Heard changes to Loyalty Program to be announced @ 2018 prez cuise - rumours???

Recommended Posts

A lot of talk on here comparing airlines and hotels perks to cruise line perks.

In my opinion it's like apples and oranges.

Business travel accounts for a lot of perks earned in hotels and planes. If you have a job that requires a lot of travel you build up miles and levels. If you lose the job/stop traveling, of-course they aren't going to give you lifetime benefits. Cruise ships are a different thing. I would say the percentage of people that write of cruises as business expenses is rather small (unless there is a trade convention etc.).

Most people cruise less than twice a year. A lot every 3 or 4 years.

So I don't see any comparison. And doubt even the pencil pushers at Royal, see any reason to emulate the airlines/hotel industry.

True but funny how RCL has decided to emulate land based casino in their casino royale program. Cruise casinos are not even close to land casinos yet they seem to think the programs should be similar.

I wasn't talking about Casino Royale perks in that post. Just regular C&A.

Land based casinos offer a lot more than casino royale. The machines are usually looser. And where I play the blackjack rules are more player friendly.

Most on here probably don't want a lower Pinnacle or another level between D+ and Pinnacle.

If that is the case. I would be willing to bet that Diamonds will be refused access to the (now) Diamond lounge.

The lounges on most ships ( Sept - May) are very crowded. If they have a decent HD and Concierge they open up a satellite lounge. If not it's standing room only till 6 pm.

It wont effect us. But I don't like to see others lose benefits. I'll put up with crowding in the lounges. We have met quite a few very nice people that were or are diamonds.

It's a long haul from D+ to Pinnacle But for those that can and do make it it is great.

It is going to be an interesting cruise on the Harmony Sept 29. With at least 192 Pinnacles.

It's going to be a logistical nightmare. Probably 500 D+'s and 1000 D's.

But we were on the 2016 Presidents cruise and they handled it well. There was some b!tch!n, but we enjoyed it enough to come back for more.

My favorite kind of posts on these pointless threads. The kind that always says they are coming for your perks. Run says chicken little the sky is falling again! Waste of electrons.

Slightly off topic but as a D+, I've spent thousands of dollars and yet the Suite people, who could be first time cruisers, get the prime lounge chairs at the pool deck. Where's the loyalty for that perk? Many days I've seen those chairs go unused and want to jump into one. Just saying....

We are doing our first cruise next March and have a transpacific booked for 2020 as well. Both in a grand suite and that will be 30 nights. These "perks" are part of the fare and that is fair enough.

Don't forget to register for Crown& Anchor Society.

30 nights in a GS gets you 30x2=60 points and very close to Diamond level 80 points and lots of loyalty perks.

Thank you. For many years I wanted to go on a cruise but always had this thing in the back of my head about being stuck in the middle of nowhere with a whole lot of people and not being able to get off if I didn't like it. Then early this year my mother was invited to go on a cruise around New Zealand and she went, not only taking every sickness lotion and potion she could find and never used, but absolutely loved it. That was enough for me so I booked these two and sounds like we will love it from everything I read. Would love to be able to take time off more than once a year but can't. I'm just worried now that we will love it so much it will be an expensive yearly event:D

You will love it,we have done 48 and can't wait till our next cruise.

After being in a grand suite you will be spoilt and only want to sail in a grand suite.

Junior Suites don't get the same perks although you will still get 2 C&A points per night,a bath and decent sized room but a lot cheaper price.

I didn’t know that Celebrity tied a $$ amount in. Several years ago Delta Airlines started including a dollar threshold as part of their program. In addition to Medallian Qualification Miles (MQMs) you also had to achieve medallian qualification DOLLARSs...(MQDs)...this was because folks would take a lot of really cheap flights to get their status up and Delta would end up ‘loosing money’ on the associated perks.

United does the same.

Everyone paying for a few people gaming the system, and then bragging about it. There were some news stories of people making weird trips, that got them lots of miles for very little money.

I love these threads on the "fear" of loosing perks. I'm going on Spectrum of the Seas on the first culturally enriching cruise. The Facebook page and on here, people were extremely upset that there is no Diamond lounge. They were upset that the Solarium was closed to a suite area. They threatened never to go on the ship. I loved reading it.

The reason I loved reading it, is because on my cruise, there will be two Diamond and above members on the cruise. A diamond lounge will be empty. I will most likely have access to the "silver lounge" which is for suite guests also. (so they throw the two diamonds in with the suite guests). Diamonds also have access to the solarium. Yet, the panic set in. More than half the people, did not even know this ship, will be in Asia. All the benefits are designed around the Asian market and any Diamond shows up, they handle. It was just so funny on some of the comments.

Why is this important? Because someone that is Diamond, should know when something doesn't effect them so stop the panic. Will they change tiers, add or remove benefits? I don't know, but I can't control it, so why speculate. Really, the only thing I think that I care about is free booze. Don't take that away.

I agree.

It never made sense to me having all those low levels then such a big gap to D+ and an enormous gap between D+ and Pinnacle.

It's a great marketing tool to have quick jumps from Gold..to Platinum...to Emerald. It was exciting for all of us at one time...err...though I never made it to Emerald. Skipped over that one on longer cruise. ;)

I have previously posted that Suite guests on the new ships deserve a lounge for themselves because of the very high charge for these cabins.

And I don't see the SL going into the smaller ships like Vision class or Radiance, due to the limited amount of full suites on those smaller ships. Other larger ships have exploded with newly formed full suites. The CL/DL set up still works fine on those, IMHO...except for longer ones, TAs, and Presidential cruises that are typically packed with upper tier C&A.

On the current Serenade TA, D+ are banned from the SL. I hear it's the only space not crowded. Safari open as overflow

Oops John, remember....D+ do not have access to SL...unless in full suite. ;)

Though since Serenade has a CL..not a DL...I think that is what you meant. Go give Bella a cookie and get a fresh coffee. :D:cool:
