$18 drink pkg follow up

Recommended Posts

Oh I know what he is asking. And there have been many responders that said, "Well, I don't really drink, but for such a great price..."

I don't care if they share it or not. We do drink and we both purchase a package on cruises. :classic_rolleyes: I am just annoyed. And thought that I had gotten over it. But "follow ups" just annoy me again, because it just feels like you are rubbing it in.

I wonder how many people besides those who follow cruise critic were able to take advantage of the error or even knew it was an error.

It was all over all of the FB cruising groups I am in, some RC and some not. It was also all over Instagram and Twitter.

Good question, I also am curious if anyone who got the $18/day deal has been able to call in and buy down to the refreshment pkg for a cabin mate?

Why would anyone do that? The refreshment package is more expensive than the $18/day alcohol package? Even if you don't drink any alcohol it's still cheaper.

I'm curious, now that Royal is honoring the $18 per day drink pkg, will they relax the rules and not require all passengers of age to purchase it?

Seems a no brainer if it really is "drinks on us"

Or, do they really still make a profit at that rate and the whole thing was a big scam.🤔

They barely wanted to honor the "glitch", nothing will change because of it.

That makes no sense.

Why would I “downgrade” to a lower package for $232 when the higher package was $149? If a person doesn’t drink that’s fine but why would you want to pay over $80 more for that “privilege”?

I'm a bit confused by this. Surely when purchasing the package it could only be purchased by everyone in the cabin anyway. So in that case if the OP is asking whether one person could just then choose to cancel I would doubt it as it still raises the issues about sharing, which is why the need for everyone to purchase was reintroduced.

And as far as the refreshment package goes, I'm not aware of what's included as not a soft drink drinker, but couldn't you get a good selection of soft drinks on the $18 package, or are there particular drinks which are not available on that package.

Wow that is a lot of people especially instagram and twitter. There must have been legal issues for them to commit to the price because from what I have been reading here they are not very flexible or accommodating when it comes to changes they make to an itinerary. They stick to the cruise contract.

Are cans new because we were charged for a can of coke?  I ordered it in the main dinning room by mistake.  I used the word can of diet coke when I just wanted a diet coke. I was charged $4.99.

I am totally sure that was the case as they advertise dynamic pricing - they have a hard time to proof it was a mistake! 👍 🙄

Airlines are different as they have fixed prices and only availability vavaries... 🙄

Many European cruise lines offer similar packages at about the same $18 price point per day! 👍

I’ve been on the phone and given one price and say let’s book and the price changes.  Airlines IME change prices more than the cruise lines.

Airline prices change as the flight fills up and I don't see sale advertising at a rate anywhere near the rate of cruise lines.

They do not change prices... they change availability and price buckets and even bucket - prices.... totally different system! 🙄

Well if the plane holds 300 seats they probably have 300 buckets.😁

Most have 12 to 15 buckets and about 10 fares per bucket depending on fare restrictions... 🙄

But they DO have predetermined prices and most are even regulated internationally.... they just might not be available for the flight you want... 🙄
