Smoking or Not

If they do ever return Cigar lounges they shouldn't allow cigarette smoking in them.  No proper cigar lounge does.

True. But I don't think there are enough cigar smokers to support a stand alone lounge.  Hence, I would include cigarettes and vaping and hookahs.

LMaxwell. I don't care as long as it is inside, and not out on the deck.

While the idea of a secure, airtight indoor smoking lounge that is well ventilated so there is no exposure of second hand smoke to non-smokers, you'll find that many of the more militant non-smokers are still against it.  They rather punish you by making you go outside in the cold to smoke.

When you ask them why they are against it, they'll just give stumble and say "well...uh....just because...."

I know, it makes no sense to me either.

On one of our previous cruises, the people 2 cabins down smoked on their balcony.  (They also fought constantly and loudly, and it sounded like threw furniture (seriously)).  After 2 days, we called and complained.  It was better after that... AND, the ship sent us a bottle of wine (Or was it champagne?) and chocolate covered strawberries to thank us.

Disagree. RC needs to eliminate all indoor smoking. Currently there is plenty of outside smoking areas. No need for additional outside smoking areas.

+1!  My DS friend!   My upcoming cruises out of Sydney...no smoking in the casino.  🙂  And for some reason they still make money in there.  😉

I'm wondering why you waited 2 days?

Celebrity doesn't allow inside smoking ,anywhere no matter where they sail from. 👍 They are still afloat and the casinos are always busy. And don't smell. I asked my Magic 8 Ball why RC doesn't follow Celebrity's lead and it' says, "reply hazy (from all the smoke), try again". 😂

No one is punishing smokers (no matter where) by not allowing indoor smoking.

Lol- Im from MN, and hate to rock the boat 🙂. I was hoping it would just magically stop, but alas, it did not 😞. Plus, when I saw there were kids there, I felt like I needed to take action.  I hope the parents don’t fight that much IRL!!!

Of course they still make money, People love to gamble.

They would make even more money if they allowed smoking.

I cruise with the OSU Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, so it's a full ship charter.  Obviously (it being a fundraiser for the James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State), no smoking of any kind is allowed anywhere inside, even in the casino (and it was SO nice!), but to accommodate those few people onboard who are still smokers, they did create a very nice smoking area at the far end of a deck (I can't remember which one, but it was very private), and there were chairs and a bar, and it was under cover.  So a nice outdoor designated area CAN be created - they just choose not to.  By the way, the casino was packed every night!

Anthem has one of the better outdoor smoking areas. It's covered, mostly shielded from the wind, comfy chairs. I believe they even had outdoor heaters for the chillier nights.

LOL!!  Perfect reply!  Kind of like when restaurants started banning smoking...they were all afraid people would not go out to eat again.  😉

Thanks for the info on Anthem!

No longer a smoker but still feel it's good to have a decent outdoor smoking area for those who smoke.

Smoking while people are eating is not pleasant & just downright rude. I think the vast majority of smokers would agree to that. They wouldn't even do that in their own homes.

I'm not a smoker and never have been. But I have family members that do so I don't like when they are treated as second class citizens by some of the SJW around.

Used to visit my Dad when he lived in Mississippi.  Could not even go into the restaurants there due to the choking smoke before the ban.  Non smoking sections were useless...too much to control.

California, as far as I know, was the first to ban smoking in restaurants.  Was pretty funny just after the ban, we walked in to ask for the "non-smoking section" as usual.  They looked at us funny, and then "duh" I remembered the ban.  😉

Our last cruise was on Celebrity and it was our first balcony.  I went out to check it out and smelled smoke.  I have asthma so in additional to paying more for a balcony, I was not going to breathe smoke all week.  I loudly exclaimed - "There is someone smoking nearby, honey.  And when I figure out where the smoke is coming from, I am going to call security."  End of problem  did not smell a whiff the rest of the cruise.  Balcony #2 coming up on Symphony in May!

I remember those days.  The non-smoking sections were a joke.  The tables would be less than 2 feet away from the smoking tables.  Even my 2+ pack-a-day parents wouldn't light up even though they were allowed at the time. They couldn't understand how someone couldn't wait to finish their meal before lighting up.

Perfect. RC going above others for the smokers on that ship or class of ship. IMO most smokers don't want to be around non smokers. Speaking from personal experience.

For my own curiosity and since we are on a cruise forum, please provide your source showing what cruise lines are losing money due to having smoke free casinos on their ships. Has there been revenue lost by the cruise lines not allowing inside smoking at the bars?  I have no reason to doubt you, but...
