette smoke forces one to inhale the smoke of others. Cigar smokers and pipe smokers should be free to indulge without having to breathe all that other smoke.

Just to be a bit pragmatic ....

If anyone has paid close attention or maybe cruised in Europe, I'm sure you've noticed there still is a sizable percentage of people who smoke. Princess has eliminate smoking in almost every areas of the interior of the ship and balcony's, but Princess has decided that they are unwilling to for go the revenue from apox 25 percent of the worlds adult population by completely eliminating smokers from their ships. As a shareholder I applaud this, but as a non-smoker I find it difficult.

Sorry to say since Snookers is only one of two places to smoke cigarettes inside , I prefer cigarette smokers to smoke in Snookers along with the cigars and leave the more heavily used casino less smokey to walk through and on a occasion play in.

Selfish I know, but the reality is that cigarette smoking is here to stay on Princess ships, so better in some closed bar area than in the casino

I think the reason there seem to be more cigarette smokers in the cigar bar is that the Casino had become much more non-smoking:

The Casino and Casino Bar are non-smoking areas on board, with the exception of designated slot machines where guests are permitted to smoke only while playing at those machines. All table games are non-smoking.

It was not allowed but I smoked cigars outside the one5 lounge. None of the smokers said anything. :D

Assuming that cigar smoking is really not allowed outside the one5lounge whatever that is, you must be a very important person to assume that rules are for everyone but you.
