Our Medallions shipped today for our 12/10 embarkation.  We previously had green circles on all six Ocean Ready tasks.  I noticed the Travel Documents circle now has an orange exclamation mark.  When I go into it I see all our passport information as well as a check mark on the bottom.  The only thing I notice is a message on the top reminding us to bring our travel documents to the port.  I wonder if they added this because some people did not bring their passport figuring it was already in the app?  Has anyone else noticed this?

I can't get rid of the orange thing. May husband doesn't have one, just me.

Thank you  again for your help. I missed that notation about Grand not being ready until end of March. I'll try again then.

You may want to try doing it starting in early March.  March 29 will be Grand's first MedallionClass sailing so the PAX on that sailing will need to get Ocean Ready at least 3 weeks before that sailing if they want their medallions shipped to them.

This is ridiculous.  In trying to get rid of the orange exclamation alert, I've locked myself out of my account with a message to call Medallion.   Been on hold for 40 minutes.  Really ?  I think this Medallion should be renamed the "Boondoggle".  So is the "ocean ready" account (password, etc) the same as your princess account?  Do we really need another account/password to keep track of?

I'm relatively computer savvy, but this thing is a hot mess.

Agreed, the Medallion and Compass apps are a mess when compared to what they could be. They are confusing to use and one must have a good amount of patience during multiple tries. They are erratic at times and are not intuitively designed.

Both apps need to be combined and the organization of setting up and using need to be clearly defined and separated from each other. Most reviews are at the low end of the scale.

There are normally more negative reviews than positive because folks like to find fault rather than taking the time to acknowledge what is working well.

We have been on multiple Medallion voyages including the first soft roll out on the Regal Princess.  In all our 6 voyages with the Medallion we had no issues with it.  The apps worked well on all the Mac platforms whether it be a MacBook Air or Pro, iPad or iPhone.  It may not be entirely intuitive the first time unless time was spend actually looking at the various tutorials provided by Princess to help lead through the set up.

Agreeably, the whole capability of the Medallion is beyond the needs of a lot of passengers which should not provide a negative.  For the rest of the folks there is a lot of really neat features, with more to come, that make having the Medallion on the voyage a even greater experience.

Well said!

We were on the Regal last month for one week and I had no problem with it. I was Ocean Ready and our boarding was the quickest ever. The DW and I do our own thing and the use of the Medallion made it easy to locate each other. She is not so much Ocean Ready just getting over getting rid of her flip phone for an IPhone.

This thread is almost as amusing as the one with the barrel chairs.

Reminds me of years ago when the NYC subway got rid of tokens and went to the Metro Card.

Lots of complaints over the use of cards and now the cards are slowly being discontinued and you'll have to use a smartphone or a credit card. I'm sure there will be similar complaints. Some of them no doubt from some of the CC members here?

I don't live in Florida but I finally got a Sun Pass as for some reason Florida does not accept EZ Pass like most other states.

People need to get with the program and accept the future changes.

To those that do not care for a Medallion just request a cruise card. That is until they phase those out in a few years or charge extra for them.

What about those who do not have one of those phones??

I have a similar-but-not-matching question. Hubby has flip phone and I've set both of us up in my smart phone. Process seemed to go well. (We shall see. The things should arrive by Jan. 18 according to the app.)

Hubby has a Samsung tablet. Will he be able to take advantage of Journey View, Shipmates, etc., on his tablet? Are these features via inTERnet or  ship's inTRAnet?

I thought they were combined now and you only use the Medallion Class app. I could be wrong though.

Due to the changes in the process and what Apps did/do what, I think Princess should put out a clear step by step process of what people need to do. They should also try and reassure people that are not technically minded that they do not need to worry if they do not get Ocean Ready before their cruise.

For what it's worth I quite like the Medallion but I didn't use it for ordering drinks, casino games, or tracking friends. I set it up before our first Medallion cruise without too much trouble but for our next cruise it is showing I need to complete the Personaliser info which I have done. It's glitches like this that cause unnecessary concern and just add to people's confusion.

You place your device on airplane mode and then connect to the ship's inTRAnet.

I was merely giving my opinion as a first time user setting up the App which was somewhat glitchy and not as user friendly as it could/should be . Will put it to use on upcoming cruise.

Most seem to think it will work okay.

I also use a Samsung tablet and after boarding go to login.com and set up access which is through the InTRAnet. All you need is your Cabin number and date of birth. This gives access to the ship activities, your room account, and has a button to connect to the Internet. This gives me all I want and takes a minute to set up using the instruction sheet left in your cabin.

However I'm not sure you can use this to track shipmates and you may need to also download Medallion Class app to his tablet to get this feature. I'm sure someone will know the answer but why the two are not combined I don't know! I use my phone to set up Medallion Class/Ocean Ready then don't use it again as I'd rather use the larger tablet screen to view activities, room account etc.

That was a pretty wimpy answer.  :classic_biggrin:

This may have been answered earlier but did not want to go through 12 pages. Since you don't have a card to put in the slot machines how do you get credit for your play?

You present your Medallion to the reader, then put in your date of birth and a 4 digit pin. Then proceed to lose your money.

Your very own Faraday cage. I like it!!

I'm thinking it'll work.  I'll check back in after I try it later this month.  It may be easier to just request a cruise card.

The whole thing seems like whiz bang techno program for the sake of techno.  Now that Princess has invested millions in the Medallion, I'm wondering if anyone is doing a cost-benefit analysis from the cruise line's standpoint, or is it another case of "The Emporer's New Clothes"?

It sounds like Microsoft. They continue to "upgrade" their apps, etc., roll out the upgrade, and the new version is slower and more labor intensive than the earlier version.  (Fie! on the evil ribbon.)  Seems they do this to keep people employed -- just "for the sake of techno".  They need to understand, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

The last years of my career was in tech, and if I had gone live with anything with one bug, much less hundreds like Medallion has, I'd have been asking "Do you want fries with that?" 50 times a day starting the next week.  At least Medallion isn't a life-or-death issue so we can just go with the flow, and it's no big deal.  🙂

When you asked that questions the response may very well have been "Of course, I included that when I posted my order on your app!"  :classic_biggrin:

That's funny!  And it shows how old I am. I've never ordered anything on a device's app.

I am the techy in our family & that isn't saying much. I downloaded the medallion app to my phone only for our last cruise & managed everything for DH & myself.

How were you able to manage everything for DH from your phone?  My sister downloaded the app to her phone and she was able to upload  her information.  I want my sister to be able to manage everything for me from her phone because I am definitely NOT a techie.  But she didn't see any way that she could upload my info thru the app on her phone.  We'll be on the same account btw.

How were you able to set both yourself and your husband up on one phone?  My sister tried to put my info on her phone and wasn't able to do it. We will be on the same account btw.
