I was told I was in Phase 1 but still haven't been processed.

I was told by the “post cruise specialist” that we were not in Phase 1 because there were still passengers on the Coral until April 10th and she didn’t know what phase we were in!
Just how many phases are there?

Maybe I have been moved also. Though my situation is different than yours. I hope next week is your week!

At least you got your FCCs.

Yes, and when looking forward to booking another cruise, I was told the FCC could be used for everything including port fees and taxes, where in the past it was only to be used for cruise fare. That was checked 2 different times with 2 different Princess reps, but I have thought one thing at one time only to find that it is not in fact true.

That's very interesting, and I'd love to get more feedback/confirmations on this. We have tons of FCC from our cancelled April trip, and are toying with using some of it to book the Enchanted this November. Does this statement mean that we could use some of our FCCs to pay for the deposit, IOW could we book a new trip with NO cash changing hands?

I was only allowed to use my FCC for cruise fare. Deposit had to be by cc or FCD. However, things change by the minute with this cruiseline. Princess website has a Q &A re; FCC

I think they said Pause 1 can not use their FCC as a deposit but Pause 2 and 3 can.

So, what I was told was it could NOT be used for anything that I would use an obc for...excursions, gambling, etc. Everything was ok, cruise fee, port taxes and fees. I am not certain on deposit.

I really was not in Pause 1 either, and not eligible for Option 1 or 2 like my TA was first told I qualified for,  Since my cancellation was by me March 6 th. As a compassionate gesture I could cancel without penalty for a 100 percent FCC. Which I did. And my refund was simple without extra FCC or cash refund.

When you go to rebook, come back and let us know what happens

I cancelled March 6th and was told I was eligible for Option 1 or 2 and included in Pause 1 (multiple times by Princess) . Your cruise was immediate though and mine was not.

Now I have to respond to the cc company and supply a bunch of information.  Any advice?

I made a spreadsheet that showed each payment to Princess by that credit card, with date of payment, and what it was for (deposit, excursion, final payment).

Then I made a list from the Princess invoices I had showing how the funds were applied (fare, taxes, air, transfers, excursions, etc).  I made two columns, one for cash refund due and FCC amount due.

I included copies of the Princess documents relevant to the funds (invoices showing dates and amounts received, air booking confirmation, cancellation confirmation and copies of Princess policy pages showing penalty fees and dates)

Question:  We charged our trip on a credit card which has been replaced due to a credit card breach.  What are the chances of our ever seeing the princess refund which will be to our old/cancelled credit card?

My hope is that Citi's system is smart enough to know that a credit to a cancelled card should be applied to the replacement card...

That should not be a problem unless you completely switched banks with your credit card.  For example, there is a big box store that used to accept American Express and a few years back, they switched to Visa.  The American Express card, on which I had paid for a cruise, was discontinued.   When I had to cancel, there was nowhere to refund the money.  It was fixed but not without quite a bit of hassle and that was during normal times.

If you simply had to get a card replacement because of a data breach but, used the same bank, there should be absolutely no problem.  They have an account for you which has your old and new card numbers on file.  It should all transfer over to that account.

That FAQ document shared yesterday by @ceilidh1 clearly indicates that you were in Pause 1.  You had a cruise cancelled by Princess within the pause period and you cancelled within the parameters listed on that document.  We cancelled on March 10th which means we were barely included in Pause 1.  It may not matter much since you have filed a credit card dispute but you are entitled to a full refund by default.

Thank you!  I missed that document. All the other previous documents barely mentions Option 2 for those who cancelled from February 4- March 10.

This will definitely help if I have to provide info to Citicard and Chase.

Though - if you had waited 2 more days, you would also be in Pause 1.... Confusing. I wonder if those who cancelled on March 11 should also be included. Weird.

They have a step by step manual to refer to, so it really shouldn't be that difficult! I think the issue is that the people on the phones (maybe even customer relations) are not referring to the written policy and just going by what they "think" is right. The fact they are STILL telling people they are processing by departure date when it has already been stated this isn't the case is proof of it. I will try to attach the FAQs for pause 1 - they may be useful for someone!

Thanks for sharing the Q&A.  This will be useful to share with the credit card company if they have questions.  The middle column refers to the temporary cruise with confidence policy.  Does this still apply since they announced the Option 1 or 2 program?

That was the original deal but they should be reprocessing your refund based on your option 1 or 2 election.  We received a partial refund right after we cancelled our May 9th cruise on March 10th (two days before Princess cancelled it).  Then on May 5th we got the email from Princess that went to those who cancelled pause 1 cruises before Princess pulled the plug on them.  Did you get that email?

No we did not get the email. The cruise we cancelled was to start on March 10 ie before the pause. I think it is only the March 5 cancellation policy that applies (ie 100% FCC for cancellation fee).

Interesting - according to the info they sent about pause 1 cancellations, if you had flexible EZ Air it would be refunded back to original form of payment. I have had nothing in terms of FCC or refund (and I do have EZ Air) so can't say for sure what they are doing. I also cancelled before Princess under the March 5th policy.

I think our situation may be different because the cruise we cancelled started on March 10 ie before the pause.

That is what we just did. We booked a cruise for October 2021 with no cash changing hands.  I booked it on-line on the Princess web site and it automatically applied our FCCs from this year's cancelled cruise. Then we elected to use one of our $100 FCD as an additional deposit (I don't remember if we even had to do that but I wanted the OBC associated with the FCD).  We only have a very small balance (a few hundred $) to pay by July 2021.

Then I do need to call, as my FCC consisted only of my cruise fare.  I too cancelled a couple of days prior to the mass cancellations.  Glad to hear you got your reimbursement!  I'm even more concerned since the FCC came a few days ago and nothing else has shown up.😟

The cruise we cancelled was on March 10 so before pause 1. So they may be doing something different for Pauses 1, 2 etc.

Sorry!  Didn't figure that there would have been cruises cancelled on March 5th for a cruise before the pause.  At least they have acted on your cancellation.

I thought that was odd that March 11th was left out too.  I would hope that is a typo and folks who cancelled on that date didn't default to the terms announced on March 6th.  That wouldn't make sense but then there are several things that haven't made sense during this whole process.

Hi all just posting too say I got my Refund 😁 I’m at 70 day mark from cancellation. Sail date would have been 4 April on the new Sky. It was actually put back on 2 different cards, no FCC posted as of yet but very relieved to have my money back. Good luck to everyone still waiting, hang in there

Received FCC about a month ago, got an email from Jan Swartz 3 days ago stating that we should be receiving an email as soon as it's available. It was nice of her to let us know it was there, but it's been there. She was thanking us for our interest in future sailing. However, we still haven't received refund on cc for taxes and port fees, etc. You would think they would have done both at the same time. We are questioning our decision to take the 175% FCC vs full refund and 50% cruise credit and are considering changing our minds.

Our desire is to cruise again. We understand that the cruise ship is an incubator for disease, but so is the supermarket, movie theater, airplane, amusement part, resorts, hotels, water parks, beaches, restaurants, etc. We are really looking forward and are hopeful that we can return to "regular life" safely soon.

Our hope is that we get the refund on cc soon and can think about going forward from there.

unclear: what did you receive so far?

can you change from option 1 to option 2 after receiving refund?

let us know end result
