We're finishing season 5 of Ray Donovan.  We love the show, but it's a tough season to get through.

Agreed.

Yes I remember now.    That is a difficult season but 6 and 7 do get pretty wild.

The show did a pretty good job of reinventing itself.  There was supposed to be a season 8, the final season, but Showtime cancelled it quite suddenly.  A Ray Donovan movie came out earlier this year to tie up lose ends but alas, I cancelled Showtime a while ago as there was not enough to justify the cost.

Perhaps I can watch it during one of those "free movie" weekends where you get to sample shows.

So regarding tv shows/series.  We finished Ozark last night. It’s already been mentioned here that there’s a surprise ending. I won’t say more to avoid spoiling it, but overall I thought the final episode was just ‘meh’.  Not sure what I expected.
Loved Ray Donovan, Mrs Maisel & Breaking Bad. Shameless was good but we couldn’t get thru the final season. An older show we really enjoyed is Six Feet Under.  It had probably the best ending of any series we’ve watched.
Friday Night Lights is on our list to try too.

Wow!    Has anyone heard about 3D printed homes?    First one is under contract in NY.   This will be interesting to see how this develops into the housing market.

Neat idea.  Did you watch the video?    What surprised me was the cost.  $300,000 for a 1,400 sq ft house and it is supposed to be half the cost.  I can see it possibly working in high cost areas.

Harrah's might be my a close 2nd for favorite casino, Borgota is #1, I enjoy the lively atmosphere and the drink ladies come around often.  Actually, I like all 3 casino's by the Marina.

As for boardwalk casinos, my favorite - Showboat - is long gone. Resorts and Hard Rock are the only 2 worth going to.  Both have a totally different vibe.

When at the Borgata did you ever get to see a band that played there many, many times :Fried Rice and the White Guys ?

I stopped watching it because of the profanity. I was born in the 60’s, but I don’t remember my mother swearing! Maybe New York was totally different than the north coast of British Columbia, but even the word “bum” was a little racy!

I know people born and raised in NY who never uttered a curse word.In fact one lives in my house. It is not me.

Same here,   I hope to see the Ray Donovan movie for one of those weekends too!     I have not heard anyone comment the movie and if it gave closure to the series.    Hopefully it is not like how Sopranos ended.

Yes, I did watch the video.   I am really intrigued.

The first one in NY is a  little over  1500 sq home plus 750 sq detached 2.5 garage that was listed for $299K but the cost to build was only $20K and only took 10 weeks.    That in itself is pretty amazing considering most new home builders are running 6 to 9 months.

Now add on to that $20K to "print" the 3d home the cost for the land, permits, excavating, utility connections for water, sewer and electricity, appliances, interior finishes, landscaping, etc.

I imagine this first home entered into multiple bids and sold for much higher than list price.    Will find out as soon as it closes and sold price is listed under public records.

Good morning.

54°F and raining this morning.

It was pretty wet this morning, but the sun is shining brightly now in the afternoon.  We'll be getting rain on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday here in NJ.

Have you watched the season that has Jesse Piemons, from Power of the Dog and Friday Night Lights fame? Speaking of Friday Night Lights, I also consider that one of the finest TV shows ever.

I've been watching and enjoying Friday Night Lights for the past two weeks now.  Boy, do they like to argue on this show, though!!

Did you have the nasty thunderstorm roll through your area overnight?      It was very loud at my house and pouring rain.     We put weed n feed down on Sunday so hopefully that didn't wash away.

Very cool art!

I got a part time job, 2 days a week, receptionist in a Memory Care facility.  As difficult as it is to see people in the condition they are in now, I know they're in a caring, safe environment.  I don't have much interaction with the residents but when I do, I smile, say hello, ask how they are. Sadly, although some can't answer, they do seem appreciative.  A pat on the shoulder and a smile goes a long way.

One lovely man is at the beginning stages of dementia.  Unfortunately, he knows how he will eventually wind up. I told him to come talk to me whenever he wants, since he enjoys our chats.  He loves hearing about NY!  I told him he must be a great dad hearing his phone conversations with his son.

Dementia/Alzheimer's, Cancer.  Wish they could be permanently eradicated.

Sorry to bring a "downer" post in here this bright beautiful morning.  I rarely do so please forgive me.  Call your parents if you are blessed to still have them and tell them how much you love them.

On to happy things.  @Lionesss Will your daughter and SIL have a gender reveal?

I was diagnosed with Early Dementia a few years ago.I play as many on line word games as possible ,post on CC and a Brooklyn Nostalgia board.I believe it has helped me .

If we did, I may have slept through it.  I'm usually a pretty light sleeper (unfortunately), but sometimes Jim will say that was some storm we had last night, and I never heard it...and vice versa!😉

At our place, yes! Heard thundering and it was pouring rain. But not a drop in the am, just cloudy.

No need to apologize, your post is quite the opposite of a "downer".  It's uplifting, inspirational even, as you are doing a very beautiful thing.  Thank you for what you are doing and sharing. I have no doubt you are having a huge, positive impact on not only the residents of the memory care facility but their family members as well.

My mother had early-onset Alzheimer's when she is in her mid-60's. I was still in my early 30's and, having just gotten married a few years earlier, was somewhat distant. Not in a bad way, we had a great relationship but I was just preoccupied starting my new life.  My dad, being old school, didn't say a thing but eventually my other siblings noticed.  She had a rare version that affected her speech first and she lost her ability to speak and otherwise communicate before she lost her memories. As such, we could never determine how much she recognized us or what she remember or even if she knew what was happening.

Once it became to much for my dad and us to care for her, we did check her into a skilled nursing facility. They told us she'd be there for 12-18 months before she'd pass. She was there for 8 years.  My dad passed from cancer before her.

Given my current situation with a most loved one suffering a brain injury, I have often thought about how to give back, either thru fund raising, volunteering or working part time at a facility such as yours. Your post may have given me the necessary kick in the seat of my pants to translate my thoughts into actions.

The positive aspects of your actions reach far, my fellow Rocklander.
