lincslady Posted January 1 #53976 Share Posted January 1 I just want to echo Purdey's post here, and also Jane's. Exactly what I would say too. Thank you for support to me, and so pleased that Frank is getting better. That is a good start to our year, may it continue for us all.
Josy1953 Posted January 1 #53977 Share Posted January 1 Happy new year everyone. I am hoping for a much better year than 2023. I was up at 4:50 this morning so the Christmas tree is down and everything is boxed up ready to go into the loft when DH decides to get up. I like to see the tree when it is all lit up in the evenings but I hate the job of putting up, decorating it and then taking it down. My sister asked me last night how I had managed to leave it up for over a week because I am "the Queen of no clutter". 12

Splice the mainbrace Posted January 1 #53982 Share Posted January 1 Happy new year everyone. Nice bright calm start here and 5c. Quiet night in last night watching films and then the midnight London fireworks, then FaceTimed our sons in Southampton and Sydney (Oz) to greet in the New Year. I will bring in some outside lights today only because we are expecting our window cleaners this week who may trip over the wires. We will bring our decs down on Friday, we are more in the later up and later down camp than some, I’ve heard on the radio some take down on Boxing Day I’ve never heard of that before. It’s a bit like Christmas records on the radio, it’s apparently ok to play them on the radio from December 1st but after Boxing Day it’s a no no, what happened to the 12 days of Christmas? We go away 4 weeks tomorrow for our QM2 Cape Town to Sydney cruise so we will try and shift a few pounds in weight before we go away, my clothes were a bit snug after our last cruise and I am about the same weight now so need to lose some, target 6 pounds.

purplesea Posted January 1 #53988 Share Posted January 1 Happy New Year to all my CC friends. Hope it is a good year for you all. Had a quiet night last night, just watched TV and the London fireworks to see in the New Year. We can normally see the fireworks in St Ives from home, but were not able to this year.

Each to their own . I look forward to our roast beef Sunday dinner on a Monday that Mrs K is cooking .Anyone else having a New Years dinner ? Whatever your doing have a good day our thoughts go to @Host Sharon and @Adawn47 Frank hoping they are out of hozzie and back home soon . Rare Presto2 Posted January 1 #53991 Share Posted January 1 Wishing you all a peaceful, healthy and happy New Year 2024. Thinking particularly about Host Sharon and Avril and Frank. (And anyone else facing difficult situations at the start of a New Year). We start a new chapter today as we have both officially retired. Hubby has worked since he was 16 in industry and then IT in education for 22 years and me 38 in education. Our first port of call is the Caribbean once we've put our lovely static caravan to bed for the Winter later this week. 🙂 Did a bit of partying last night in to the early hours so will be starting the New Year as we mean to go on ----- resting and sleeping 😉 20

I am sure it is well deserved. Our static van will be tucked up in bed, hibernating for the winter on Wednesday. Today doesn’t seem like winter, bright blue sky, a bit of a coldish breeze but rain forecast for later, just for a change 🥴

We loved the "Stay Home, do nothing, go to bed early" Ticketmaster ticket a few pages back, but cracked up when Yorkshire Phil asked if it was formal night. Josy1953 Posted January 1 #53995 Share Posted January 1 A nice sunny day today, perfect for a walk this afternoon. We are having a quiet day, the tree, decs and the outside lights are all safely stored in the loft, so the house looks much tidier.

kalos Posted January 1 #53997 Share Posted January 1 I decided, for the first time, to try the January Sales - it's doing my head in. Went to Boots, they don't sell boots.. Went to Currys, they don't sell curry.. Went to Selfridges, they don't sell fridges.. And as for Virgin Megastore, don't even get me started on that one ! A drunk wakes up in jail on New Years day and asks the first police officer he sees, "Why am I here?" The cop replies, "For drinking too much ." "Great!" slurs the man. "When do we start?"🤣 My mate gave up smoking cold turkey for last New Year. He’s doing better now but… …he’s still coughing up feathers. As for me, I for once kept all my New Year resolutions .. I put them in a file box besides my PC . At just before midnight I raised my left leg and held the position until the clock struck 12 . It wasn't an exercise , I just wanted to start this year on the right foot .🙃 Keep on smiling folks,it the way forward 🙂 1
