If you're wondering, 2 separate cruises from the same port, about 9 months apart (and the exact same itinerary).  I won the poker tournament on the first cruise and, lucky me, the big tournament is on a duplicate cruise.  Also, in case you're curious, yeah, I'm still pretty pumped.

Home Departure City - Chicago O’Hare

Number of Connections - non stop

Outbound Flight departure/arrival time -7:51 am CT/ 12:02 pm ET

Return Flight departure/arrival time-

Leaves Detroit 8:10pm ET

Arrives Chicago O’Hare 8:34 pm CT

I haven’t had a chance (or remembered) to call and see if I can get an earlier flight home, and preferably non-stop. I’m leaving this Friday so I’m sure there would be a charge, but how much?  Will try to call tomorrow. It never hurts to ask!

I booked and paid in full for my cruise 45 days out. My flight arrangements popped up 2 or 3 days later. I should have called immediately but dummy me didn’t. Cest La Vie! ✈️🌞

With 1 day deviation at the start and our own booked transfer and hotel:

Number of Connections - 0

Outbound Flight departure/arrival time - 7:30pm / 9am

Return Flight departure/arrival time -  11:15am /2:30pm

Delays on both ends, but arrivals 5 to 30 minutes of target, which to me is on time

This is awesome info! Thanks to tvlworm for starting and maintaining this thread info. I have the free air booked on two upcoming cruises, first being the Getaway out of New Orleans in January. Currently I do not have a deviation to come in the day before, however after reading through these comments, am now wondering if I should rethink that. I live in Idaho and the flight will be out of Boise, no such thing as a direct nonstop flight. Both AA & DL have flights that depart BOI @ 5:30 a.m. and arriving in NO @ 1:15.  It's going to be close....… hmmmm.  Input & comments welcome.

The Bliss cruise in Feb 2021 has a one day early deviation into MIA already so good to go there.

Thank you, I’m so glad it’s helpful!

To be on the safe side for your Getaway cruise, I’d probably do a deviation for the day prior. The DL options probably connect through SLC or MSP, and both  could have winter weather impacting flights, as could Boise.  AA, if they use those options might be a bit safer as I’m guessing the connection city is DFW, but even the slightest delay on any of those could impact getting to the ship on time.

Totally agree. The hubs and I discussed and I plan to contact my PCC with NCL in the morning and have him make the deviation change to arrive to NO day before. Thanks. Have a great day!

Home Departure City - Albany, NY

Arrival/Destination City - New Orleans

Airline(s) used - American there / Delta back

Number of Connections - 1 each way

Outbound Flight departure/arrival time - 8:15am ALB - PHL arrive 9:38am

10:19am PHL - MSY arrive 12:30PM

Return Flight departure/arrival time

11:19am MSY - DTW 2:45pm

3:18pm DTW - ALB 4:58pm

Just received confirmed airfare at 59 days from travel. Called at 61 days and they changed the flights I was supposed to be on from later in the evening.  The person I talked to was super helpful.  We have the deviation to fly in a day early.  Connection times are tight but love getting into New Orleans nice and early the day before.  Original flight on the way back had us not leaving until 6:00 and getting back to Albany after midnight.  The agent said I called at the perfect time as they hadn't been officially ticketed yet.

My opinion is that if the cruise wasn't in the winter months, I might consider no deviation but in January, I would never not have my flights at minimum the day before my cruise.

I've done 42 cruises in the last 22 years and most of them in the winter months.  I learned not to think about only local forecasts for our airport as airplanes come from all other parts of the country.  A delay on the other side of the country due to bad weather might well become a delay for us in Boston.

I love to gamble but not when it comes to making it to my ship in the winter!  :classic_biggrin:
