cfr70 Posted November 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2017 For December 3rd Nassau & Freeport. Should I throw them into my bag to be safe? I'm a total shorts & t shirt guy, but will it be cold enough that i'll want them during this time? Not doing MDR so not needing "dressy" type clothes...just wondering if i'll need anything more for warmth.
winddawn Posted November 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Weather can vary in The Bahamas in December, much like it can in Florida. You might have sunny, warm weather; however, I've also experienced extreme wind and cool weather too in Nassau in December.

I'm only bringing one 22 inch duffel bag but will throw a pair of long pants and a sweater in there to play it safe.
coevan Posted November 24, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2017 have you tried a weather website, it's only a week away, easy to get a 10 day forecast
OCruisers Posted November 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Thanks. I'm only bringing one 22 inch duffel bag but will throw a pair of long pants and a sweater in there to play it safe. Good Plan! (y)
cfr70 Posted November 24, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted November 24, 2017 have you tried a weather website, it's only a week away, easy to get a 10 day forecast I've been checking daily. Currently 10 day forecasts ends at 12/2 so the next few days should give me all the info. Also i'm curious about inside the ship as well, particularily in evenings. I haven't been on a ship since Sensation in '14, but i've read that it can get chilly on board as well. I don't recall being cold on ship back then, but it was also August at the time as opposed to December now. In any case, I guess it's best to throw in the pants and sweater anyway. I hate wearing them, but don't want to leave them home and then wish i'd brought them.

sanmarcosman Posted November 24, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 24, 2017 It can be useful. He's already said he's bringing these. Perhaps you missed that when you read the thread, oh wait, you don't read threads. N/M
summersigh Posted November 24, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 24, 2017 I always take a sweater because the inside of the ship always seems to be air conditioned no matter what the season. Also, in the Caribbean when it rains in the winter it can come with a cold, penetrating wind so I figure better safe than sorry.
tea4ular Posted November 24, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 24, 2017 One of the worst decisions I ever made was NOT taking a sweater and long pants on a cruise...in MAY! Coming back I was miserably cold. I always pack at least one of each now.
Shaded Lady Posted November 24, 2017 #11 Share Posted November 24, 2017 I find the lounges and theaters particularly cold so I ALWAYS bring a sweater... this time I convinced DH to do the same and he was grateful!!! It was a meat locker in the main theater!

Zeta3 Posted November 25, 2017 #13 Share Posted November 25, 2017 We have cruised the first week of December for the past 10 years, normally it is nicely warm to hot. One year we hit a cold front and it was freezing. I’m talking long pants, jackets, hats, and blankets to watch a movie on deck at night. coevan Posted November 25, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 25, 2017 I assume you are talking about the Bahamas or leaving a colder port, because once you get to the Virgins, it's never cold

Sent from my iPhone using Forums This is my first December cruise (Bahamas). Even though I live in Central FL, i'm clueless what it's like out on the open water this time of year. Also, air conditioned spaces inside the ship. I was even debating packing a hoodie, but I think that's probably overkill now, and would also eat up precious packing space. I'll just pack a long pair of khakis and a sweater and should be fine. Thanks for all the well informed responses and advice.

riffatsea Posted November 25, 2017 #17 Share Posted November 25, 2017 I always find it cold on board the ship. DH is also cold in some of the show areas and lounges. We would always have long pants and some sort of sweater/light jacket/hoodie on board just in case.
cfr70 Posted November 25, 2017 Author #18 Share Posted November 25, 2017 Well the weather says it'll be 67 degrees at 9am on sailing day, so it looks like i'll wear that sweater and long pants while boarding. (When you've lived in FL for a long time, that's cold lol.)
ja_martin Posted November 25, 2017 #19 Share Posted November 25, 2017 I always have pair of jeans, a flannel shirt and a sweatshirt, no matter where we are cruising nor when. Evenings can get cool.
cb at sea Posted November 26, 2017 #20 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Unless there is a far-reaching cold front from the USA, it will still be fine for shorts during the day. The Bahamas have Florida-like weather....they are ATLANTIC islands...not Caribbean!
marshhawk Posted November 26, 2017 #21 Share Posted November 26, 2017 We have cruised to the Bahamas in both November and December and run into cold fronts. I would recommend a windbreaker. Sweaters are great, but wind can blow through them. I hope you have a great cruise!
