yes, when I first started work in 1976 in a manufacturing factory, on the first payday after I started, the Production Foreman started using that expression. I had no idea what he was talking about, but over the years I heard it many, many times, although not for some years now. Guess money going into your bank is not the same as the eagle's cash 🙂

The day the Eagle Sh#@s is another US thing from WWII as it was when workers for Uncle Sam got paid. I had never heard of this in normal life but did here it in some movies.

Poets day was common in High Schools especially for those with the last period of the day free of classroom teaching.  As school timetabler I cannot remember the last time I taught last period Friday. Those were the days.

Never been paid on a Friday’s ever where I worked, when it was cash, it was Thursday. Seems like an eternity since I last got paid in any form.
