I'm sorry to hear you are unwell.

Rest and plenty of fluids helps.

I hope you are feeling a lot better tomorrow.

Great to meet you both Phil.  We throughly enjoyed the cruise too.  We were lucky disembarking and only a minor delay for the last couple of coach passengers.

Blimey, I’ve only lurked (intermittently I hasten to add!) for 18 years (registered for 12) before finally posting….

Welcome aboard @puddledpotter. Good to meet you too and that you got through disembarking unharmed. Now you have made the leap we hope you will join in the banter.

To the young people who grew up with One Direction this is the big news and is important. One Direction are their Beatles.  Unfortunately Britain is obsessed with celebrity.  Schools around the country have expressed concern that blogger and celebrity are the most quoted career choices.

Glad to say neither of my 2 granddaughters have chosen either and are now at Uni studying engineering and law.

Doctors surgery how may I help you ?

Er yes I'm phoning because our Syd has got .."You Know What"

Doctors surgery  He's got what ?

Yes that's right .

Doctors surgery Sorry we don't understand and we need to so we know what is what.

I guess that would be a long phone call without the word Covid within that call.

Oh by the way ,our Flu jab was not a problem so Monday the 28th ,we will toddle off

to our chemist ,to nip in the back room where she will give us a shot of "You know what 🙃

I had you know what a couple of weeks ago. I think I picked it up on our cruise. The timings pointed that way. I had a bit of a cough, but so did half the ship. When we got home DW made me do a test....oh poo.

I’ve tested +ve this morning 🙄

First time!

Feeling fine, so far anyway

Best wishes to those afflicted who are not so good.  Everything I hear says “Listen to your body and don’t push yourself”, so that’s my advice to you and to myself

We’ve got a lovely sunny morning, which is a treat after so much rain. I’ll take the dog out, with her ball, so she can have a good run round whilst I stand still and get some Vitamin D therapy

I guess I’ll go back to looking at 26/27 cruises …

(Ironically, we were booked for flu & Covid jabs tomorrow.  Cancelled them Tuesday when OH tested +ve.  So that’s something to look forward to when we’re better 🤣)

The after effects of my flu jabs were worse than my covid symptoms. Hit after a 24 hour delay, but gone now. DW said "How's your arm? are you less shivery"..... I'm feeling a bit better this morning dear, I'll be OK. How are you?. She didn't have any problems...Men get hit by these thing so much more than the Ladies.

We both had flu and covid jabs in the same arm on Wednesday, other than some stiffness overnight Wednesday and early Thursday, we have both been fine, less of a problem than all previous years. We had the Moderna jab.

My doctor's surgery informed me in June that they were being forced by the government to move to online appointments and only those without computer access were the only ones who could call for appointments.  Cue chaos in August when my husband's medication was messed up before we went on our cruise, just a one off teething problem I thought. Late September I get my six monthly blood test and check up reminder, book a 30 minute appointment please can only by telephone.  I called first try 25 September - i remember vividly as it was my birthday- 1 hour 40 minutes waiting and cut off.  Repeat performance every day with well over an hour waits to speak to anyone and also a mysterious just cut off immediately you choose the reception option.  Finally get to speak to someone last Friday afternoon, appointment booked for Tuesday afternoon.  Call received Tuesday morning, sorry the doctor is sick, please can we rebook? Okay first appointment 31 October.  I need another water sample bottle, yes come in.  Go in yesterday to get it, sorry we haven't had any delivered so there aren't any available.  Call us next week.  No sorry I'm not calling you it took over two weeks to get the appointment, I'll go to the chemist.

Hang on, two weeks? Can you explain. Relate long story.  Notes taken, we will sort it out.  This morning phone rings at 8.10am. Hi I'm the senior practice manager calling re your experience.  Long conversation ensues.  So you were just getting cut off or not into the queue and your telephone providersays it's because too many people are trying to join the queue? Yes.  Okay we will fix this, we have a button which will stop you being cut off, it will make a queue ....

I've lost the will to say anything else at this stage.  Nice lady goes on to explain that central NHS made them go computerised as it's more efficient as they have recruitment retention problems due to patients being aggressive.  I never said it but I think it just might get worse with this new system!

We cancelled our apt for our jabs as I had covid. They told me after 2 clear tests phone to make another apt. A few days later..you are seven squillianth in the queue......a long time later..sorry we are not making any more appointments, phone a Pharmacy. I went on the NHS app. There was a link to the pharmacy we used last year..pick any day from tomorrow.  OK, duly picked a date. Now pick any time from 10.00 to 17.00 in 5 minute increments. Done....pleasant young lady, sharp needles, but no sticker...oh well.🤣

The trouble is our surgery was exemplary, never a problem getting through, always had appointments. This system is time consuming and difficult - the lady admitted that herself and apologised.  Ironically I always use Systmonline or the NHS anyway but if you need a "specialist" appointment over 10 minutes you have to call as the system doesn't allow those types of booking.

I queued so long I had to check I'd not called P&O in error!!

The 2 practices near me, including the one we are registered at still take telephone appointments, so are NHS really forcing practices to do the forced online appointments. My practice offered both, plus a new patient triage system for non urgent issues which results in a phone call back from the surgery from the appropriate professional. It works quite well, as I have tried it, got a call back from practice physio with 24 hours.

You should have told your Mrs,Graham said salmon sarnies served in bed are a good  remedy.

It is a bright sunny morning here so I went out as soon as I got home from the school run to finish delivering the leaflets for our councillor this morning before the threatened showers arrive. The walk has helped me to achieve over 10k steps already today.

It started off as a bright sunny day here, but it is down back to being dull and drizzly as well as windy.

Rang the dentist this morning as I have had toothache the last couple of days and ended up having the tooth out.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Our GP practice is driving me crazy at the moment. We had to cancel a holiday abroad due to a medical issue and trying to get them to complete the medical form for the insurance company is like trying to get blood out of a stone. Having paid for them to do this, we’re still waiting 3 weeks after submitting the document. There doesn’t seem to be a set procedure and personnel at reception keep giving us conflicting messages. What has happened to our local friendly practice which used to provide such wonderful service years ago?

We have been out to our usual restaurant for our weekly fish and chips fix.  The restaurant was busier than usual and the waitress told us that it has been busier than usual all week.  It must be all of us pensioners eating out before it gets too cold to go out

Good afternoon.

It is sunny and 15°C here.

Today is Pauline's wonderful late mam's 6th heavenly memory so we went to the remembrance hall at the crematorium.

We then had lunch at the Seaburn hotel which was her mam's favourite and then we had a short stroll along the promenade at Roker.

I hope everyone is safe and well and having an enjoyable day.

Exactly the same situation here, and the CQC rating has dropped right down to Requires Improvement from Outstanding.

I don’t blame the practice, or the partners, though. For many years now we’ve failed to take account of increases in population and a very well known increase in age profiles. The constant denigration of GPs by the Press and in media generally certainly hasn’t recruitment or retention either. There simply aren’t enough doctors to maintain the previous standards, and we’re all paying the price - particularly the elderly.

Ours gets rubbish ratings. Quite deserved as they are rubbish.  When you eventually get to see somebody the waiting room is empty.
