getting change while on ship

I am sailing on the Norwegian Breakaway (March 31, 2019).  Can I get change while I am on the ship?  If so, where do I go to, to get change (ones and fives)?

I just want to keep sure I have plenty of change for tips, especially while in port (I also tip extra while I am on the cruise ship).

Easiest to bring it with you.

The casino cage will do some cash-for-cash transactions, but may not be what you want. Casino ATMs sometimes will break bills (but not consistently and it is slow to break a $20 into $5s and $5s into $1s with people waiting behind you.

Agree that the cashier in the casino is an option, we go to the bank before we travel and buy a $100 stack of $1s and of $5s...keep some in our pockets for tipping on board and stash the balance in the in-room safe

As others have said, it’s easiest to bring small bills with you.  I always get about $50 in 1’s and $75 in 5’s from the bank before I leave home.  Guest Services is pretty good about breaking larger bills, but I don’t want to depend on that.

We do like ProfessorMA and Peachpooh, we get a stack of singles and other small bill's before leaving home.

Years ago when ships had passenger laundry rooms we used to get quarters from the casino. Everything is more automated now so I think the amount of change available may be limited.

Every NCL ship on which I have sailed had a redemption/change machine in the casino.  Go in an off hour (like in the morning) and you will have no problem turning $20s into piles of $5s and $1s.

I find this thread funny. I never leave home with anything smaller than a $20 and end up pcoming back with a stack of $1's and $5.

OP can get change at Guest Services or at the Casino.

You can always break bills in the casino while at sea.

Not always. We've had issues at the end of the week getting $5s and $1s at the casino (both in bill breakers and at the cage). This was either on the Getaway or the Escape. After that, I always make sure I have an excess of small bills on a cruise. It is much easier just to bring it with you.

We always get small bills at our bank before leaving but if you run low, yes, the casino has machines that will change bills to smaller ones and the purser will as well, but remember the purser can get very busy from time to time. Try and get change when the desk isn't backed up.

The Gem had a change machine in the casino -- it wasn't the ATM, it was a standalone change machine.

Yes I saw that too. I tried to use it at the end of the cruise  but it was empty! I guess it is popular.
