cantw82cruise Posted April 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2019 We will be on the Horizon sailing 5/4, this will be our first time cruising over Cinco De Mayo does any one know if Carnival has any type of celebration? Thanks,
Rare crewsweeper Posted April 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2019 I'm not aware of any. Maybe they serve tacos. If you're in Mexico, you won't find much either, outside of bars catering to American tourists. It's more a Gringo holiday ginned up by Constellation Brands to promote their version of yellow water. Real event though occurred that day but not Mexican Independence. Mexican Independence Day is in September.
Garth2 Posted April 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2019 When we sailed to Mexico on the Elation there was nothing to mark the occasion.
fabby50 Posted April 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2019 It isn't really a celebrated holiday in Mexico, more an American thing. Independence Day is 9/16. I don't think the cruise lines acknowledge any Independence Days.
cantw82cruise Posted April 15, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted April 15, 2019 Thanks for the input. I was thinking maybe they would have a party of some sort it will be a sea day. We have cruised international talk like a pirate day and they had a party for that.

NauticalNeophyte Posted April 15, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2019 (edited) Last year there was a deck party on Triumph. There were decorations , music, a n out of place but fun conga line and festive vibe. I had a really good time. Butterbean1000 Posted April 15, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 15, 2019 I work with a few people from Mexico. They said Cinco de Mayo is totally an American thing. They don't celebrate it. Like stated above, it is not their independence day.

Homosassa Posted April 15, 2019 #10 Share Posted April 15, 2019 Carnival will not pass up an opportunity to push the booze at its passengers. At the least, there will be some type of liquor "bargain" such as a pitcher of margaritas.

I looked there first before posting over here. Thanks, https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1394/~/celebrating-holidays This was my second "holiday" on Carnival. The other being Super Bowl. I was on the Fascination for this, which had a heavier latin theme already since it sails out of PR. Maybe I was being a stick in the mud, but I didn't notice too much going on for Cinco de Mayo. The Fascination also doesn't have the big screen for movies so there's that. Blue Iguana made my day, as always though. Tacos and margaritas on the Carribean seas did the trick!

I've done 4th of July on Glory - not too much. But the SuperBowl is funny - it may have been the Fascination we were on as well, but it was a much bigger holiday - FIFA World Cup! Crew paid attention that week!
OCruisers Posted April 15, 2019 #15 Share Posted April 15, 2019 While Cinco de Mayo is mainy celebrated in the USA, most Carnival passengers are from the USA so it's great to have some sort of fun celebration.
