Well, we have had an eventful morning..

Had to call an ambulance for Michelle as she was being sick, couldn't breathe and passed out...

Tried 111 for advice first but after ten minutes of Covid instructions and we are busy, call back later messages, gave up and called 999...

Paramedics arrived just as I finished the call, how is that for service...

She didn't want to go to hospital so the doctor reluctantly agreed she could stay home after prescribing different anti sickness medicine, as long as I stayed with her and monitored her breathing.

She is settled now, snoring loudly😴

Hats off to the ambulance service and doctors/pharmacy for acting so quickly, just a shame 111 is clogged up with what should be common sense messages..

Andy

I've just seen your post Andy. I hope Michelle is much better now after her sleep.

New guidance issued on FRIDAY

http://Covid: Eight Covid areas should avoid indoor gatherings https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-57232728

People in certain areas where the Indian variant is spreading (such as Bolton, Blackburn, Hounslow, Leicester and Kirklees) have been told not to travel out of their area unless for essential reasons.

Firstly, it’s astonishing that the government issued the advice and didn’t tell anyone, not even the local councils.

Secondly, are people going to comply? Or are they going to think it’s ‘scaremongering’ , ‘it doesn’t apply to me’ or ‘I’m going on holiday anyway’. Can’t help thinking it’ll be the latter.

Andy - I hope today is much much better than yesterday.  Best wishes to you and Michelle

There are a few on the forum who live in the areas Dermotsgirl mentions above, aren’t there?  The lack of publicity seems grossly negligent, but what do I know?

Another day of sun and downpours, sometimes simultaneously, beckons.  Oh joy 🙄

Have a good, quiet, undramatic day, everyone

Pete, I was reading  elsewhere that Eastern will be operating 11 services a week to Southampton from the end of July. Could that be of use to you?

Thanks for the suggestion. This is the trouble with being furloughed, I'm not kept up to date with changes in schedules. I think I did look at these and the times of the return flights aren't that convenient, but I'll check again.

The councils weren't told and they should have been but really does it need telling? If you live in an area with high levels of COVID it should just be second nature now to modify your behaviour to step 2 type levels.

The government don't want to impose local restrictions again but people need to be sensible and if their area is at pandemic levels again then they need to act accordingly.

I did a quick check, and I think the flights tend to be late afternoon. OK for flying down the day before the cruise, but not great when you return.

If people had been sensible in the first place we wouldn't be in this position now. We live in Kirklees and our area has low levels, as we live in a village, however we are lumped in with Kirklees.

We are just down the road from you, although outside the area. As you say rural areas are being tagged, when we all know it is the populated areas like Dewsbury where there are problems, and we all know why.

Yes and to rub salt into the wound we are reminded every day on the local news.

Yes, that's what I remembered when I checked again.

The government don't want to impose local restrictions again but people need to be sensible and if their area is at pandemic levels again then they need to act accordingly.

But the issue is that people will not modify their behaviour. A lot of the cases (due to the high level of vaccination in the older cohorts) are now in the younger generation. They were fed the information that they are not as susceptible to having a bad case of the disease, only mild symptoms, despite being able to transmit it to others.

So, they

a) are unwilling to take a test (I can vouch for that),

b) unwilling to isolate even if they do get a positive result due to their need to provide for their family c) unwilling to curtail their behaviour i.e. mixing with others as they may only experience a mild form of the illness

d) only want to get the vaccine which will take time to have any effect

Today we were all expected to work overtime (we are now on our 4 day off deployment) but I can't as I have mandatory training for the next 3 days for my 'normal' job. They have several mobile units in 1 place near Manchester (some even coming from the Liverpool regional testing unit), but 1 colleague who has elected to work overtime has reported that it is very quiet and people are not coming forward for testing.

Good morning everyone I hope you are all ok today:classic_smile:

I'm just catching up on the posts from yesterday and was shocked to read about

Andy's Michelle and hope she feels a lot better today bless her.

Graham's eye op was a success and now could have the other one done is good news

as well. As for my appointment yesterday, the good news is they managed to do all

the  procedures I went to have done but not without issue. Step one of the plan was to

do a "Stress test" on the heart, this is where they put a drug into you that expands

everything in your blood vessels etc so when they put a dye into you they can see what's

working and what isn't ,when they put me through the MRI  Scanner .They explain to you

that you will get a shortness of breath amongst other things for a minute but it will soon

pass. For me it did not go to plan I got the feeling they explained but also with my heart

rate allover the shop ,one second in the twenty's the next into the hundreds ,with the

hearts conductivity dropping . I was not in a good state but they sent for a cardio

specialist who came and pumped two more drugs into me which stabilised things.

The scan went ahead as I said I will be ok and afterwards the same doctor came and

checked me over and put me back on the heart monitor for a while. They pondered if

🎶 Should I stay or should I go  :classic_unsure: 🎶  but let me go home. I was in bed for 7pm as I

felt exhausted and drained and the good news is I had the loveable nurse Mrs Kalos

to look after me :classic_love: Today will be a very steady day for me ..onwards and upwards.

You all take care and remember to stay safe guys :classic_love:

Unfortunately some folk Live in denial. I check the figure for our local area pretty much every day. I said some time ago, we won't be going to Bolton for our holiday. If Folk from those areas didn't know, it's not anyone's fault but their own.

So sorry to hear this Kalos.  It must have been a very disturbing, if not frightening, experience.  I do hope you're feeling ok today - exhausted I would imagine.  Thank goodness the cardio specialist was only on another floor!  Glad you have Mrs Nurse Kalos to look after you.  Keep well and positive and rest rest rest today.  Best wishes to you both. Hi Kalos, sorry to hear it didn’t go to plan yesterday, hope you are feeling ok now. I had that heart stress test and scan done about six weeks ago, luckily everything was ok. It’s a strange feeling though when your heart starts racing when you are only sat in a chair.

Take care

Michelle

Oh Kalos I’m so sorry that it didn’t go well yesterday, that must have been worrying.
Be a good patient and let Mrs K take care of you today x

Emergency Ward 10 here today! (That dates me - anybody remember it, on B&W TV?)

Put it down to experience kalos - hopefully it’s given your care team a load of valuable data.  Take it easy today and come back fighting tomorrow.  We might even manage a drop of sunshine for you.
Here’s a bit of hopeful blue sky from this morning.  We mis-timed our walk, so arrived at the pub 5 minutes before it opened.  When was the last time you were outside a pub waiting for it to open? 😀 We only had a tea and a coffee though.  11 am is way too early for beer outside when it’s this cold 🥶
