What are the various ranks for cruisers and how are they determined?

As John&LaLa has stated the ranks are based on post count.

I believe these are the ranks and their corresponding post counts.

"Junior Member" = 0 posts

"Cool Cruiser" = 1 - 2999 posts

"Blue Ribbon Cruiser" = 3000 - 4999 posts

"5,000+ Club" = 5000 - 9999 posts

"10,000+ Club" = 10000 - 19999 posts

"20,000+ Club" = 20000 - 29999 posts

"30,000+ Club" = 30000 - 39999 posts

"40,000+ Club" = 40000 - 49999 posts

"50,000+ Club" = 50000 - 59999 posts

"60,000+ Club" = 60000 - 69999 posts

"70,000+ Club" = 70000 - 79999 posts

"80,000+ Club" = 80000 - 89999 posts

"90,000+ Club" = 90000 - 99999 posts

"100,000+ Club" = 100000 or more posts

Not always!  I'm still listed as a "Blue Ribbon" cruiser.

Since I don't really care what my rank is, I've never gone to the trouble of asking for it to be changed.  :classic_wink:

The next level gets paid 20% more per post.  You are getting cheated.

This is weird!  But I can try to fix it for you if you want me to look into it

Hi Jenn - I chanced upon your reply after trying to enquire about Cruiser ranks as I'm still ranked JUNIOR MEMBER after 12 posts and have no idea how or who to approach to change this? Many thanks in anticipation.

Agree. I noticed mine never updated either when I went over 10K. I thought maybe CC disabled that function.

I had this fixed 🙂  Except for you blue ribbon cruisers - we changed the name of that rank so it might take a few more minutes for that to update - but we are working on fixing that one now as well 🙂

Thanks so much Jenn! 🙂

Thank you for making the correction to mine also.

Curious - where did you find this?? I was hunting around thru helps .. and the only "hit" I got was this post.  Surely -- it's posted somewhere maintained by Cruise Critic.  Not that I don't believe YOU, just that it's odd that something like this should be hidden so well.  Thanks!

I never found those member ranks listed anywhere either. I just deduced that list my noticing the various ranks shown on member profiles and correlating them with the number of posts those members had made. It did take some exploring to find members in each of the higher ranks between the 10,000+ Club and the 100,000+ Club to verify all of those ranks actually existed.

Kudos to you for taking the time and effort to develop this list. Strange tho that if Cruise Critic wants to encourage folks to post in the forum not to publicize well how the ranking system works. It should not be opaque. CC's sister forum TripAdvisor is very open about how it ranks its posters. Even sends you notes encouraging you to keep posting reviews. Are discussion forums viewed differently than review forums perhaps?

It wasn't. I think that all that's happened is that the official post (of which I think there was one once) explaining the titles was deleted when the old (pre-Invision) help forum was deleted.

Who/what is Invision? Thanks!

If you happen to be using a desktop web browser to access this board, take a look at the copyright notice at the bottom of the page.

Invision Community is the new forum software that was implemented last October, replacing the vBulletin software that was used in the previous incarnation of this Cruise Critic site.

I also kind of, sort of, vaguely remember seeing a list of the member rank definitions on the old site, perhaps somewhere with or near the forum guidelines. But I can't find such a list anymore.
