briehon Posted April 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Can I take a doggie bag say from a specialty restaurant if I don't finish what I order? I hate wasting food and sometimes, since I have paid extra for it, would prefer my leftovers to something I can get at the windjammer for breakfast or lunch. Jimnbigd Posted April 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2019 You might be able to take a doggie bag, but you won't have any way to heat it up. I've taken dessert to-go from the dining room to eat later that night.
schmeed Posted April 18, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Yes, you can. They will offer to go containers. As Jim stated, heating it up won't be too easy.
cruisegirl1 Posted April 18, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2019 (edited) Also, often the refrigerators are simple coolers rather than true refrigerators and won't keep an item cold enough for safe eating later. but, I guess if you have a dog on board.........Wait....... that is another thread! m Edited April 18, 2019 by cruisegirl1 2
spookwife Posted April 18, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Dessert is fine. You won’t really be able to safely store or heat anything else.
Merion_Mom Posted April 18, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Bring baggies with you. Put the leftover food in the baggie. Seal. Put it inside your ice bucket and put the ice bucket in your refrigerator. 4

Put them in a baggie on ice but never thought about that refrig/cooler. That would provide great insulation!
Rare tennislvr8 Posted April 19, 2019 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2019 They don't have doggie bags, they have plates with lids, the same as if ordered from room service.

The only things you can take off the ship are factory sealed items such as packets of crackers, nuts, little cereal boxes, protein bars and the like. leerobbs Posted April 19, 2019 #16 Share Posted April 19, 2019 Stop! That is just not cool. A doggie bag for leftover food on a cruise ship...you can't be serious...the whole idea is kinda funny though since it's over the top ridiculous.
sandebeach Posted April 19, 2019 #17 Share Posted April 19, 2019 We have often brought our dessert back to our room, because we have felt too full to enjoy it. Just remember to also get a fork to bring with you.
SAmome Posted April 19, 2019 #18 Share Posted April 19, 2019 Since it could be used for sharing with others back in the room; say parents get UDP and order multiple entrees and bring pasta, most of a steak and fixings back for teens to eat right then, it's probably something RCCL should NOT allow for those with the unlimited plan. If specialty dining not related to Unlimited, fine, but likely not a great idea (outside of dessert) for the reasons mentioned above and a hassle for servers.

vickiw0318 Posted April 19, 2019 #20 Share Posted April 19, 2019 I have done it with dessert as well - especially back in the day when Portofino offered those oh so yummy slices of flourless chocolate cake.
