Perhaps that is wise Host Grandma. Bonnie may have something to add and I hope she realises that none of us meant to upset her. It's just that all the information was so contradictory and confusing to everyone.

Phil, Ann, Spursgirl, Mrs Miggins, other friends and myself are all on either Quest or Journey, boarding in the next two weeks. You can bet that between us all we will make a fair stab at going through the list ....whether included or not! By the wonderful example of the gentleman from Halifax we may be ordering Long Island Iced Tea at breakfast just to see if we can!

We will report back, but I'm fairly sure we will all be happy campers after the clarification by Richard Twynam to Phil yesterday.

I, for one, will be looking forward to your report. While I appreciate Bonnie's efforts, I'll consider it the bottom line on this messy situation. I remember the awkwardness on my first Azamara cruise of having to ask if the unlisted drink I ordered was included or not until I learned how things worked. I think the disclaimer about any drink that can be made with included spirits being included would be a kindness to newbies, or maybe just eliminating the confusing suggested cocktails list entirely.

On another note, If the U.K. contingent gets bored (highly unlikely!) onboard over the B2Bs, maybe you could put together a dictionary of Britishisms for those of us who speak a different form of the language. It took me several posts and Google to figure out that 'chuffed' wasn't a horrible condition to be avoided and happily, Amazon satisfied my Branston pickle curiosity. We don't even refer to Azamara as the same kind of noun. Over here, we say Azamara is..., you say, Azamara are.... and we've lost 'whilst' entirely.

Well, I digress. I need to get back to my bartenders guide to research the ingredients of some of the more exotic drinks mentioned in the thread. I'm now confident there will be no problems ordering them.

Have a wonderful time on your upcoming cruise!

-Melissa

But, kjbacon, the official statement Bonnie was given, and passed on to us, was accurate.

What I think was missing was the fact that the new spirits list was spirits only, and that the ‘missing’ items were ingredients of cocktails and would continue to be available.

But, how would anyone know that?

If you wanted a Cosmo, for example, how would you know that it could be made with "included" triple sec if triple sec doesn't appear as "inclusive" on any menu. You would, no doubt, think that it would only be made with Cointreau and so you would have to pay or upgrade to a package.

New cruisers, or even those who have cruised before but are not on CC, would assume that it wasn't included.

Let’s hope Azamara take notice of Bonnie’s suggestion that they add a note above or below the cocktails list suggesting that the list is of ‘suggested cocktails’, so people will know to ask about other possibilities using the included spirits.

That was actually uktog's suggestion.

Why not just close this thread and reopen it on Monday when Bonnie is back, should she wish to respond? I think it’s had its day for now.

Phil

Agree 100%.

This thread should have died a few pages ago. Bonnie confirmed, again, and again what the future held for us all ref the inclusive list. No change.

I do however feel bad that newbies, AZ virgins, etc will head to the bar and order something at $8 a pop when it's actually free. Call me cynical.... but it does smack of commercialism.

Melissa,

Both Lottie A and I have American partners and spend hours correcting their rather dubious Englsh. LOL

A dictionary is a great idea. It would be a thick tome though!

You’re right Phil, it was originally uktog’s suggestion taken up by Bonnie in her last post.

John, I must have drunk at least 50 Aperol Spritz on both Quest and Journey over the last few years and have never paid for any one of them. I just smiled and said "with the included alcohol please" and got them free every time. The sparkling wine is included as is the gin and splash of orange juice. Never had a problem getting the Aperol added.

I will be asking for them again with a smile in two weeks and hoping for the same result!

Do agree that this thread seems to have outrun its usefulness now though, although we all thank you for starting it. It has been very illuminating for many reasons!

That’s interesting, I guess I’ll just ask and keep my fingers crossed! Just one more thing, I’ve never had gin in my Aperol Spritz, so that will be different, but hey ho I’ll give it a go! 🍷👍

I love Aperol Spritz and drink it all the time. I have never yet been charged for it on Azamara.

Lottie, when we were on Quest a few weeks ago the Aperol Spritz was €8,50. I really don't know why they price it so high. As far as I could see it was not in any of the included packages.

Well I guess it's just another one of those Azamara drinks inconsistencies Odd. There seem to be a lot of them!

I have never paid for one of my Aperol Spritz drinks on Azamara. Maybe it's because the bar tender likes me? Just joking of course.

Forgot to say I also like a Mango Martini and I ask nicely for it to be made from the included alcohol and I get that with no problems either. This thread is making me sound like an alcoholic....promise you I'm not!

Lindy, you can have Aperol Spritz either with or without the Gin. The Italians tend to drink it without, but as Gin has now become so popular worldwide the bartenders are adding it to lots of cocktails and aperitifs and Aperol goes very well with Gin! Had one last night.

If you look back at the new menus we posted it’s now on the Prosecco cocktails list which I think is a new addition.

Gin is not listed as an ingredient but it’s priced at$7.95 and included on both the Premium & Ultimate Packages.

Lottie as I said, never had one with gin, I first discovered it on holiday in Italy and I make it at home their way. Am now tempted to try one, right now with gin, as a reward for weeding the garden. I’ll let you know later what I think, if I’m still awake! 😀

I'm back and refreshed after a warm weekend of gardening, making a batch of lime marmalade, and visiting a micro-brewery with DH.

First off, I apologize for losing my cool on Friday.

Second, I promise to deport myself professionally, and as DH reminded me this weekend...to not take things personally.

Third, I do thank all of you for the reassurances and kind posts. I wasn't singling out Phil nor his comment. I suppose just cracked under the weight of all the confusion. I will strive to keep my feelings out of my posts.

As for communicating the suggestion by uktog, I sent the following in a communication with HQ on Friday...

"a solution would be to include a disclaimer on the website and the onboard beverage menu to the tune of “Please note, the complimentary beverages listed below are our suggestions and not the comprehensive list of mixed-drink possibilities. Also note, complimentary beverages are not available for Room Service.” This is an edit to our existing statement on the webpage: https://www.azamaraclubcruises.com/booked-guests/onboard-packages/complimentary-beverages."

Welcome back Bonnie. Glad you had a relaxing weekend.

Time for us all to move on I think.

Am really looking forward to my cruise on Quest in less than two weeks where I know my friends and I will be enjoying complimentary and paid for drinks, each others company, and seeing all our Azamara friends again.

Cheers!😄

Making lime marmalade seems a nice, therapeutic activity - and so does a visit to a micro-brewery. I’m also pleased that you enjoyed your weekend.

Thanks for letting us know about the communication you sent to HQ.

Now, as promised, I will lock this thread.
