spedteacher86 Posted September 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Our booking in has some perks: Savor a complimentary lunch for two at Giovanni's Table, Jamie's Italian, Sabor or Johnny Rockets®. A complimentary bottle of red wine welcomes your arrival I'm all for free lunch at a nicer restaurant, but we are simply not drinkers. Besides giving the bottle back, are there other options? Maybe onboard credit or exchange for something else?

Coralc Posted September 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2017 If we don't have friends onboard to give it to....we usually take it the Meet & Mingle and ask them to add it to the raffle for our fellow roll call cruisers. :D
Clarea Posted September 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2017 If your booking is with a travel agent, they you should talk to the agent about substitutions.

Bob, I had assumed that it was part of the eat drink play package as they mentioned the free lunch.

datolim Posted September 10, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Could you not tell the waiter you want to take the bottle to your cabin instead of drinking it in the restaurant.
lbjen Posted September 10, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 10, 2017 I wonder if you could take it home with you, assuming you're not flying. We don't drink either, whenever we get free wine from someone we keep it to gift to someone else.
Ken at the beach Posted September 10, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Could you not tell the waiter you want to take the bottle to your cabin instead of drinking it in the restaurant. The bottle of wine is left in your stateroom.

Pstreet12 Posted September 10, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 10, 2017 That sounds like the package for Central Park balconies. It might be worth chatting with the loyalty desk. It wasn't given to you for loyalty, I know, but they can sometimes accomplish some pretty impressive things, and he/she might have a possibility for you. SRF Posted September 10, 2017 #13 Share Posted September 10, 2017 You could hold on to it, and if you meet some nice people, take it to dinner to be "shared."
spookwife Posted September 10, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 10, 2017 best you can hope for is letting you swap it out for sparkling non alcoholic wine. one assumes you booked the cabin for its price and factors other than a free bottle of wine. its no different than all those Crown and Anchor loyalty level perks that are loaded on to your sea pass card that never get used. 39august Posted September 10, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 10, 2017 You can always give it to your cabin steward. If he/she doesn't drink, he will have friends on staff who do.
Merion_Mom Posted September 10, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Every time this question is asked here, I have seen someone who actually experienced it say, "No changes, no substitutions."
Reijo Posted September 11, 2017 #17 Share Posted September 11, 2017 We are not drinkers either and often the perks have to do with a bottle of wine or such. Just wish I could have the equivalent in the drink of my choice (to a certain dollar limit, of course). Would love a Café Mocha. I have nothing against those who like wine or other alcoholic beverages but there are many who don't benefit from these perks. Please come up with an option. nelblu Posted September 11, 2017 #18 Share Posted September 11, 2017 We're not drinkers and the D+ gift bottle of Pinot Grigio (value $40 per RCL) was wrapped in plastic bubble and face towels and checked in luggage and brought home to be used by my kids. Artemis908 Posted September 11, 2017 #19 Share Posted September 11, 2017 We just got assigned our cabin (neighborhood guarantee) and it's Central Park balcony. I'm not a fan of red, but I like white. I would take a cheap bottle of white over red. But everything I've read so far that they won't exchange the wine. I am guessing they buy the wine in bulk and so get a huge discount on the wine and it's not worth much when it comes down to it.

You might want to consider using "Jet Bag" or "Wine Diapers"...Google them...they work great...got ours on Amazon....We take one or two with us whenever we travel...Good for any liquids and we've used the same ones over and over.
