cbb Posted February 20, 2019 #801 Share Posted February 20, 2019 posting menus to the tv is a nice touch and one that we'll look at frequently this summer and ATW20. That is quite a convenience--sometimes there are things we would like for sea days in the MDR but forget to wander down and look at the menu posted. we really wish they'd establish an intranet. Thanks for the info.

We notice that when people are in the tropics, have gone swimming/snorkeling, etc. they are less likely to eat MDR dinners and to go for the sushi & salads and to not have to dress up. Just too much effort when you're on 'island time!" 5 hours ago, Go-Bucks! said: It's not bad at all....I meant that the outdoor seating isn't a secret. We're able to get a table out there for any meal we've had so far. Obviously, as the weather gets ridiculously hot (SE Asia, India, Middle East) I doubt if nearly as many people will opt to eat out there. But right now it's quite nice. We also like the atmosphere of the GDR so we eat there too. Depends alot on what's on the menu...so nice that it's now listed on the TV! 5 hours ago, Go-Bucks! said: It's not bad at all....I meant that the outdoor seating isn't a secret. For sure. Love the terrace so I don't have to dress and the food is as good or better that the MDR. Each to his own.

Rare ORV Posted February 21, 2019 #816 Share Posted February 21, 2019 I thought your name was familiar. I've got no cruises coming up until Sept, but you never know when that might change. Fortunately our winter here in Southern Missouri has been mild compared to most of the rest of the county. I wish I was on a cruise though. Cyclones build for days and usually run up and down the coast until they finally turn. There are reports of cruise ships waiting in New Caledonia because they won’t risk it yet but you are behind them. Just wanted to wish you all well. Bob Just finished reading all the posts since returning from 4 weeks on the Escape. What a trip it has been and three quarters of the trip left to play. I have enjoyed all the pics and stories. What great things Oceania has done for all of you. Can't wait for my 3 weeks on the Insignia in July. How are you doing, feeling good, does it feel like you just left home. What stories we have being on the Noro Cruise Lines Escape. Joe & Mary are doing great. Jim & Barbara, Steve & Mary, Paul, Sharon and of course Tom send their good wishes and we all missed you. We talked about you constantly, Bob's in LA, in Hawaii, etc. I do proudly note we won both Progressives, the second by over 40 points! The trivias were very controversial. But did not surpass my NYC Excursion on Feb 3. Details like these will await your return, we will need a weekend to review our experiences. I will keep up for a couple more days then it will be GEM time until 3-8. Will be home until 4-27 TA. Do you know if Caroline is doing the GEM on 2-25? bob brown Posted February 22, 2019 #820 Share Posted February 22, 2019 Had a wonderful tour in Suva, Fiji yesterday...went to their cultural center, where we were treated to some wonderful historical performances by Fire-walkers, and dancers. They did a re-enactment of how their ancestors had tribal wars, and touched on cannibalism. The Suva bus terminal was organized chaos after school dismissal...

RetiredLifer Posted February 23, 2019 #822 Share Posted February 23, 2019 A Wonderful but cool day in Hobart, Tasmania after arriving yesterday from Wisconsin were in the last four weeks we had 40 inches of snow, an Arctic Vortex with record breaking cold temps and 2 ice storms thrown in for “fun.” Will be in Tasmania until the first of March when we return to Sydney and join the Insignia on the fourth. “What’s In Port” says there will be three ships in port that day. The Queen Elizabeth at the Overseas Passenger Terminal and the Insignia and the Pacific Explorer at White Bay. The latest forecast for the fourth which seems to change daily is mostly sunny with a high of 82. Enjoy the beautiful and wonderful country of New Zealand and we will see you all soon. bob brown Posted February 23, 2019 #823 Share Posted February 23, 2019 Today was another fun day at sea... The entire ship’s crew entertained us with each department hosting a “booth” around the pool deck with appropriate skills activity, during the “Country Fair”... Participants received raffle tickets for various prizes, while the band played.😎
roothy123 Posted February 23, 2019 #824 Share Posted February 23, 2019 We had something similar on our cruise in the South Pacific. I laughed SO hard at the Whack a Mole booth that one Oceania crew department came up with. I'm not crazy about sea days and that cruise had a lot. However, things like this made the sea days go a lot faster for me. Thanks for all the great pictures.
bob brown Posted February 24, 2019 #825 Share Posted February 24, 2019 (edited) Another relaxing day at sea... Today was a “first” for Oceania, according to Damien...we had an exclusive cocktail gathering for ATW passengers in the Insignia Lounge at 11:15, where they showed us a photo-show of some of us enjoying ourselves both aboard and ashore, after which we were escorted in small groups to the Grande Dining Room, which was reserved just for us. We were treated to a very special fixed lucheon menu, with very limited choices. On past ATW cruises, this was done in the specialty restaurant’s, but we had way too many for that, this time. It was a delicious lunch, and at the end, the cooks and waiters paraded around the room to appreciative applause...😎👌 Edited February 24, 2019 by bob brown
