Drink on Us Casino Card

I think it actually depends on the length of the cruise for slots.  1500 points on shorter cruises, 2000 (or 2500) on longer.  I have no idea what the calculation is for table games, but slots is fairly straightforward.  When you hit the required points, take your card to the cage and ask for the card.

It was 1500 slot points on 7 day cruises.  Notify one of the roving casino crew and they can issue you the card as you play.  Or, if you book a premier or ultra casino cruise fare, you will find a DOU card along with a few other goodies  in your cabin when you embark the very 1st day.

It was 1500 points on the Horizon 8 day, last month.

I personally am not a fan of it. You have to wait for a server to come around, and cannot just go to the bar and get your drink. By the time a server comes back with the drink I could be done with the machine and moved to another, or be done and ready to leave the casino. Didn't get much use out of it.

Any idea on how easy or difficult it is to get 1500 points?

I forget how the points were calculated last time I was in a Carnival casino.

It's fairly easy if you're my wife. 🙂

Takes me longer.

It's based on play, not on how much YOU personally play.

Not a true fixed number, but it's going to cost about $1000 of play. Not $1000 out of your pocket, but about $1000 played.

Let's say you put in $100, win $1000, then play all that and walk away, You only lost $100, but the total money played would be $1100.  That would probably get you the 1500 points and qualify you for the card.

But, like Mike said earlier,,, don't play for the card. The service and the drinks are far and few between. You can only get drinks while "Playing" in the casino. The card is just a side perk for the money donated.

It's 1,000 points on a short cruise and 1,500 on a 7+ day cruise. I usually reach the Drinks on Us card on the second day on both shorter and longer cruises. I usually only play slots. We usually cruise 4-5 times a year on Carnival, the last time in Nov. and those were the point numbers at that time unless things have changed. I have found that once I order my first DOU drink, the same waiter will come around often. I also tip him/her a few dollars.

I tip a $1 a drink with the DOU card and I always have it.  I have no problem getting continuous drinks and If I move, they find me.

Same with me- I am surprised others have issues.

Same here. They remember my name, preferred drink, and folio number. I also remember their names and tips and put them on my reviews by name. Only times when waiters get scarce is during dinner time when they send the waiters to the dining rooms, and very late at night (1am and later) when they have only a few on duty.

All the dealers in the casino have that green card. I wonder if they would part with it at the end of their contract, or if they have to turn them in. I may still have the old Carnival Fun Points credit card. Interested?

.

Yes please I'm very interested! Thank you for offering it to me.

Much appreciated (many ppl are cagey about such).

We aren't allowed to Private Message here on CruiseCritic,

but please contact me via email

where I can let you know my address in Barbados.... DH-Jennie (at) outlook dot com

If you're worried about personal info  on the card (mag-stripe on the back)

just run a refrigerator magnet up and down that mag-stripe 2 or 3 times,

and that'll void/scramble/obliterate any info on it!

If I don't hear from you that way,

I'll gladly post me address here, for all to see.

I'm not too worried about strange folks showing up where I live...

if the Claymores in the driveway don't get ya, the Pit Bulls will - lol

Those green cards are Crew cards

that serve the same function our passenger cards do...

to buy stuff and possibly to get on/off the ship.

I've collected quite a few, mainly from cabin-steward staff in the hallways.

If you see enough of them,

you'll notice difrnt employment categories right below their names.

So far I have cards from Housekeeping, Rest. Services, Musicians,

Guest Services and Entertainment -that last one from an Asst. Cruise Director,

and thank you again, Stephanie A!

Yep, I also keep notes so I can remember wait staff from ship to ship since frequently they remember me.

The standard point level that must be reached to qualify from slot play is 1,000 points on sailings less than 5 days and 1,500 points on sailings 5 days or longer. For slots, $2.50 coin-in equals 1 point. For video poker, $5.00 coin-in equals 1 points. So for 5-days or longer, that is a total of $3,750 coin-in for slots, $7,500 for video poker. For table games, players are rated based on the amount of their bets and the amount of time they have played.

For the DOU card, a couple of hours of $6 blackjack isn't going to cut it. The casino manager on my last cruise stated that it can vary per ship, but in general, they want to see a minimum of $10-15 per hand for at least 4 hours over a 2-3 day period (on a 7-day cruise) before they will even consider it.

Of course, tipping the dealers helps. On that same cruise, I immediately started playing $1 every hand for the dealer on the 3 card bonus at a $5 game. A couple of hours in, the pit boss was picking up the tab for my drinks, and the next day, after probably a couple more hours of the same, I was given the DOU card.
