Just sail out of San Juan on another ship. The flight is marginally longer and roughly the same price from anywhere in the US. Plus the itinerary's are better overall IMO.

Glad you found a good cruise out of San Juan.

While may be true about flight time if on the East Coast it is much further from the West Coast.   Flight time is 10 hours + SFO to San Juan.    We can fly to London just as fast.    I do enjoy sailing out of San Juan but wish it were closer.

Simply my opinion, as others have theirs.  I never said I didn’t respect feedback, so please don’t put words in my mouth or devalue my opinion.  Thanks for contributing.  :classic_sad:

I may be wrong but it seems to me most of the more glowing reviews were those who were on the pre-revenue cruises who were either comped as being in the media, bloggers, TA's, etc. or those who are high rollers in the casino who got either comped or considerable discounts across the line and would not want to seem ungrateful so as not to get offered future perks. I still find here on CC, the reviews that describe the highs and lows I value the most are those who paid full fare. Unfortunately for us we are now unable to travel due to my

husband's health issues.

I would have loved a discount.  I traveled on one of the first revenue cruises, with many others... at full price.  I loved it and will do it again.  In fact I will book the Apex inaugural soon.  I think Celebrity has really come onto something new here, not just for millennials but for a new cruise experience for all ages.  Will it be tweeked, sure, but I think they are very close to success.  It is pricier than we are used to, but I think the upgraded experience is worth it. Happy cruising!

The continuing saga of 'what someone told them' or 'they gleaned from..' etc... LOL

Thanks for your input on this...

bon voyage

Bo exactly why are you who never has been on Edge yet always so ready to jump on anything the least bit critical about Edge? And you say you have no affiliation with the brand. Still makes me wonder.

You are so wrong, many comments here on CC have come from members who did a charity cruise and were very happy to aid a good cause.

I am truly sorry to hear you had to cancel the cruise you booked after canceling the Edge, hope your husband is on the mend.

Sorry if you interpreted it that way, I meant people who had a financial reason for saying good things about the line. Obviously someone who donated to charity is not included in that population. I consider them the paying passengers. I don't consider a charitable contribution a perk.  I strictly meant people who were going on the cruise so they could help promote the Edge in advertisings, bookings or because they get comped as high rollers. I have a friend who gambles a lot and she travels all the time for either free or at a very reduced cost. My apologies to anyone if it came off that way.   Thank you I was so excited about the Royal Suite and had actually bid on the penthouse.  Now all 3 cabins we have to let go and I don't know how long before the insurance will make the refund.  Luckily our oncologist is personal friends with the owner of Royal Caribbean and he said he would help us if there was any problem at all. I really wanted to try out Celebrity again but my husband needs immediate treatment for his compromised immune system due to a form of leukemia and he cannot be exposed to large groups of people during treatment.

I hope you all have a wonderful cruise on the Edge or any other line you choose.

I wish your husband a speedy recovery and that your family can reschedule a great cruise down the road.  I’m sure it was disappointing to have to cancel but your husband’s medical condition and further health are paramount.

We will be on the Edge on the 20th and it will be a real test as to whether this is the ship for us but we are going in with open minds and hoping some things we disliked before have changed and our likes are still there and maybe better.  It will be the first time in the Retreat for us, so looking forward to that.  Katie

Thank you Katie. We booked this kind of last minute because we had an all clear for 3 months then Christmas Eve everything changed. He feels well, that's what is so weird about this disease. Just a routine blood work showed it. But doctor feels after 2 months we can be in a position to travel again. That's why I am still on the Boards - ever hopeful!  Again, have a wonderful time weather is fabulous.

No need to wonder. I have no affiliation with X, except for the fact that I fork over fares to them regularly and willingly and with relatively few complaints.

My comments are are usually in response to general comments and was hardly specific to someone who has actually sailed The Edge.

In this particular case, I responded to a comment which was not factual and supported by a few posts in this thread and photos in others.

If you believe that the poster is in fact correct or that I and others have mid-interpreted the post, please correct me(us) and I will absolutely humbly apologize for my comment(s) as they were.

If the poster returns to update the original post, I accept that accordingly as well.

Bon voyage

kkmiausa:  The positive reviews I value most are from vtcruising, who sailed on the very 'non-revenue' cruises you disdain – but who has established her creds very solidly as not having 'a financial reason for saying good things about the line.'  So I think your comment is a vast over-simplification.  Some of those who sailed as regular customers have loved Edge, and some have not – same as any cruise line, ship, voyage on Cruise Critic.  Ultimately, the only way to really know is to sail yourself, but that is financially unwise.  So the next best is to wait a year and see how the reviews stabilize.  I pray that your husband's medical situation will have resolved by then, and you can make a decision with full knowledge!

That is interesting. Can you not get direct flights to San Juan from the west coast?

You always call it how you see it . I think from the EDGE  threads you truly are excited about EDGE ( even EDEN) ...and you want your friends/ family group to be  happy and upbeat too..nothing wrong with enthusiam!

.Btw.. Did you get to reserve  for the special dinner in Fine Cut Steak?

h - Thank you for your kind words... cocktails on me!

My anxiety point, even though I know it is months away!!!

FCS is not confirmed yet... neither are our MDR requests.

I understand that our reservations are low priority, currently. I use to call every week about them, then calmed down to every other week and starting next week it will be every three (3) weeks... :classic_biggrin:

Yet, I think I will resolve to let our TA handle it and 'knot' worry about it until 90 days out if still not confirmed... we shall see though... can I do it? Taking side bets now... will post the odds later. LOL

I eagerly await your review(s)....

bon voyage
