New Amex Offer

I went down to the desk this afternoon and asked for $500 in OBC.   He looked up my account and said, this is the card that is registered with the cruise.   I said I knew but I just wanted to put it on my account.     NOPE.  They could not do it.

I do want to say thank you to the OP. We did the internet, coffee cards, and the rest is onboard credit with this offer (which was available in one of our AmEx).

AmEx immediately confirmed we will receive the credit once we sail.

Much appreciated!

What kind of confirmation did you receive? I ordered OBC and the charge shows up, but no acknowledgement of the $100. credit. Should I call?

How long ago?

It takes a couple of days.

You DID get the offer and put it on your account first - right?

i purchased obc for my upcoming cruise and received an email from amex that i had used the offer...BUT i have my amex email preferences  such that any time i use an offer, it alerts me it has been activated.  (i'm not sure if i set that up or if it does it as a default).  i also have the app send me a push notification when one is used.

now i shall wait and see if the statement credit actually appears, which with amex can take anywhere from 48 hours -4 weeks.

Thank you for that answer I did this offer last spring and rememeber it took a week or so for the $100. credit to appear. I did see that the offer attached to my Amex account number right after I clicked on the link here, so hoping it works like it did last time for me! I just purchased $500. of OBC for my cruise tht starts Dec 5.

just to update...my statement credit has appeared!  i purchased the obc on tuesday, i think.  (maybe wednesday?  it's been one of those weeks, lol!) so it does work for purchasing obc in the cruise personalizer on an already booked cruise!

Thanks for coming back to let us know! Looking forward to mine posting in a  day or so as I just did the offer  last evening!

Has anyone used the offer recently to purchase OBC?

I'm trying to remember the procedure for redeeming while on the ship.

I seem to remember getting vouchers in our cabin and going to the casino to cash them in.

Is that how it's currently done?

And Happy Thanksgiving to All !!!

And, again, back to my question of how to redeem.....

Has anyone used the offer recently to purchase OBC?

Is this correct?

Has anyone received cash for OBC while on the ship recently?

This is the last night of our cruise.  I received an email from AMEX late afternoon of a charge for $61.  I know my bill was much higher but did not bother to go to the desk.  Figured I would see what the final statement says.   Just now, my phone pinged and an email came with a charge from Princess of $468.     I hope I will get my $100.     I have never had two charges from them on the last night.

Thanks but it didn't work for me 😞 Branded Amex is probably why

The backdoor is for those who didn't have the offer when you log in initially.  You must click through that link, log in to your AMEX to add the offer:

Some were able to get this offer this way...

Have any of you who do not see the offer tried the travel category? Click on category, and when the different categories come up click on travel. The last time this was being offered, I did not see it when I went through my offers, but it was there when I clicked on travel, and I was able to download it and take advantage of the offer.

Thanks for the link on the backdoor offer, I initially didn't have it. I used it for some casino credits for a trip that I had previously booked. It doesn't fall into the parameters of the dates to be booked between but I believe others have had the same issue and received the credit. I'll wait and see what happens, hopefully, it will be accepted.

My husband and I booked a 2019 Alaskan cruise a few months ago and have been hoping at some point to find a promotional Princess credit through Delta's Am Ex card--but it seems like they're rare.  So we were thrilled to read about this on Cruise Critic!

We technically have one Delta AM EX account---but each of us has our own Am Ex credit card number (different five-digit suffixes).  I logged into both of our Delta Am Ex sites, and I found the offer for World's Leading Cruise Lines ONLY on mine.  So I accepted the offer, and it was added to my card profile.

Then I logged into the Princess website and purchased some of the items in my cart (soda packages, bottled water, photo package) and added in enough OBC to go over the $500 mark . . . enough for the credit to be activated.  Or so I thought.  Turns out that on the Princess website, I had to enter the exact name and address of the main AM EX account holder--which is my husband.  And wouldn't you know it . . . because he didn't have the Princess benefit specifically listed on his benefits page, my $500 purchase did not trigger the $100 credit.  ARGH!!!!

So then I tried a different approach.  I sent an email this morning to my AAA travel agent.  She applied a $500 Am Ex payment to my existing Alaska reservation . . . and BAM!  Within an hour, I'd received the email from American Express that if my purchase meets the offer terms (which it should), I had successfully redeemed the offer.  I'm not sure how long it will take for it to appear on my online AM EX statement, but I'll keep looking for it over the next few days and will update this post at that time.

It's unfortunate that I had to put forth a little more cash towards my Alaska cruise balance right before Christmas . . . but I'm so excited to receive the $100 credit!

….so this in the offer....."valid only for reservations booked from 11/20/18-3/31/19" doesn't mean you need to make a new booking?

Nope. Just buy casino credit, OBC, etc and use it that way.

My husband's card has immediate confirmation that he qualified. Our order was for $502.

Thanks, you did the offer correctly !

Here is a word of warning to others as I ALMOST lost out on this offer because I was not on my home computer  or even in my state, and paid for my OBC's using my Amex card through Paypal (for safety reasons.) Using Paypal does NOT trigger the offer as the conditions state you must pay the cruiseline DIRECTLY with your Amex card.  BUT I did find a solution to my dilemma:: I cancelled that order for OBC and then re-bought the $500. of OBC directly through my Amex card on the Princess website. Also, be sure and click REDEEM now on the offer on your Amex offer list BEFORE ordering. I just got the email that the AMEX offer transaction was successful. Hoping the $100. statement credit shows up soon!  I ALMOST blew it!

I just got $200 obc by charging my cruise on the Platinum Amex card.

We usually charge our cruises on our Amex Platinum but have never received OBC for doing so.

Did you book through an Amex agent?

Was it a regular cabin or a suite?

I also get the 200obc for charging to my  Amex platinum - it’s a benefit exclusively for the platinum card.   You have to use an Amex affiliated travel agent, and I can’t post mine here but it’s one that caters to military and sells homeowners insurance 🙂. The agent has to have access to the Amex system to get your reservation linked in and get it in the reservation.  Or you can book directly through Amex.  You can get it every time you book, on almost any type cabin, on most of the ccl owned cruise lines as well as a few others (I think celebrity is one but I can’t remember!)  If you go on amex’s Website and find the cruise benefits page it lists all of the info.
