has anyone done a ship's stop in Kotor?  There is a cruise on Celebrity that does roundtrip from Rome to Kotor, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Zakynthos, and Naples.  It's on the Beyond.  Looks like that ship is going to alternate between that cruise and one that does Turkey and a few more stops in Greece, but that one is $1000 more.

The first of my BTB cruises stopped in Kotor.  Weirdly, a cruise I took 6-7 years ago on Aegean Odyssey did the Kotor Bay cruise, but did not stop at Kotor, just turned around at the end of the fjord and cruised back out.

The cruise in is very scenic as is the entire area around the bay due to extremely beautiful clear water, rugged coves and the mountains behind. I chose to do a ship excursion that got me a ways out of the main city of Kotor and around the bay to visit some traditional small towns, a monastery and another old city, Herceg Novi.  We had the full day at Kotor, so there was also enough time to see a bit of the old town of Kotor after returning (it's right next to the port).

Truthfully, while pretty the stop didn't strike me as anything special. I like places with a bit (or a lot) of history behind them.  This was "pretty country" for sure, but just not much for me to sink my teeth into.  If it is a thousand more than the other itinerary, and the other one covers some of Turkey, I'd probably pick the other one.

That said, my stop to Montenegro made my 100th country visited, lol.

Edited to add:  Oops, my bad. I misread your post. $1,000 is a lot more for those ports, though I'd probably prefer them.

Zakynthos is more or less a beach stop. Corfu and Dubrovnik are great stops if not too many ships in port to make them crammed full. And you know Naples and Rome.

The only reason i thought about this cruise was that the single room intrigued me, and the price wasn't all that bad.  i can't  pull the trigger, though.  Something in my gut says 'not right now'.   I'll keep thinkin about it, though.  I will say adding montenegro to my country list is intriguing, though.

I worke up at 4am and never got back to sleep.  Turns out my one niece and her friend were the same.  Weird.  i had to take my car into the shop to get the Winter tires done first thing in the morning, so i couldn't even sleep in if I got back to sleep.  Went to the nearby coffee shop and got a cafe latte and a breakfast sandwich.  Walked the mile back home to wait to hear when my car is ready (probably not until late this afternoon).  So, i'm hanging on the sofa, deciding whether or not to nap.

OOTD:  my woolx leggings, a long sleeve T and my red Patagonia jacket.  A Buff to keep my unruly hair out of my face.  my tiedye Merrell boots, since i was walking home and there is snow on the roads/sidewalks.  it was lightly snowing on the way home.  But i was nice and comfy, even had my jacket unzipped until it was snowing a tad harder and i didn't want the Tshirt to get wet.  When the shop calls, i'll walk back down and pick up the car.

Never heard of silicone on shovels.  What brand did you use, if it worked???

I guess I have to get serious about buying those new winter tires now...

My landscaper SIL sprayed them,I’ll find out brand if it works for me. It’s supposed to help heavy snow slide off shovel easier

Sitting in the Amsterdam airport waiting for our our flight home.  After reading horror stories about getting through security and passport control, it really was not too bad. We waited longer in a line to check in than the other two.

Cruise was great, I loved the ports, the castles, etc.  We had lovely fall weather, cool but sunny most days.  It is cold and rainy here in Amsterdam so I am really happy we chose not to stay an extra day, especially since that is the forecast for most of the week.

Will be really happy to get home tonight!

Good morning, losing daylight savings time always makes me tired the next morning. I feel so BLAAAA this morning...I think I may take a nap......anyone else?

LOL, Lois, I am the opposite. In the fall "turnback" I always feel like I "gained" an extra hour of sleep (which is generally true) so I feel more awake in the mornings -- at least until I get accustomed to the time change. Then again, I am not a natural morning person.

However, on the minus side I hate that it gets dark at night so early....

Your way of thinking is correct (I think it must be me)..... when you gain the extra hour, you would think I would be ok......oh well. I agree with you about the afternoons though.......100%. It gets dark out so early.  To be honest,  I wish it was daylight savings time all year round.

