A very unusual sight. Not often that we see a cruise ship so close, let alone three of them. They are classed as being at Port Kembla anchorage. Thirroul is a northern suburb of Wollongong. We’ll keep an eye out for more cruise ships and will keep you posted. They could be a tourist attraction in the Illawarra. 'Go see the cruise ships going nowhere.' Ondine Posted March 23, 2020 #69 Share Posted March 23, 2020 Just posted by the captain of the Amsterdam on his blog. We are are now loading some fresh provisions and will depart Fremantle in 4 hours. Destination? Durban, South Africa for fuel and thence to Fort Lauderdale, a 35-day voyage. A strange way to finish, after 50+ years at sea, during which time I have experienced many challenges and incidents and one thing is for sure, I will never forget this one.

Kiwi Kruzer or Kiwi_cruiser Could you please follow Captain Jonathan and Amsterdam, returning home via South Africa to Fort Lauderdale, US? I love Captain Jonathan's blog which gives a unique behind the scenes view of the work of a cruise captain. This was to be his last cruise before his well earned retirement. As he says, one he will never forget.
