"ODD" THINGS YOU LIKE ABOOUT CRUISING/NCL

Two eggs over easy from the omelette station.  It seems silly because they're so simple, but I never order them at restaurants because they're never cooked right (always too runny or too hard), and they are always cold when they get to your table because eggs cool quickly.  But on the cruise, I can order the eggs, grab some bacon while they're cooking, and take them hot to my table.  Hey, you asked for odd!  🙂

Casino

Thermal Spa

Chocolate croissants every morning

cruising solo (enjoy going with family too but there is something so special about cruising alone that I look forward to those vacations the most)

everything O’Sheehans

watching countless people play the game where you are trying to get plastic piece on a hydraulic pusher to go into the hole to win cash (not sure I am describing this right) and never seeing anyone win

Spent a few too many dollars trying that myself and never won or saw anyone else win either.  Strangely  enough you would go in the next day and one of the holes would be empty of the cash as though someone won.  My guess is the casino emptied it to look like there was a winner.....

For some reason I always become obsessed with one or two food items from the breakfast buffet and eat them every day of the cruise (along with whatever else I get). My first cruise it was  salmon mousse, last cruise it was chocolate croissants and muesli. I can't wait to discover my new obsession in January!

SAME. Mine on Getaway was waffles with whipped cream, fresh fresh fruit and syrup.... Yuuuum

I have a couple fairly peculiar things I enjoy when cruising.  how about y'all?

*I absolutely LOVE tracking the ship's location on the cabin TV.  Sadly, Carnival does this better than NCL, more detailed information about location and the identification of islands nearby. As I become a more seasoned cruiser I have a pretty good idea where we are at and which islands are which, but when I was a newbie I was really interested in learning the names of the islands I could see from my balcony.

*I enjoy the art auction.  I find it fascinating what some people will spend and how many pieces they will wind up purchasing.  (the "champagne" sucks, however. ha!)

*on land I despise buffets, on NCL I absolutely love them.  when they're not crowded I enjoy them even more than the MDR, I think.

I like the "washy washy happy happy"  On our last cruise they actually had a guitar player singing the phrase.

Not sure how "weird" it is, but, after visiting so many islands, I absolutely love sea days.  There's nothing I have to do and I have all day to do it.  Mix in the drink package, and it's just about perfect.

I am with you! I am sailing on the Encore Inaugural Transatlantic next November and aside from the brand new ship, the thing I am looking forward to the most is NINE sea days!

I absolutely love having a little plate of croissants, coffee and juice brought to me in the morning. We call it pre breakfast. It helps to settle my stomach from motion sickness/UBP.  When I am finally up and moving we go and have real breakfast.

I love that nervous/excited feeling upon boarding the ship.

We call it "first breakfast" and "second breakfast". 😋

I limit my first/second 🍳 to on the ship.

Many of my family members do first breakfast & 2nd breakfast every day...  Not just on the cruise 😘

  • Having the server place the napkin on our laps
  • Leaving the table when you're done eating without dealing with the bill
  • Pouring over the daily in my jammies, planning adventures for the next day
  • the scent of the lotion in the Thermal Spa
  • the intense water fall/shower head thing in the spa pool (my shoulders could use that right now)
