NZ cruise weather

We are cruising this January Sydney to Sydney around NZ. 4 sea days. Can we expect rough seas?

Generally, totally unpredictable. We've done about 5 or 6 Tasman crossings and a couple have been rough but nothing that ships' stablisers couldn't handle.

All depends if there's any cyclones about. If not, could be perfectly smooth.

We have crossed the Tasman on probably 8 or more NZ cruises. All of these have been in summer. We have never had really rough seas. The worst was probably 6 metres. To me, really rough is 8 metres plus.

We have done many cruises around the area and always been blessed with good weather but you never can tell what is instore.

You could get some around NZ, in Sept 2007 on the old Regal Princess, LA to Sydney (her last cruise as Regal - now Pacific Dawn) we copped a Force 12 gale - 12 metre (40 foot seas) around bottom of NZ South Island. We got hammered for nearly 2 days, damage to bow of ship, buffet closed, elevators closed, a few injuries.

I would expect rough seas and hopefully you get good seas :)
