kb4683 Posted December 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2018 With the new wine list being released, have there been changes to the wine packages? Our last cruise was April, 2018 and the packages were priced the same as they were back in 2012 (before 15% gratuity): Silver Tier Bottle Program (Tier 1) - any bottle up to $31 7 Bottle Pack $161 10 Bottle Pack $210 12 Bottle Pack $240 Gold Tier Bottle Program (Tier 2) - any bottle up to $45 7 Bottle Pack $217 10 Bottle Pack $290 12 Bottle Pack $336
KevintheIrishDJ Posted December 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2018 Unfortunately, the ship may be out of wines that are on the list. That is why we bring our own.
Astro Flyer Posted December 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2018 (edited) With the new wine list only having a couple of bottles that are up to $31 it’s been recently reported that the Silver package has been eliminated. Another report said that numerous sources on a ship said all wine packages we’re being phased out. Have not read about a price increase but with higher wine prices that could eventually change if they continue to offer a wine package. Only time will tell if that’s accurate or not but during the transition to the new wine list more shortages of inventory have been reported. We’ve never experienced being unable to get our preferred wine but during the transition it appears to be more of a problem. elliair Posted December 15, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 15, 2018 We were recently on a 19-day Panama Canal cruise and the only wine package available was the Gold Package. The silver package is no longer available. We purchased it in the MDR at lunch on embarkation day. A couple of passengers were told that no wine package was available at all. We purchased 2 gold package at $333.00 each (10 bottles per package).

Rare Denmal Posted December 15, 2018 #11 Share Posted December 15, 2018 (edited) On the Panama canal cruise, were there sales people in the common areas selling the package or did you just ask the waiter in the MDR?? Also, if you get the package and do not finish a bottle, I know they will save it but can you take it with you from the dining room ? - say to your room ? You can take an opened or unopened bottle with you from the dining room. They are only picky about the passengers taking the crystal glasses but those are only available in Club Class and Vines anyway. You are able to get the thick rimmed glasses from your room steward or from a bar to take to your room along with your wine. Or, you can walk out of the dining room with your wine glass as well ... just not the really good glasses.

Simi Landslide was our fave on the list in the price category.... and the two others we were going to try on the list, they were also out of also,...Silverado and Mondavi. We were even going to pay the difference between the $45 and the actually price of the bottle...no go.

Yes, carry on. I have a new wine carrier suitcase on rollers to carry-on for our next cruise They usually have a table located near the scanners in San Francisco to check in your wine, pay and get your stickers. They take your name, cabin, wine quantity.

We drank a fair amount of Caymus which was $92 on our sailing and now I see it's over $100 on the new list. Hopefully with the new list we won't run into the same problem! We stopped at the table and they just checked that it was indeed wine/champagne and send us on our way. No stickers, we just paid corkage if we brought it to the dining room. (We also have the rolling carry-on for wine but didn't use it last time since we were sailing from Barcelona and it was just one more piece of luggage to lug)

Like ourselves, they don't know much about wines but have a few favorites. None were on the list. They ordered a white and red and paid over $30 each. The didn't like either one. The got home and found out Total Wine sells them for $7 each. That is why we bring on our own wine by the case.
