Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted September 12, 2019 #27 Share Posted September 12, 2019 We're currently sitting in a Waikiki beachfront bar and restaurant, House without a Key, having cocktails and bar snacks. The sun has just set, behind clouds unfortunately, but it was still nice. There is a Hawaiian trio playing local music. What a great life!

I can't remember all of them but there is trivia, port lectures, movies, games like carpet bowls and bean bag throwing in the Atrium and lots more stuff. Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted September 13, 2019 #36 Share Posted September 13, 2019 It was hot but just along from the tender wharf there was a park with a huge banyan tree so we sat there with a fresh lemonade until the queue dissipated.

After disembarking Noordam in June we took a cab in from the Honolulu port to Waikiki - Parkshore hotel, end of the strip - Diamond Head end. About US$40, (with $5 tip) 😮 it is about half hour journey. You could also get a local bus from the port. Rare MicCanberra Posted September 14, 2019 #43 Share Posted September 14, 2019 We had shuttles put on when we visited, they were free. But it really wasn't too far to walk for the keen people and there was the local bus and plenty of cabs.

For day visits to Honolulu by the ships, the WalMart bus is often at the port, giving pax a free ride downtown to Walmart of course which is only a couple of blocks behind the big Ala Moana shopping mall. We did the helicopter excursion over the volcanic area. Absolutely brilliant, worth every exorbitant dollar. The helicopter was gorgeous, the volcanic area was fascinating, and we also got to see waterfalls than can only be seen from the air as they are in thick bush with no tracks in to them.