Safe trip home Sherri!  Did you at least to spend that extra airport time in a lounge?  Waiting patienty to hear about the cruise!  And, any food porn that you found 😸

I slid right into DST today.  I'm like Cynthia - going back to standard time in the Spring ruins me for days.  I just have to be sure that the boss does not schedule me for the 8am opening that week!!!

Winter tires are on.  Picked it up at 4:30pm.  I didn't walk down, but took one of our little free micro shuttles.  I live inbetween 2 bus routes, so the transportation department has a fleet of Sienas that we can ask for like Uber.  It's pretty cool.  depending on the day/weather, you can wait any time from 5 to 30 minutes, just like Uber/Lyft.

I was going to the market after I got the car, but I saw the Fish Truck in the parking lot at the market.  Went there and got fish & chips and went home to eat and nap (I was soooo tired after not sleeping).  I'll hit the market today. Gosh, I wish we had more food trucks around!  This is the only one and he shows up once a month.  I have to drive 30 minutes down to Heber (the next little town over from us) where food trucks park around City Hall.

No stanley tonight - I'm going to go into withdrawal.

OOTD:  camo joggers and a Tshirt.  I'll throw on a fleece when I go to the market - still in the mid-30s today and cloudy.

Made it home Monday night about 7 but we’re still on Amsterdam time so it felt like one am.  Still working to get back on EST.

Cynthia, glad you enjoyed your trip and are feeling better.  Lots of people, including me, coughing on our cruise and on plane.  Lots of viruses going around!

Melissa, congrats on finishing 3rd treatment!   I hope you get your veranda cabin for July cruise!

Unfortunately Kat, we do not have access to any airline lounge so we get to hangout with the tired, uncomfortable masses.😂.  I have no food porn, while I enjoy looking at others pictures, I never think to take any of my own.  We did have some great goulash in Budapest and Austria along with some really good meals in Germany.  Food on the ship was good but nothing that made me say wow, although the breads were amazing!

Lois, glad you are back and had a wonderful cruise!  Isn’t  Quebec City lovely?

I am supposed to have a check up on Monday with labs but I am calling today to change it.  After all the food and wine I have had for 2 weeks I do not want to see the numbers and I do not want to step on a scale!

Getting my to go bag ready today in case we have to evacuate for Nicole!

Sherri🙂

Just got back from voting. There were no lines, but there was a huge push for early voting in my county.  The "I voted" sticker was rather ominously amended with new text that says "I secured my vote!"  Not sure what that signifies...

Old sticker:

New stickers:

Anyway, we have beautiful, warm weather here today but I'm hearing ugly predictions about rain to come later in the week from Nicole.

Sherri - so sorry about the nasty "surprise" that awaits you, right after you got back from a nice, relaxing vacation.  My friend with her house in Cocoa Beach was posting some weather charts this morning about Nicole.  The Space Coast can't win this year!

Hello All,  well looks like I’m once again late to the party! Sounds like Lois and Sherri really enjoyed their cruises. Looks like both are in Nicole’s path. Seems late in the season for a tropical storm. Hope both of you stay safe.

Melissa, good to hear that you are now on the downward slope with your treatment. Kinda crazy that you mentioned summer while all of us are heading into winter. On a cruise a few years ago, a couple from Australia had the cabin next to us. While we were out on our balconies we chatted about Christmas during the summer vs during the winter…interesting.

So yesterday (and today) we got a fair amount of rain and snow in the mountains -yay! However, while Kat’s tires were being installed, we were calling AAA to jump start our car’s battery so we could purchase a new one and yes it was raining!

Cynthia, I’ve never seen voting sticker like those. We dropped our ballots in one of our county’s drop boxes so no stickers for us. Hoping that Nicole passes you by.

Melody, here’s hoping that you and DH won’t need to use that silicone treated shovel all that often this winter.

BTW, Sherri, how is the kitchen coming along?

Watching election coverage as I type this. Coverage can really get intense depending on which station I watch.

OOTD or rather night, comfy and warm sweats.

FL ladies:  kind of 2 "sorry" comments from me - one from what happened Tuesday (ugh) and the second for Nicole.  Some people posted video from Cocoa Beach - the foamy waves were running up into the dunes.  Hope you got your "tropical storm" snacks and beverages ready for today!  Be safe!

