RCCL new Diamond Lounge Policy?

I don't understand how anyone can feel demoted from a suite lounge, when they are not staying in a suite! The suite lounge is for suite guests and Pinnacles, and no other C&A categories. If the SL is that important, then those who want entry should book a suite ( easy) , or sail often enough to become Pinnacle .

There is a CL on Allure and Oasis but Harmony was the first to have a SL and this was Harmonys second cruise so the conversation was about the no second lounge for D+ members.

Exactly which CL’s were renamed SL?

I believe Liberty?

Unless Diamond, Suite Guests do no get 3 Free drinks loaded on their Sea Pass cards.

I cannot think of a single CL that was simply renamed to SL. Liberty's SL was created from the former card and game rooms in the Viking Crown. The CL was turned into the library and card room.

When they kick you out of the CL and change the name to SL and say your not welcome.

Maybe not a demotion but loyalty has been diluted

It is a suite lounge, intended for suite passengers. And, any passenger is welcome, just book a suite!

Ships with a SL also have a Diamond Lounge for both and D+ to enjoy. Personally I can understand the changes. There were many suite guests ( paying lots for a suite) , who had an over crowded lounge. I am sure they voiced a complaint. It should be a win/win for RCCL. Satisfy suite guests with the proper level of services and STILL give the D+ a lounge with free drinks AND 3 free drink vouchers to use around the ship. Honesty, I wonder why RCCL continues to provide a cocktail lounge at all. Seems so many continually complain that the FREE drink lounge is TOO crowded, no overflow, folks sit too long, whatever. Of course it is crowded, the drinks are FREE!

I guess one day RCCL will wise up just give a few vouchers to D/D+, and decide to remove all the D lounges or the free cocktail hours, then the complaining about FREE drinks in the lounge will finally stop.

I meant it that way. The CL has been taken away from D+ and a SL added

Sorry for the confusion

Understand, but it does stink when you're used to having access to two private lounges then having it reduced to one. Especially to D+ members like myself who remember when we had access to the CL when we were D and had that taken away.

I believe Royal listened to their Suite Guests and created a Suite Lounge.

This is the way I see it as well

Not a big incentive to make D+

Wish I could afford to book a suite

No problem, I agree with you that the D+ perks have been reduced:

1) D+ now have only one lounge which is generally much more crowded than what they had before.

2) D+ lost the made-to-order breakfast and lunch (plus wine and beer) in the CL on Oasis class ships.

There was no CL where the Sl is. The CL was changed to the diamond club and the Sl was brand new. We use the Sl all the time as many other d+ do. Rci welcomes anyone there, even 1st time cruisers. C&a has nothing to do with using the Sl except for PC.

Seriously, your complaint is that now you only have one dedicated private lounge for concierge services, free drinks and snacks, continental breakfast, specialty coffee all day, etc.! One lounge is not enough? I guess you never sailed Sovereign, Monarch, Majesty or Empress. Try Majesty or Empress and then decide if you still complain about "only one" dedicated lounge. Empress has nothing, no lounge, no D/D+ and up event and Majesty has no lounge , just a D/D+/Pinnacle event each evening.

Have no fear - As you are D+, simply book a suite and you can have access to two private lounges.

What really feels like a kick in the pants is when they make a tiny little DL on a ship the size of Harmony, and no CL. At least Oasis and Allure still have a nice big DL. Anthem's DL is also way too small for a ship that size but at least D+ can still access the huge CL - for now.

30% off onboard pricing for drink packages but from what I read here, it’s all about the free drinks. I can’t wait to increase our 20% to 30% soon.

I do like a few drinks to socialise. The main moan for me is the D lounge is a lot busier. Breakfast and during the day is usually nice for a coffee and a bit peace and quiet. Not so much now.

It's not about the money, It's about value for money. Even at 50% off I couldn't justify a drinks package.

I'm all for the SL on the larger ships because passengers really pay a lot for the Suites and deserve somewhere special.

The beef that myself and other D+ members have is the reduction from 2 lounges to 1 lounge and a dilution of our benefits.

Um, I have sailed the small ships with no DL/CL. You're missing the point and simply being snarky now. I'm well on my way to P, should be there by the time I'm 50. I spend very little time in my cabin so I can't justify the cost of booking a suite. And it's a lot more than the freebies you keep talking about. ItsI about meeting new people and making friends with fellow cruise enthusiasts.

I presume you are not Diamond or D+ otherwise you would appreciate the DL.

Don't know why they didn't make the D lounge on Harmony and Symphony the same as Oasis and Allure

You are not required to use the lounge, Lounge too small - use a voucher around the ship. Some ships even allow the voucher use in the MDR and other dining venues.

Try using the lounge during the day or in the morning. Wonderful continental breakfast, nice coffee, rarely crowded, attentive staff, lots of seating.

I do agree that Allure and Oasis have a lovely D lounge.

Enjoy
