Like my wife said, there is nothing serene about the Serenity area on Sunshine. Personally I love the Serenity area on Spirit class ships...quiet area, pool, hot tub, large covered bar. But I agree with your last point about to each their own. I loved the Legend! I haven't been on any of the other Spirit class ships yet though.
BNBR Posted September 6, 2019 #52 Share Posted September 6, 2019 I would sail any Carnival ship if the price is right. Which means much cheaper than the competition. For similar pricing with the competition, I wouldn't sail any Carnival ship again.
CorvetteLady Posted September 6, 2019 #53 Share Posted September 6, 2019 I would not sail any of the Fantasy class ships, I like a balcony and they are way too expensive on those smaller ships. So far the only ship we would never go on again is the NCL Epic, cabin was very small and the shower and the toilet are in main area of the cabin, the sink is at the bottom of the bed. We still had a great cruise, not going to let bad cabin design ruin our cruise, we would just not do it again.
ccd228 Posted September 6, 2019 #54 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Ecstasy. The ship on multiple decks and areas smelled like sewage. It was an everyday thing. The food was not up to par. Ordered the flat iron steak medium and it comes out well done. I ordered the Surf and Turf and ordered that medium and it came out medium rare. I have never had issues getting meat cooked correctly on other ships. Room steward wouldn't get to room until 1-2 every day and night turn down between 8-9. I've never had it that late. If you go by your room to see if done they then will skip you versus knock on the door. I found that out the last night. One of the beds the springs were wore out it would just flatted down to a big hole. We told steward the 2nd night. We thought they would replace the bed. The last night we checked under mattress and he just put 2 towels underneath it. Which made it lumpy then in a weird spot. I just think the smell, the poor food service and cabin cleaning and service were poor.

mafiadon Posted September 6, 2019 #56 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Least favorite was the Vista, not because it wasn't a nice ship but I didn't not like the layout and I missed the large atrium. I would sail it again for right price and itinerary
vicky3vicky Posted September 6, 2019 #57 Share Posted September 6, 2019 There is not even one ship I have been on that I would not love to go on again. Our first cruise was on the Fantasy. It was like I had walked into a glittery, surreal, amazing fantasy land. I was hooked. So, the next cruise we planned, my husband asked me which ports and which ships I was interested in booking. I was adament about booking the Fantasy again, because I felt that the Fantasy was so magnificent [and huge] that no other ship could compare. The next cruise, I really wanted to go on the Fantasy yet again, but my husband was set on a new ship, the Elation. I was a little hesitant, but we had ordered the Elation VCR tape, with Kathy Lee dancing and singing around the ship, and she seemed to think the Elation was the best ship ever. As soon as we boarded, I agreed. And I insisted that our next cruise be on the Elation again. The same thing happened with the Conquest. Twice in a row because we loved it so much. Two times in a row on Magic, for the same reason. The Journey Cruise in November on the Breeze, will not be our second time in a row on her, it will be our fifth. Every cruise and cruise ship we have been on has far exceeded our expectations, and there is not one of them that I would not be excited about sailing on again.
geoffrywillhardt Posted September 6, 2019 #58 Share Posted September 6, 2019 I honestly am surprised by all the hate for Vista class. We sailed on the Horizon and loved it. I particularly liked the fact that we had to go somewhere other than the dining room to get our reservation for anytime dining. On the other ships everyone just lined up at he door and waited which wasn't a problem for us going in but coming out there were so many people waiting sometimes it was hard to get through, where on the Horizon everyone waited in other areas of the ship. The elevators were a mess but it was also very new for nearly everyone on board and hardly anyone understood the concept on day one. By day 8 it was less problematic. I really enjoyed the IMAX and was very disappointed to learn they were not including it on the Panorama. I agree about the skyride being a waist of time and money with how often its down. Maybe they can figure out a way to retrofit Bolt on these ships when they go to dry dock. For me the ship I will never go on again is the Sensation. It was too small, not enough balcony rooms (overpriced) and felt like it was missing some of the fun things we enjoy. It also felt very old, which I understand that its getting up there in age. They can start retiring this class of ship anytime now.

evandbob Posted September 6, 2019 #61 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Any of the Carnival's oldest ships. I've posted this over and over again, that I stopped booking the Fantasy class ships about a dozen years ago, because they were old back then. Too much over the top Farcus decor as well.
The7Harrisons Posted September 6, 2019 #62 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Vista!!! stupid layout, from front to back, atrium is ugly and boring, cinema blocks 3 floors, casino is small and people just walking the floor are forced to walk right through the middle and too many people! Also any of the new boats I do not want to be on, too big, too many people!

