New website email

The old layout of mariner status was fine. In one screen view you could see all of your past cruises with all details of points earned. It was very easy to grab a screen shot for your records. The new format is not user friendly. Of course I’m still waiting for my last cruise to post.

What a truly awful newly released site that HAL chose to announce in a very unprofessional manner. Not only was the email lacking that number of days, but if HAL had really been interested in our opinion they would have included a link for us to use to respond.

There is no excuse for making such monumental changes that break the “keep it simple stupid” rule. Commercial web-sites of this nature should be user friendly and not require a manual to operate!

For those of you having trouble finding your account/mariner information go to the bottom of the 1st page and click on SITEMAP. You should easily find what you are looking for there.

Catl331, my numbers are all screwed up too. Guess along with software development HAL’s staff knows nothing about accounting!

I admit to being delighted I did not receive the e-mail. Why bother to send up dated information to Five St ar Mariner?

What has happened to this company?

ASHFORD is what has happened.. down the tubes no matter what anyone on here says who seem to wear those rose-colored glasses on one of many other threads I started a while back.. I know of what I speak..

I called the Mariner Society as a last resort about 3 weeks ago when they tried to put the site up online.. after asking them an obvious question... 'didn't HAL test it out before putting it up online'.. their answer was that they did until it went live then it crashed piece by piece-- their words.. so they took it down only to be put back up again this morning.. WHAT A MESS!!!!!!!!! 4 clicks to do the same as 1 click on the old site... as I told the Mariner Society whoever came up with this should be terminated -- probably the same misfit who came up with the idea of so-called upgrading the Veendam and Rotterdam a few years back removing the aft Seaview pool ..plumbing leaks into many cabins..etc-- another boondoggle .. and yes I did get the notorious email about the new site this past week-- still shaking my head.. incompetence rules

WHAT A MESS !!!!

I checked my mariner status too, and found it had the days gained through spending added in twice. I am sure they will find a way to fix that calculation. We would like to get to the next level, but I don't think they will let that pass to get there.

Yes, this bug will eventually be corrected, but this abortion should never have been dumped on unsuspecting users. If they wanted real users to do Beta testing they should have asked for a limited number of volunteers. Attractive form is good provided the function is very good to excellent!

I found another issue/bug with the new program:

I tried booking a cruise on the old and new websites and got quite a different fare ($2029 vs $1724). There were some perks involved with the higher number, so the difference is not as great as it looks, but it still should be viewed with caution.

I think I figured out the problem - on the old site I was able to put in both of our Mariner numbers, but this is not allowed on the new one! So, it just uses the rates/deals/promotions for the one cruiser. Normally this is not an issue, but in this case I have a Private Sale offer under my name and my DW gets the Casino Rate.

So, be VERY careful when using the new site as to who's Mariner number you input. Also, if you have more than one deal/rate, be sure to use the old site or call your TA/PCC.

Have to agree and I have seen it happen many times in other companies or organizations. It seems to be a recurring theme when they hire a "human resources" expert, as competent as they may be, to run a company's "operations".

I would not book a cruise through the website at this point. Too difficult to wade through the process, and now there are price differences to sort out. What a mess!

I'd like to think Prince Charming is going to knock on my door, and we'll live happily every after.

Odds are about the same for both of us that we get what we want.

LOL, :D Good one, Ruth. :)

I checked My Mariner Status Credits on the new site and it's mostly wrong. They got the total credits correct, and the actual sea days, but the bonus total is short. In the list of cruises, every one of 11 cruises since the bonus point Star system began in Dec 2008 is wrong. For example, a 7 day cruise in a Neptune suite with 3 spending credits for a total of 17 is shown instead as 17+7+3 = 27. A non-suite one of 18 days with 4 for spending is shown as 22+4 = 26, etc, etc

Variables are messed up.

A first semester programming student should get a big fat zero for that assignment.

(They likely got a participation trophy instead with the way things are done now.)

Ask them if you can keep the double spending credits.

I just viewed the video that announced the new web site. Underwhelming is the best word that comes to mind.

Have not tried to access this "new and improved" web site recently and have no immediate reason for doing so, based upon the comments I am reading on another thread.

But, again, I wonder: why "fix" what is not broken? Full employment for the IT employees of HAL?

I'm getting the opinion that someone in HAL decided sailing with "old people

and their parents" had a limited future, so they needed to target hand-held

devices to entice younger blood...?

But, yeah, underwhelming. Even on a smartphone or a tablet, but less so.
