OP @Ashland- Do you see the info summary box for the links? If so, the link is in the upper right hand corner of the box. It's supposed to be an arrow, but the FontAwesome font reference is broken. Some browsers show a broken character image (very faintly) while others show nothing. Either way, try the upper right corner of the little summary box.

I flagged this as a bug in the old bug forum, but I have no idea of the status. I did not see it in @CC Help Jenn 's update post.

I posted this link for someone and you can't seem to click on it to take you there.

www.southfloridashuttles.com

Copy & paste of text that includes hyperlinks is a known problem. Once you've pasted the text, highlight the link and click the hyperlink button in the toolbar (two links in a chain). Type the url in the window that pops up. (For the link quoted it would be https://www.southfloridashuttles.com.)

If you didn't copy & paste, then you should type the link (url) as shown in the paragraph above. The inclusion of "https://" lets the reply editor easily identify a link.

Are you referring to incomplete URLs without the http or https? I've not run into a problem pasting links from my browser's URL line, but I'm always pasting fully qualified URLs.

I've seen a couple of reports regarding issues copy & pasting text that includes hyperlinks, i.e. text of which only part is a url. I've not had a problem pasting fully qualified url. Nor have I had any problems copying plain text with embedded hyperlinks. This leads me to suspect that the issue may revolve around rich text pastes from external sources.

@Ashland's post #8 was rich text which is what lead me to believe it was pasted. As a test I quoted post #8, inserted https:// then copied the fully qualified url and pasted it. The hyperlink was added. It as also added if I added a hyperlink rather than prefacing the text with https://.

Not a copy & paste......With the old CC site I could just type it out and it worked to add it to post's...Not now....it was so easy before to provide links now this is getting too high tech for me....What's the point ?

I have the same problem with every email I get for the forums. the response i get at the website is. that I’m not authorized to enter it and yet  I am logged in when I go to the help menu.  Very strange.

Oh and now, because I did go to the help subjects I’m logged into this. I will now see if I’m really logged in when I go beck to the page I really want.

This doesn't sound like it's anything to do with the problem reported by the OP, which concerns URLs contained within posts on the forum.

Your problem is what happens when you receive an email from CC and you click on the link to go to the post. In some cases, you are clicking a link that takes you either to a roll call thread or a similar thread that requires you to be logged in even to read it.

But the login system may not log you in immediately. You may have lost the automatic login cookie for some reason, or you may have chosen not to log in automatically when you come to CC.

If you do have an automatic login cookie, it may still require a second page call before you are logged in - hence the first page that you call returns the result you should get if you are not logged in. Sometimes the first CC page will automatically refresh after a second or two, in which you but that process doesn't always work with some browsers or the way that some people have their browsers set up.

Nevertheless, a manual second page call (like coming to the Help forum) will then do the same job, hence you find that you are logged in on the second page call. And then you will be logged in when navigating to any other forum pages.

Thank you for the quick response. I will check about the login cookie. I should now be able to figure it out. Wheeeee!

So having to type in a complete address is too difficult? Seven extra keystrokes is enough to make one abandon a website?

The wear and tear on the T key gets to be pretty extreme. :classic_wink:

I've noticed, when I go to Cruise Critic the first time each day, the "Log In" icon shows.  If I wait a minute, it changes to "Log Out".  Then back to "Log In" and finally, again, to "Log Out".

I think has something to do with having to log into Cruise Critic, and then log into the actual cruise forum.

But, it's automatic, if I wait......

You seem to find all things with the new CC website so easy...Sad you can't understand the many changes are difficult for some of us and just asking a question elicits sarcasm.

I do understand that getting used to new systems is difficult, especially when there is zero real preparation or assistance provided. (How hard would it have been for CC to post a couple of videos showing important concepts?) But I also get frustrated with people that figuratively throw up their hands and give up when a reasonably simple solution is provided.

Maybe if you had spent a bit more time listening to the suggestions being made here by numerous members about how to use the new boards software effectively and efficiently, and a bit less time spamming virtually every Help forum thread with your complaints about how you hate the new software, you'd be a bit further ahead. All of us here have had to climb that learning curve, and many members have had the benefit of focused help when they've come to ask questions about how to do things.

At any rate, AlanF65's post above contains just about everything you need to know about doing this.
