Fairsky84 Posted November 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2018 Steal cutting for Carnival’s new LNG ship began today. To celebrate the cruise line revealed a new look for its largest ship ever. It’s nice to see Carnival do something new to the look of their ships, but I’m not sure about this design. Specifically, the dark blue doesn’t appear to match the blue used on Carnival’s iconic funnel. The dark blue makes thes ship look more stately than fun; more Holland America or Cunard than Carnival.
Fairsky84 Posted November 15, 2018 Author #2 Share Posted November 15, 2018 For comparison... the ship with traditional Carnival livery.
Rare pirate4me2 Posted November 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 15, 2018 I'm torn over this....I love the way the traditional ships look, and I just don't know how to feel about this new design. Maybe I just don't take change well. The new design is more elegant looking, but it just doesn't look like a Carnival ship to me.
sanmarcosman Posted November 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2018 The Carnival logo aft near the waterline looks cool but the bow should be the traditional white.
Melissalcsw Posted November 15, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2018 Meh...change can be good. I like it, but it certainly won't affect my cruise lol

Joebucks Posted November 15, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 15, 2018 People will complain, people will like it. I think it looks fresh and tasteful. Hey, it's not a neon-orange ship. I'll take it.
ProgRockCruiser Posted November 15, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 15, 2018 I quite like it. I'm sure the ship will look just a bit different in person, especially the relative size. The sheer number of balconies makes for a slightly monolithic look, broken up by the insets and pop-outs a bit, fortunately. I wonder what it will look like having this XL ship beside Symphony of the Seas in port? Any 3D artists want to have a go at a rendering?
The4Cruisers Posted November 15, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 15, 2018 I don't like it at all, but that's just me. Others seem to really dig it. Good deal for them!
dmdiver Posted November 15, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 15, 2018 I like it. I think the blue on the front just appears darker due to shade/sun effect. As long as Carnival keeps their funnel, there will never be any doubt as to what line you are on.
Pyrate13 Posted November 15, 2018 #11 Share Posted November 15, 2018 I like it. I find the design interesting and eye catching.
xDisconnections Posted November 15, 2018 #12 Share Posted November 15, 2018 In terms of hull artwork, I prefer the sea witch.

hockeyguru32 Posted November 15, 2018 #14 Share Posted November 15, 2018 Now they will have to carry 2 paints colours when they are fixing the rust spots
Treyatl2006 Posted November 15, 2018 #15 Share Posted November 15, 2018 It will look better in person than on this rendering. Im excited to see it in person.
trvlgirlmq Posted November 15, 2018 #16 Share Posted November 15, 2018 I don't love the giant "Carnival" spelled out on the side. The white is so classic and clean. It will take some getting used to I guess.
Cushing985 Posted November 15, 2018 #17 Share Posted November 15, 2018 As long as they don't paint the ship like NCL paints theirs. I kind of like the design but then again, once I'm on the ship I won't be able to see it.
jeff92k7 Posted November 15, 2018 #18 Share Posted November 15, 2018 I like the new livery a lot. Looks fresh and updated. The current livery isn't bad, it's very clean and white, but it has been pretty much the same thing for 30 years now (longer?). It's about time to update it. That said, it certainly isn't as bad as the RIDICULOUS lips and eyes on the Aida ships.

Only one thing, as someone above mentioned, the shade of blue at the bow could be (a good bit) lighter
skyeman27 Posted November 15, 2018 #22 Share Posted November 15, 2018 I like the look a lot, it gives the ship a nice sleek look, plus the blue color will contrast very nicely with the ships bow wave...

tidecat Posted November 16, 2018 #24 Share Posted November 16, 2018 I still think when the Empress of Canada was becoming Mardi Gras, Carnival should have changed Canadian Pacific's red to purple, and left the green. Throw some gold colored trim on that, and Carnival would have well, Carnival (i.e. Mardi Gras) colors.
cruisin-m Posted November 16, 2018 #25 Share Posted November 16, 2018 I love it, it’s about time that they tried a new look, they’ve been rocking the same style for way too long and it was showing its age.