Cynthia - at least your sticker has color.  And, my sympathies for yesterday to you, too.  My sticker is a rather bland red with a Utah outline as the "O" in "I Voted".  I asked the poll worker by the ballot box why there were no blue stickers - he just smiled with a knowing nod 😉.  I could not bear to watch anything last night that would have any politics, so I just watched the Below Deck Marathon. Bummed this morning to see that nothing changed here in UT, despite our best efforts. The only non-red spots were the same - Park City, Salt Lake City, and the reservations to the east.  Sigh.

Made white chicken chili last night.  Forgot how much I like it.  I always have the ingredients in the pantry, except for the chicken.  I actually remembered to buy some at the market!  And, I've got leftovers for tonight.   If it stops snowing this week (snowing that thick cr@p again today), it'll be time for the traditional TJ's Thanksgiving run.

OOTD:  joggers and a Tshirt.  When I go out to shovel, I'll put on boots and a shell jacket.

Hi girls, Kat I haven't ever made chicken chili. Maybe I should give it a try.

Got my flu shot yesterday. Now I have to get my 2nd shingles shot sometime later this month. Had my first one back in Sept and the pharmacist said I needed to wait at least 2 months for the 2nd one.

As for the weather, it is windy here today but no rain here by me.

Anyway, Sharon, good to see you again😀

Latest info on Nicole has her making landfall about 50 miles south of us and, being on a barrier island, we decided this morning to evacuate up to Jacksonville which is just expecting a lot of rain tomorrow (I hope!).  So we are camped out at a Holiday Inn Express on the southwest side of I 95.  Hopefully, we can go back tomorrow night.

Sharon, how is the kitchen going you ask?  They still have to finish the trim, replace baseboard that was damaged during demolition, finish  wall tiling and install my dishwasher.  I told the construction supervisor yesterday that it needs to be done before Thanksgiving and he assured me it would.  But of course, no one is working for the next few days due to Nicole.

Kat, white chicken chili is one of my favorite rainy day/cold weather dishes!  Election was disappointing here in Florida but not unexpected.

Good day here in Jacksonville for a nap!

Sherri🙂

I have to wait on more month to get my 2nd shingles shot.  Beware - my pharmacist told me it's the 2nd shot that makes people sick and to just be prepared.

The chicken chili is sooo easy to make, don't even have a recipe.   A box of chicken broth, 2 cans white beans (I use cannellini ),  a can of sweet corn, a can of diced green chiles (mild or medium, your choice), a chopped up onion and the amount of shredded chicken you want and whatever spices you usually put in your chili or soups (I use ground cumin and coriander, some oregano, pepper).  sautè up the onion, add the chiles and spices,  then dump in the beans & corn and then the broth.  No set time to cook it all, but usually I do about 30 minutes.  When I put it in my bowl, I add some sour cream.   Great for a gray, snowy day!!

Sherri - have fun in JAX.  The beach in Satellite Beach is getting pounded.  The unlucky combination of the moon, high tides, tropical storm and that SB voted against beach restoration last year made it nasty.  My friend in Cocoa Beach told me about the beach vote - I guess CB voted for their beach restoration,

Hi girls, Sherri, we are supposed to have rain and winds tomorrow. Drive safely.

Kat, I spoke to my Pharmasict about the 2nd shot and she said everyone reacts differently so hopefully I won't have a negative reaction.

Sigh. I got nothing. The head spins at the thought of a run-off for our Senate seat, given the inequalities between the candidates. Can't take any more of these dirt-dishing ads. Makes me want to just get on a ship and stay there until after Dec. 8.

Good morning........it looks like high tide is coming this way around 9:30 and St Augustine Beach is already getting POUNDED😮I am looking outside and the trees are blowing at a good clip. Hopefully Nicole won't be too bad around here. (Although the beaches are always in the track)............

Cynthia, seems GA is the Epicenter for the last 2 cycles, although Nevada and Arizona are still counting too.

We were miserable after our 2nd shingles shot, just don’t plan anything big for a couple of days after the shot, curl up with Netflix & a cup of tea
