Kiwi Kruzer Posted November 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2017 Tsunami possible after 7.0 earthquake strikes near France's New Caledonia https://www.rt.com/news/410353-earthquake-tsunami-new-caledonia/ I think Pacific Eden is at Lifou today. Carnival Legend was at Noumea yesterday and is now on way home.
Aus Traveller Posted November 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2017 Ships at sea are not at risk. If a tsunami is possible, it is likely any cruise ships in the area will leave port. Because of the shallow water near land, a tsunami wave could be a problem.

NSWP Posted November 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2017 I have nightmares and phobia re earthquakes, caught up in a big one in Lima Peru, August 2007, when we were over there for a couple of months visiting my son. The folk in those Pacific Islands are reared on earthquakes, so the odd shake does not worry them tooo much. The danger is Tsunamis impacting on the islands @ sea level or not much above that. Could not live in NZ either, too shaky for me.:(

I don't mind when they are dead, it is the live and infected ones that scare me.
