Well a few more days we're told because they're waiting to book him in for his test as it's very busy🙄, so the wait and worry continues. Thank you all for your support it helps and keeps me to keep moving forward. x

Avril

The good thing about this (I always look for a positive), is that he is stable. If he was in danger the test would be done immediately.

Take care, both of you

That's what I keep telling myself. If it was something serious they would have got him in earlier. He' s been in a fortnight already.

After a couple of calm days more annoying things today. Trying to register my Mum’s Power of Attorney with M&S and it’s a nightmare! I spoke to someone on Saturday she said she’d send me an email link to upload a copy.

Instead of emailing me back they’ve phoned my Mum !! And she can’t talk well. The bank was easy I don’t know why they’re being such a pain! Argh!

M&S bank are pretty useless, I had their credit card stolen with my wallet last Feb in Tenerife, rang them and asked to only cancel mine and keep my wifes active, but both were cancelled, fortunately my main one is Nationwide and they were more accommodating.

Incidentally the replacement card was declined in M&S on Monday, I rarely use it now since they closed our local branch, and only ever used it for M&S purchases.

Thinking of you Avril and my goodness two weeks passed already but I know it will feel a lot longer for you both and you with hospital visits every day is tiring but the positive is you get to go to the cafe and have lunch together, it’s good he’s eating and building his strength up but just make sure you’re also looking after yourself too and no rushing around.

I have just been catching up with all the posts, we all have lots going on don’t we?

Following my second mammogram last week I had a telephone call from radiographer, all is good and no further treatment required other than another mammogram in December.

On the dog front, she had a check up at the Eye Hospital in Penrith yesterday, all is going well, another check up next week. The vet will be booking a Caribbean cruise out of what we have paid out so far!!!

Have a good day everyone

Michelle

Very pleased things are starting to look positive again for you Michelle now you can put your mind back on decorating your new bungalow.

I had that happen to one of my bank cards which I did not use much.

They froze it due to no activity as a safeguard but they don't tell you this .

Got them to reactivate it and now will use it at least once a year even if it's to buy

a bottle of milk from shop .

The same applies to a pay as you go mobile phone, for those of us who only use them for emergencies (I know, not many nowadays).  If you don't ring someone - even your own landline - now and again after a few months they can cancel your phone and even take your number away and you have to talk to them to hopefully reinstate it and your available call time.

I can see ICF laughing at this.

Very true. My mother used to have a mobile phone, but as she rarely used it, it got cancelled. She now does not have a mobile phone as she can't get a signal where she lives, nor can we when we visit!

I am very relieved with the outcome of my mammogram.

Think we have started to see real changes now in the house. Plasterers finished Tuesday, internal doors and radiators arrived yesterday, radiators been fitted today. We are having wood floors everywhere and they started on those yesterday, after that they start the wet room.

We have had workmen here every day for four weeks so far I will be glad to get our house back. Then it all starts again at Easter, conservatory coming down and a proper extension going up and opened up between kitchen and new extension.

Lots of work but we are future proofing the house, wider doors and opening it all up for me because we know eventually I will be a wheelchair

If it was really urgent I am sure they would get the test done immediately as Frank has to wait I would keep that as a positive Avril. Keep your chin up and keep talking to us all on here

That applies usually to PAYG phones, those on monthly or annual contacts for phones or sim only won’t be cancelled.

Yes this all started with my mum because she tried to use her card in M&S when we took her out Saturday and it was declined. We then went to her flat where I phoned and asked why her card was declined. It was because her bill had been returned’ unable to gain access’ or something! I’ve said before it’s a nightmare at her flat for post. So I asked if they could amend the address to mine, she wasn’t keen even though she spoke to my mum. Then I told her I did have Power of Attorney and so she said she’d email me to upload the documents. Still haven’t heard back but they phoned my mum today and she couldn’t express herself!! The woman Saturday expressed surprise she was buying something in M&S when she’s in a home! Cheek! She got some shower gel and sweets she likes!

I have tried to persuade her to use her debit card but she used to work in M&S and likes her points!! 🙄

Here’s a little good news story about our wonderful NHS, despite all the attacks on it (not here, of course).

About a week ago I woke up with a very noticeable loss of normal vision in one eye, which coincided with a very bloodshot eye a couple of days before that. Checked out the symptoms online and with my medically very clued up wife - decided it wasn’t an emergency but did need checking out. Sent AskMyGP request to surgery around 0800.

Phone call from surgery an hour or so later with an appointment to see a GP just after 1100. Not possible for GP to contact eye clinic by phone (junior doctors quite reasonably on strike) but given letter to produce to Urgent Treatment Centre at local hospital. Arrived there around 1230, seen and checked by a couple of nurses by about 1400, escorted to eye clinic at about 1430, checked over and given a clean bill of health + diagnosis by registrar, who checked it out with his consultant.  Home by 1545.

Given that this is the usual winter stress period for the NHS, and that the junior doctors were on strike, I think that’s pretty impressive.

Frank's procedure is booked for 10am tomorrow. One step closer to finding any problems.🤞 They began giving him the dreaded drink at 1.30pm and so I came home early to give him his privacy, I'm sure the last thing he wanted was to chat. I've taken advantage of my early release😉, and changed and washed the bedding and completely bottomed the bedroom. I've also sorted out the fridge, freezer and pantry and threw out everything that's high in salt. The best thing to go is his vape and all the liquid, his decision. He admitted to me today that he thought when he left the house he wouldn't be back, and it was the first time he had felt real fear.   Me too.

I feel a little better now, the work was very therapeutic and now it's time to find find something for my dinner.

Take care everyone. x

Excellent news Avril. I had a horrible feeling it wouldn't happen until early next week. Great news also about the vape - me next!  So, fingers crossed for Frank for tomorrow. I hope it's not too uncomfortable for him. Sleep well after all your hard work today.  Love and hugs. Jane xxx

Great news Avril.

I hope he manages to stay off his vape.  Before David had his heart surgery he spent 3 weeks in hospital having tests and didn't have any cigarettes.  23 years later he is still a no smoker.

I used to go to visit him straight from work and every evening I would see people standing outside smoking.  There was one lady who had a small oxygen tank on wheels and she used to take her mask off her face to take a drag on her cigarette.

I had an interesting school run this afternoon.  I went out at my normal time and hit heavy traffic as soon as I  hit the main road, a journey of just over a mile took 20 minutes and my niece's daughter was waiting on the car park where I pick her up.  We immediately got back onto the road and spent just over 35 minutes getting to their house only 2 miles away.  When I went to open the door for her I found that I had picked up the wrong set of keys so didn't have their key.  I drove to my house and texted her brother, who has a late finish on Thursdays, to tell him to walk to my house because the traffic was too bad for me to get back to their house before he would get there.  We waited another hour before trying to get back to their house.  When we got to their house I went to unlock the door it was already unlocked even though dad's car wasn't  there.  We went in and it was clear that my sister, their nan, had been round to do their ironing and walk the dog so we can only assume that she forgot to lock the door when she left.  She will hear about it when we have "sister's lunch" tomorrow.

That is good news Avril @Adawn47.

Hopefully the procedure goes ahead and everything is good.

Sending prayers 🙏 for tomorrow for you both.

A friend had to stop taking Aspirin because of bleeding.

Great idea to get rid of high salt food and especially his Vape.
