pkhilberling Posted December 1, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Looking at Princess 28 day cruise next year , can anyone say which month is the best for the sea portion . Not wanting sea days of rough waters or bad weather . Any help would be appreciated.
crystalspin Posted December 1, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Without knowing which months are under consideration, I can still suggest weatherspark.com put in a few of your ports and be sure to have clicked the Whole Year view for comparison. You can also narrow it to one month at a time but more keystrokes and views. It won't of course have historical sea conditions, but rain/humidity/etc of the islands may give you some direction. deepcman Posted December 1, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Your selection is either April or October. Days are longer in April and less chance of typhoons. I selected April but you could just flip a coin.
jollyjones Posted December 1, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2019 I've done the Princess 28 day one in October, that October the weather was wonderful. But one cannot say it will be in a different year. Pick whichever cruise suits your timing and hope for the best, it's not realistically predictable. CruiserBruce Posted December 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Seas can be rough anytime, anywhere. They are not predictable more than a few days in advance. If you have a problem with sea sickness, you must be prepared everyday you are on a ship. Trying to out guess Mother Nature is a challenging proposition. paul929207 Posted December 1, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2019 We have done the 28 day South Pacific cruise 3 times all in October. No problem with storms. We the large number of sea days, it is usually easy to avoid any storms that may arise. We will do this again in October 2020
skynight Posted December 1, 2019 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2019 I would select October 2020 on the Emerald. A better ship for this itinerary with more lounges and public space than the Island. Pacific can be calm or choppy at anytime. Be prepared for direct sun and lots of sea days, 8 straight at the end. We did this voyage and enjoyed it. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 2, 2019 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2019 As usual, CruiserBruce has given you excellent advice. I have sailed this route many times over the years over several different months and even year over year on the same month the experience is different. You just never know and these days history means nothing as variances to traditional weather patterns are become the norm. If rough seas are a concern my recommendation is to select a room mid ship and on a deck that is on a mid-deck and come prepared with items to prevent sea sickness. I wish it was as simple as picking the months where there will be no issue but that is anyones guess. Keith
