Football viewing

Hi everyone,

We will be on the Anthem of the Seas 12/08/19 and was wondering where can we watch the Patriots game?

They have football on TV Sunday afternoon but you never know what game they are going to show.

Yeah, that one goes without saying....

 

But for other normal weekends, football will be shown, no guarantee as to which game it will be.

We watched in the pub. 

 

FYI... they are willing and able to change the channel in most bars.  We asked for and watched the 76ers in the Schooner on Grandeur a bunch of times.

Currently on the mariner and there are four games being shown on the tv in the cabin

Is it a prime time game?  If not, it's hit or miss as to whether you'll see it or not.

We cruised Harm' last Thanks' and this BIG college football weekend the pickin's for games shown on the ship (a sea day) were slim. AND adding insult to injury the sports bar closed for BINGO as major games were about to begin.  The game on the big screen outside was a minor one few wanted to watch - as proven by fact there were less than a dozen folks watching the game out there . . .

 

SO major college team fans tended to find each other and sought out corners where they had good wifi and access to outlets and crowded around laptops.  The 'Bama fans invaded a closed bar (the disco) ... there were about 30 watching one laptop!!

The game on the 8th will probably be on.  KC NE is a big draw.  The week of the 15th, I wouldn't hold your breathe, CINN NE is a nap

Much like your local broadcast they seem to get 1-2 games per time slot, selection can vary.  Friends on the Symphony 50th cruise said every game was on in Playmakers yesterday, but no word if that was an exception.  On Mariner last month I think they had 2-3 games showing so mileage tends to vary ship to ship.

RCI made a recent deal with a sat provider for more sports content, but to start, it is limited to a few ships, including Symphony.

I did read that, but was surprised as to the overall selection which was pretty impressive.  College fb last month on Mariner was essentially non-prime matchups and lots were streaming on personal devices.  I’m all for improving things.

Just got off the Symphony. They do have the CruiseSat provider on board. The casino bar had various college games on and Playmakers which has close to 20 monitors was playing all the NFL games. Funny enough though, they don't show the Monday or Thursday night games. They are closed.

As far as the Anthem goes, the best, the ONLY,  place outside of your cabin to view any games is Michael's Genuine Pub.  As far as what game they'll be showing is a complete shot in the dark. For the 4 times I've sailed the Anthem, they've always had the Sunday/Monday/Thursday night games on

I guess RCI did this because they think the extra content will bring in enough folks who will spend money there to offset the cost of the service.
