Sunshine3601 Posted May 20, 2020 #301 Share Posted May 20, 2020 Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos of Copenhagen. I was supposed to be there this summer. We had reservations for a couple of days at Scandic Palace in city centre then do a b2b for Baltic/Norway on Jewel. Best wishes with your new home! Rare John&LaLa Posted May 21, 2020 Author #302 Share Posted May 21, 2020 (edited) Canal Touring Copenhagen has to be seen via boat. You can choose between non stops and HOHO versions We did the non stop and boarded in Nyhaven hard to find a prettier street scene Some of the boats have roofs We chose open top Open top is definitely the way to go I think the white house in the middle is where HCA lived when writing his stories This is the hotel we stayed at last year The Bethel, book it if you can This is a restaurant we ate at last year Obligatory panoramic shot Edited May 21, 2020 by John&LaLa

Rare John&LaLa Posted May 21, 2020 Author #304 Share Posted May 21, 2020 (edited) Canal Tour continued Little Mermaid from the water side Come on, give a girl a little privacy Opera House Red Bull uses the roof for a diving competition Kayaking club The locals rent the GoBoats for day trips Beer is often involved Tugboat turned into houseboat This is the waiting area for the royal family Serenade again Edited May 21, 2020 by John&LaLa
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 21, 2020 Author #305 Share Posted May 21, 2020 Canal Cruise post 3 There are other statues on the waterfront as well David A slightly more modern yacht than the Royal Yacht No narrator during this part of the trip, local complain of the noise Not the most famous tree in 😉 See the branches on the right This is the most famous tree in Copenhagen This is because people trying to take the picture of the tower above, miss, and get this instead It even has it's own FB page
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 21, 2020 Author #306 Share Posted May 21, 2020 (edited) Canal Cruise part 4 I think the boats were designed for the bridges And back at the dock After this Pat and I wandered around Nyhaven, then caught a taxi back to the hotel Met Laura for dinner, explored the airport so we knew where to go in the morning and then called it a night. It was a fun day Edited May 21, 2020 by John&LaLa

Rare John&LaLa Posted May 22, 2020 Author #311 Share Posted May 22, 2020 (edited) Let's go home, Day 18 - Lufthansa Well, after two plus weeks abroad, it's time to head back to sunny Florida It was a simple walk across a tunnel to get to the Copenhagen Airport Since we explored yesterday, I even knew where to go. Since Laura and I had Business Class seats going home, we opted to visit the SAS Lounge. It cost $30 to have Pat accompany us. I had a liquid breakfast🍺 We were probably on an A320 for leg 1 to Frankfurt They served 2nd Breakfast Yummy🤣 And look, more beer Gotta love Business Class Frankfurt We were supposed to move her in 1996 with Laura's job, but they closed the Europe office as part of a 25% budge cut So we got to go to Huntsville, Alabama instead. 😉 Anyone recall the German connection there.🤔 Edited May 22, 2020 by John&LaLa
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 22, 2020 Author #312 Share Posted May 22, 2020 (edited) The Queen of the Sky 👸✈️ I think we are above the f in Lufthansa First time in a 747, so why not go for the upper deck.😁 This is our ride home. 👍 But first, let's find the lounge, they should have beer Snacks were disappointing, but the pretzel was good Here is our lunch offering on the plane It was decent Look, more beer Edited May 22, 2020 by John&LaLa
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 22, 2020 Author #313 Share Posted May 22, 2020 (edited) Boarding Now I think I mentioned earlier that I could not get Pat a seat with us, so I purchased Premium Economy Free liquor, more legroom We got paged prior to boarding to come to the check in desk. Apparently they wanted Pat's seat for a family And they would give him 400 Euro and place him in an exit row on the aisle He currently had a middle seat so it seemed fair, seemed is the key word He ended up on the aisle, but not in an exit row. When he mentioned the story in the terminal, he was told they tell you whatever they want to get you to agree to the change and they were sorry, but this is his seat. I didn't find out till we landed, called Lufthansa and got nothing but an apology. I'll avoid Lufthansa in the future. We, on the other hand, had a lovely flight for the most part. My only letdowns were my TV remote would not work, so it was a pain to make adjustments when leaned back And the stairs at the end of the flight were a challenge going down But I'm glad I flew up there, it was very cozy and quiet Kind of like being on a private jet Happy couple View forward Aft Pre flight drinks with no one walking past you And this is what happens when I ask for a smile Look, beer The almonds were good Seat controls Sleeping Beauty The stairs to hell Edited May 22, 2020 by John&LaLa
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 22, 2020 Author #314 Share Posted May 22, 2020 (edited) Orlando I think there was weather issues in Florida prior to arrival Lots of cancelled flights caused a run on the rental cars, and they had no employees helping Waited over 90 minutes to get our car Should have booked a car service I had booked a Jaguar SUV, and all they had was a Caravan, at that point I was beyond willing to ***** about it. Once we got the car, it was an easy drive home, and that ends our tale Thanks for tagging along, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. If cruising doesn't start prior to Aug 26, we can do a two year anniversary review of the Serenade Baltics from 2018😉 That was a fun trip with lots of port pictures (Stockholm, Talin, St Petersburg, Helsinki, and lots of Copenhagen) Goodnight from Bell, she finally got groomed today. Copenhagen is now on our list. If you do go, I would advise you to buy the Copenhagen Card at the Airport on arrival. Everything is free. Busses, trains, entry to all attractions and boat trip including Tivoli. They have an App with directions and costs to monitor your savings. . 1
kastke Posted May 22, 2020 #322 Share Posted May 22, 2020 We spent 3 days in Copenhagen after this Transatlantic. We purchased the Copenhagen card ahead of time, online, and had it sent to our house. It was good to have in advance. Did not have to concern ourselves with finding where to buy it. We also stayed at Hotel Bethel, which John referenced above. The location is excellent, hotel was nice. There was remodeling going on while we were there, so a few small inconveniences construction related, but nothing drastic. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
