Milwaukee Eight Posted September 27, 2018 #601 Share Posted September 27, 2018 To remove congestion they could open Deck 17 forward for 11 to 11 beer, wine, and water and Happy Hour for drinks. Why waste the space at night? Sent from my SM-G965U using Forums mobile app I thought that’s were the Suite Deck was with a hot tub and bar. It’s open area. dagunny Posted September 27, 2018 #602 Share Posted September 27, 2018 One could go down to Windjammer for a bite to eat and stay in shorts for Happy Hour. I, personally, would like to give it a shot. Plus it is open air. Keeps the Cruise Crud respitory problem away. Somebody should suggest it next week to Bayley. reallyitsmema Posted September 27, 2018 #604 Share Posted September 27, 2018 That's not a bad idea, that area is never crowded and would allow for those who would like to stay very casual a chance to use their benefits.

Sent from my SM-G965U using Forums mobile app Does Pinnacle also have access to the Suite Deck and bar/hot tub? We have used it but don’t remember if P’s were there. So you wouldn’t be in favor of a location where one doesn’t have “Free” drinks? Sent from my iPhone using Forums

dagunny Posted September 27, 2018 #610 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I will bet P's tip the staff more than suites do, hence the bartenders statement. Sent from my SM-G965U using Forums mobile app

I don’t recall seeing any Pins on the Suite Deck. Is that true on all ships? So there is really no exclusive areas for Suite Guests? Sent from my SM-G965U using Forums mobile app I don’t know about that. I believe probably equal percentages of people between Suites and P’s either tip or don’t tip. Likely same bartenders this week as in April. We had only had 7 P our cruise. Don’t know about 3 of them, but according to bartenders, the two couples did not. The bartenders brought out the shame jar (tip jar) to remind them. Suites already pay more gratuities then other cabins. I always tip and tip well. dagunny Posted September 27, 2018 #614 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I would really like to know how gratuities are actually distributed. Years ago cabin stewards got x dollars, waiters, asst waiters got y, head waiters got z. Are we now subsidizing all crew wages or just specific ones? Understand more for suites due to more to clean. We usually tip barstaff $10 nightly and same for CK staff as waiters change nightly. Concierge and Maitre D's are taken care of at cruise end. We also reward exceptional service with envelopes at cruise end. Staff make or break your cruise experience. Sent from my SM-G965U using Forums mobile app Actually in the past other suite cards, from different decks, would unlock the deck 17 glass hallway doors. Sent from my iPhone using Forums It was back to last fall, almost a year ago for our experience. We had a friend in a GS visit us up on 17. I’m thinking those doors are coded the same as the SL/CK. At that rate I think a Pinnacle card should open it.

robbysbabe Posted September 27, 2018 #620 Share Posted September 27, 2018 (edited) Well this has been quite the read! I am one of those - I see it both ways cruisers... I have sailed in the basement and in many a suite. I am almost to D+ (won't strive for P) I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Suite life and the benefits that go with it! Yes I paid for it and I'm going to enjoy it! And to add to this mix - I am one of those gamblers that get discounted suites (because of my huge donations to the casinos) and a whole different array of extra perks, private parties etc. (Flame me now...) BUT... I also feel loyalty should be rewarded. It's a dying effort and I applaud RCCL for continuing to offer Loyalty and I don't mind sharing it with the Pinnacles. I have met some of the nicest folks. Typically Pinnacles are of the older generation and today's society is so willing to cast them aside; just my humble opinion... maybe they haven't paid for the privileged - but they've earned it. When I sailed and saw the seats taken by the window; my first thought was... they've earned that seat! So many had mobility issues and that might be the best highlight of the day for them for they can not participate in more adventurous activities the boat is offering to young family aged folks. I saw the same gentleman at the same window seat each night (next to his mobility scooter.) On the night he was running late - I saved his seat for him; I offered up as soon as he "drove in." What a pleasant conversation I had with him after he asked me to join him; to learn those were "the seats" he and his late wife would enjoy together. They've paid their dues in other ways... For the OP Andy - just a suggestion. I get what and why your saying - with that, since RCCL presently doesn't meet that need for you; Have you experienced NCL's Haven? I have sailed several times and it's exactly the exclusivity your are requesting. IF your not booked in a Haven Suite - you don't participate in the Haven offerings - Their own restaurant/lounge/bar and pool! I call it a cruise within a cruise! Prices are similar to that of Royals Suites - it may be your answer. Happy sailing to all of us - life's short and we all sure have some tough first world problems!! LOL!! **Editing now - funny enough; I started reading this because I will be sailing on her next May (in a suite) I truly enjoyed the ships review Andy - thank you!
