Starboard Or Port Balcony

For the following itinerary, is port or starboard better in a balcony cabin:

 

7 Day Eastern Caribbean

Carnival Breeze - Port Canaveral

Amber Cove

St. Thomas

San Juan

Grand Turk

Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing which way the ship will pull into a port.  Sometimes port is next to the pier, other times starboard is.  That and there's a chance that another ship might be on the opposite side of the pier and all you can see is the ship.

I personally chose port on this itinerary for July. Biggest reason is the morning sunrise will be pretty and afternoon sun will not be directly on your balcony most of the time.

For some reason I like port.  I feel like I don't feel as confused in finding my direction on the ship.  We had a starboard balcony last cruise and I kept getting turned around.

After having been on 14 cruises, I can confirm this. If you're someone that likes to step out on your balcony in the morning in your birthday suit (after the ship has docked), it's best to peek through the curtain across your balcony door first, for obvious reason.😉

Sailing into San Juan, port side balconies have the best views of El Morro and the old city. Starboard balconies have the same view leaving. 

 

St Thomas has nice views on both sides, in and out. If memory serves Breeze typically docks at Havensigh, usually on the starboard side.

That would be true on the way down, but reversed on the way back to Port Canaveral.  EM

If sailing out of Miami, I choose port.  Other than that i don't care which side it is.

Actually, we've been sailing since the 1980's, always port side. Never had a starboard voyage in all our years of cruising. For me, port side is like being on the 'driver side', so to speak.😊

Coin flip at the visiting ports but I prefer starboard side views better when cruising out of Port Canaveral.

If heading south, I prefer the port side, since you get the morning sun which is a bit cooler, than the afternoon sun.  It has been so long since we have had a balcony, I no longer worry about it.  DH's memory is not what it used to be, so I choose starboard all the time now.  that way all he has to look for is odd numbers.

Which argues for port because who wants to look at the cruise port pier complex or Senior Frog's parking lot.   Then again, that might not be the best spot for other ports of call.

With so many saying port I'm surprised there are any cabins left in that category.
