yes, when I first started work in 1976 in a manufacturing factory, on the first payday after I started, the Production Foreman started using that expression. I had no idea what he was talking about, but over the years I heard it many, many times, although not for some years now. Guess money going into your bank is not the same as the eagle's cash 🙂

Poets day was common in High Schools especially for those with the last period of the day free of classroom teaching.  As school timetabler I cannot remember the last time I taught last period Friday. Those were the days.
