Feline-fine Posted April 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Hi, Has anyone experience of these? If so are they worth the money? I do manage with drugs but they are not without side effects so would be interested to hear if people's opinions re the bands. Thank you Ceri:)
Kamloops50 Posted April 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2018 What are the bands for ?
leaveitallbehind Posted April 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2018 As mentioned above, need more information to be of assistance. What are you seeking relief from with their use?
Feline-fine Posted April 8, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Sorry, my mistake! They are for sea sickness. They have been used with some success for pregnancy, chemotherapy sickness relief etc and are also available for sea sickness. The reviews i have found have been favourable so was wondering if my fellow cruise critic members may have experience of them. Kind regards Ceri
leaveitallbehind Posted April 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Thanks for the clarity. I won't be able to help with this as the motion of the sea does not bother me and I don't use anything to counteract it. Hopefully others can provide some insight. Have you spoken with your physician about alternatives to the medications?
Viv0828 Posted April 8, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2018 i would look on amazon and read the reviews which seem favorable. they are spendy so see what other folks have to say.
Bizmark'sMom Posted April 8, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2018 I've never used the battery type, but the acupressure type (look like sweat bands with a plastic button) work very well for me.
Rare mom says Posted April 8, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 8, 2018 I prefer looking at scientific study results vs anecdotal reviews, since the latter can't differentiate actual benefit from placebo effects. But true studies have shown SOME benefit using the accu-stimulation devices. Whether or not they will help the OP can't be guaranteed. The more common Sea band acupressure bands have only proven as effective as placebos. They certainly didn't work for me. OP, if you decide to try them, bring your usual sea sickness meds along as a back up.
Suzanne123 Posted April 9, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 9, 2018 I have used the battery powered Relief Band for years and more than 30 cruises. Usually the weather cooperates and I don’t need it, but I won’t sail without it.
ceb65 Posted April 9, 2018 #10 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Hi, Has anyone experience of these? If so are they worth the money? I do manage with drugs but they are not without side effects so would be interested to hear if people's opinions re the bands. Thank you Ceri:) When do you cruise? I will let you know! I bought one for my cruise on April 25th. I have always had motion sickness. I can't even ride in a car unless I am driving. I tried it out on a 25 minute road trip on winding roads while reading, and I did not get nauseous! First time in a long time I was able to be a passenger, and not feel sick or dizzy. I am hoping I have the same success on my cruise, and I will post my experience.
Underwatr Posted April 9, 2018 #11 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Don't discount the placebo effect. If you think you feel better, you probably feel better. DW uses sea bands and says they work for her. I served on a submarine so cruise ships can't move enough for me!