I LOVE LOVE this response and your attitude! There is something magical about each ship and we are the same that we enjoy sailing on the same ship more than once. We even had wrap aft balconies on Pride, Spirt, Legend and Miracle, same #8248 and it was like going home! Someone mentioned the Sensation which I would not want to sail on again, but it was really because we went with a group of people/couples who were fighting and miserable the whole time and made the cruise awful and I guess I associate that ship with that. I simply LOVED the color changing lights on the Liberty and would love to sail her again. My favorite is the spirit class like many others. I am an "atrium snob" and love sitting there and watching the action and seeing the elevators and just looking up and up and up! So I don't think I would enjoy the Vista or Horizon. There are things I like and dislike on every ship I have been on. And btw, I LOVED the lido on Sunshine where others hated it, so everyone has a different experience. We are going on Sunrise a month from today and I'm a bit nervous with all the votes for her, but I'm sure we will be okay. It's fun to exchange ideas and opinions!

purplephenom Posted September 6, 2019 #67 Share Posted September 6, 2019 I don't have a specific ship. But, I think if I hated an experience that much, I'd be done with Carnival. Mainly because in my experience, the ships are more similar than different.
Eliot Ness Posted September 6, 2019 #68 Share Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) My least favorite ship was the old Mardi Gras. By the time we sailed on her in 1991 it was in pretty bad repair and the crew, especially the CD (no better than a used car salesman), was horrible. When we got off that ship I said I'd never sail Carnival again.....well until our Big Red boat broke a rudder and we caught a last minute cabin on the Sensation. Still fairly new we had a great time and have been with Carnival ever since. Looking back I didn't realize the historical significance of the Mardi Gras and wish I could have sailed on her again knowing what I learned about her later. Other than that one cruise we've managed to have a good time on any class ship we've sailed with Carnival, although my personal favorites are the Spirit and Conquest class. I hated the buffet layout on the Sunshine and the lack of pools since they removed a pool to add that Havana bar area and for the Sunrise due to lack of public space and how the current layout is unable to accommodate all of the people onboard the ship. Lots of cramped and crowded spaces due to a insufficient design like the current photo gallery layout. it is impossible finding your picture due to the small space, a space that can not handle crowds Hub app or kiosk. Doesn't make any difference. That won't change the design flaws of the ship.

Shaded Lady Posted September 7, 2019 #73 Share Posted September 7, 2019 The only ship I wouldn't like to sail on again is the Big Red Boat... problem solved: it no longer exists! Other than that, I'd go on any cruiseship, any time, anywhere! I'm so excited that within 1-2 years I'll be moving back to Florida where I'll have 5 cruise ports within 3 hours! I love Galveston to cruise out of, but it does limit your choices...

Czecholady Posted September 7, 2019 #75 Share Posted September 7, 2019 (edited) Worst ship I ever sailed on is the Sunshine ! It was crowed with lack of open areas for guests to hang out. The comedy club was 'So Small' you had to line-up 30-45 minutes ahead of time to get into the next show. Then the room had TV's on the sides so the passengers stuck sitting there could watch on tv what was happening on stage. I could deal with all that -but - my real problem was the vibrations of the ship every day of the 8 day cruise. I could feel the ship shake all over the ship and especially the rear [aft] which is where all the dining options were. Needless to say it ruined my experience and this was cruise # 25 for me. If it had happened on my first cruise I never would have had all the great trips I've had. Edited September 7, 2019 by Czecholady
