cruisegirl1 Posted April 10, 2019 #26 Share Posted April 10, 2019 I can imagine a potential issue if someone with a drink package also pays for a drink. There is nothing to stop the passenger from going to guest services and saying that they were charged for a drink but they have the package. GS would the refund the charged drink. itsmeagain Posted April 10, 2019 #27 Share Posted April 10, 2019 In the old days, I would get the package and wife would not. She does not drink as much. More than once when I ordered my drink and one for her at the same time they asked for her card because it was easier to ring up. Also in one discussion I had with food and beverage manager he said that people would purchase the package, then purchase drinks for someone else and at the end of the cruise go to guess services and ask why they were being charged for drinks. As long as they did not sign the receipt and were careful they could get away with it most times. now with the new rule, I don’t purchase the package because wife does not drink that much and we do not drink soda at all so the refreshment would be a major waste. Get to drink free in the casino anyways, so it was a little waste in the past.

We all buy the drink package now though so I haven't attempted any of the above scenarios in awhile! I'm just off Mariner last month, and again I couldn't buy more than one with just my card. Maybe because it was the height of spring break??? Pool bartender told me they needed to see who was receiving the extra cocktails (and I'm in my 40s, so definitely not a spring breaker). That makes sense, I expect spring break ups the scrutiny! We sailed over college spring break too but all of us had the drink package and thankfully an attentive waiter that found us in our solarium loungers so we didn't have to brave the bar too often, that was always crowded! The bartenders (several different ones) would tell me they needed my wife's card so they could charge her for it. I told them to put it on my card. They couldn't figure out why someone with a drink package would want to pay for a drink. My guess is that so many people are trying to scam the system and get multiple free drinks with one trip to the bar that they no longer trust anyone to be honest. see, they are forcing you to cheat on the system that really bad. They also charge anyone they want, I had the refreshment package and asked for sparking water her machine wasn't working so she asked for my room number when I went to my room it was charged on my girlfriend sea pass. Why? I had the package, I went to guess service to have the charge removed.

M True, unless the bartender was savvy enough to get a signed receipt showing the person received their free drink and purchased another in the same transaction. They are supposed to get a signed receipt for any purchase. Without the passenger's signature, there is no proof that the transaction occurred. I know every time I purchased a drink for my wife I signed the receipt. But, then again, I wasn't trying to get away with anything.

As long as people don't start claiming "I forgot to read what I was signing, I thought it said $0.00 and they just wanted a tip" or "that's not my signature" but unfortunately I can see people trying that too! nanowerx Posted April 11, 2019 #40 Share Posted April 11, 2019 I don't really drink mixed drinks much, but I love having a shot and a beer. With the Deluxe Package, would I have to order my beer, then wait a few minutes to grab my shot? If so, that is going to be a bummer.

Only one time have I seen bartender set up a shot and a beer on the package. The guy even asked if it was OK when he ordered. Bartender said no problem. I wouldn't think it would be a problem seeing as you're drinking both drinks. Of course, your experience may vary.

My buddy and I (both with the package) did this a few times and had no problem. We were seated at the bar and not walking away so that may have been a factor. We were also able to order a double shot of bourbon (in the same glass) to walk away with
